Changing Attitude and the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement provide prayers for Christian supporters of equal marriage as anti-gay Christians hold day of prayer against equality

LGBT Christians will go head-to-head with anti-gay Christians as they both spend a day praying to God – for or against marriage equality.

Gay-hating Christians have declared Sunday (2 June) as Britain's National Day of Prayer for Marriage.

But, on being alerted to the day by Gay Star News, Christians who support LGBT equality have responded by issuing their own prayers – hoping for divine help to pass the equal marriage bill for England and Wales.

Marriage registrar Lillian Ladele and relationship counselor Gary McFarlane, who both refused to work with gay couples, have final appeal blocked

Judges at the European Court of Human Rights have blocked the final legal avenue for two Christians who refused to do their jobs for gay people.

Lillian Ladele and Gary McFarlane both argued their beliefs meant they couldn’t work with gay and lesbian couples and that forcing them to do so amounted to discrimination.

The court ruled against them on 15 January saying their rights had not been infringed by their employers.

Anti-gay registrars will not be able to opt out of performing same-sex marriages in England and Wales if they object on religious grounds.

The Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has told MPs marriage registrars are public officials and should be required to carry out all civil ceremonies.

British Christians defeated at European Court of Human Rights after losing their jobs because they refused to work with gay couples

Two British Christians who refused to do their jobs for gay people have lost their European Court of Human Rights appeal.

Lillian Ladele and Gary McFarlane both argued their beliefs meant they couldn’t work with gay and lesbian couples and that forcing them to do so amounted to discrimination.

But the court today (15 January) ruled against them with judges saying their rights had not been infringed by their employers.

A man and a woman who refused to do their jobs for gay people are among four British Christians taking