The US Disciples of Christ church is threatening to move its 2017 General Assembly convention outside of Indiana over a new ‘religious liberty’ law that allows religious people to discriminate against anyone they want to including LGBTI people

The leadership of the US Disciples of Christ church are reviewing their plans to hold their 2017 General Assembly in the state of Indiana after its Republican Governor Mike Pence signed into law a bill allowing wide ranging rights to discriminate by anyone who claims they have a religious objection.

Two Iowa women were married in a church of the town they moved to in 1947

Vivian Boyack, 91, and Alice “Nonie” Dubes, 90, exchanged vows over the weekend.

After being in a relationship for 72 years, the couple was married Saturday (6 September) at First Christian Church in the city of Davenport.

‘We’ve had a good time,’ Dubes told the Quad City Times.

Tinuola Adeyemi, who believes being gay is a choice, had nobody turn up to her first service of new branch of Christian church in UK town of Sevenoaks

An anti-gay UK Church leader turned up to her first service on a Sunday to a congregation of precisely zero, it has been revealed.

Tinuola Adeyemi, from Thamesmead, London began a new branch of The Redeemed Christian Church of God in Sevenoaks, Kent on Sunday 6 July.

Adeyemi, who believes being gay is a choice, had spread the word about the service by handing out leaflets but nobody turned up to the first service.

The LGBTI affirming American United Church of Christ has signed on to be one of the official sponsors of this year’s Gay Games taking place in the Ohio cities of Cleveland and Akron in August

The United States’ United Church of Christ has been announced as a sponsor of Gay Games 9 – taking place in the Ohio cities of Akron and Cleveland from 9 to 16 August this year.

The United Church of Christ is one of the oldest LGBTI affirming religious denominations in the world, coming out against the criminalization of homosexuality in 1969 and the church has supported marriage equality since 2005.

Libby Phelps knows her infamously anti-gay grandfather is probably rolling over in his grave over the fact that she posed this week for the NOH8 campaign.

But the granddaughter of Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps, who died earlier this year, is continuing to step forward in her public support for the community that her former church has focused much of its hate.

African American lesbian Rev Irene Monroe debates Jesus’ sexuality after the discovery of an ancient papyrus referring to his wife

Many biblical scholars have ignored non-canonical texts like the gnostic and apocryphal gospels suggesting Jesus had a wife.

However, they are now unable to ignore a faded fragment of papyrus, discovered in 2012, that suggests he was indeed married.

According to this month's New York Times article titled 'Papyrus Referring to Jesus' Wife Is More Likely Ancient Than Fake, Scientists Say,' that piece of papyrus is now known as the Gospel of Jesus' Wife.

This discovery disrupts the Christian church’s depiction of Jesus for many reasons.

Jack Evans and George Harris were married at Midway Hills Christian Church in Texas on Saturday after 53 years together – though their marriage will not yet be recognized by the state

Gay couple George Harris and Jack Evans were married on Sunday after 53 years together by a United Methodist priest who has put his pension and credentials as a clergyman on the line in order to conduct the ceremony.

Harris, 80, and Evans, 84, met in Dallas in 1961 and have been together ever since.

They were married 1 March at Midway Hills Christian Church.

A Nigerian pastor who claims gay marriage will lead to the end of the human race is touring the Pacific region next month, visiting Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and the Solomon Islands

‘General Overseer’ of the Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor Enoch Adeboye is touring Pacific nations in November, hoping to plant branches of his anti-LGBT church across the region.

Adeboye’s Let the Wind Blow tour will take him to Canberra, Melbourne, Auckland, Suva, Port Moresby, Perth, Sydney and the Solomon Islands capital Honiara.

Adeboye made headlines in Nigeria earlier this year when he claimed same-sex marriages would lead to the end of the human race.

Australian megachurch Hillsong founder Pastor Brian Houston has sent a message to all of his church campuses saying gays and lesbians should be welcomed in the church

GSN can reveal that the founder of Australia’s most successful Pentecostal ‘megachurch’ has sent a message to all of his church campuses around the world saying that gays and lesbians should feel welcome there and implying things like same-sex marriage may be things Christians just have to live with.

Hillsong church senior pastor Brian Houson’s message was broadcast to his churches on 18 August and had been recorded only a few weeks earlier at Hillsong London.

A leading anti-marriage equality lawyer has admitted to having same-sex attractions in his youth in a dialogue with a gay activist and has apologized for a speech he gave referencing Nazism when talking about same-sex marriage

Pacific Justice Institute president Brad Dacus has admitted to past same-sex attractions in a discussion with gay rights activist and YouTube personality Jeff 4 Justice and has apologized for a 2008 speech he gave which referenced Nazism and Adolph Hitler in speaking about same-sex marriage.

‘We all have our things we’re working through. I have my dark closet like everyone else,’ Dacus said while speaking to Jeff about human sexuality.

Asked if he had ever experienced same-sex attractions Dacus said ‘In early adolescence that’s very common.’

Pastor of LGBT-friendly church in Metro Manila says the people are ready, but the Catholic church is blocking same-sex marriage in the Philippines

A gay pastor who has performed dozens of same-sex marriage ceremonies across the Philippines said in an interview with Gay Star News on Sunday that Filipinos are ready for gay marriage.

‘I performed a lesbian wedding in a province in September, and usually provinces are very conservative, but the whole community was there celebrating, even the town mayor!’ said Reverend Ceejay Agbayani of LGBTS Christian Church in Quezon City, Metro Manila (the ’S’ is for ‘straight’).

Claims Reverend Ryan Muehlhauser used his counseling role at Outpost Ministries to abuse men he was trying to ‘cure’ of gay sex

A pastor who tried to ‘cure’ gay people has appeared in court, charged with sexually assaulting two of the men he was ‘counseling’.

Reverend Ryan J Muehlhauser, aged 55, of Cambridge, Isanti County, Minnesota, US, is accused of eight felony counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The charges relate to two young men he was apparently molested over a period of two years.

It's been a compelling road for Matthew Vines. The 22-year-old was reared in a Christian church that was conservative. He accepted the teaching of his elders, especially on gay sexuality.

However, Vines is now earning praise, and censure, for his YouTube videos that call into question anti-gay interpretations of Scripture.

Congregation in central Glasgow has decided to leave Church of Scotland over the issue of gay clergy

A 500-strong church congregation has become the first to split from the Church of Scotland over the issue of gay clergy.

Glasgow’s iconic St George’s Tron church took the decision following a meeting on Monday last week (9 July).

The church’s secession decision is due to last year’s verdict by the general assembly of the Church of Scotland’ to accept gay clergy if they had declared their sexuality and were ordained before 2009.

One of America's largest Christian churches approves same-sex marriage rite

The Episcopalians are set to become America's biggest Christian church to bless gay marriage.

The Witnessing and Blessing of a Lifelong Covenant rite, which was agreed by the Chamber of Bishops yesterday (9 July) and is expected to be passed by the House of Deputies this week, will come into effect in December.

With nearly 2 million followers, according to the National Council of Churches,  the Episcopal Church will be the largest denomination to have a same-sex marriage liturgy.

It is the latest move by the institution in favor of LGBT equality.

The Christian captain of Australia's national rugby union club has voiced his support for gay marriage.

‘It's my understanding that Jesus was on the side of the marginalised and the oppressed,’ David Pocock said in a statement released by Australian Marriage Equality. ‘And also that God is love. So as a Christian I can't just stand in silence on the issue of marriage equality. My faith necessitates that I advocate for it.’

Cardinal Keith O'Brien, the leader of the Catholic Church in Scotland, has sparked outrage after likening gay marriage to slavery, claiming it is a violation of human rights.

The controversial comments were made on BBC Radio 4’s Today program this morning and follows an article by O’Brien in The Sunday Telegraph in which he described the UK government's plans for gay marriage as 'madness'.
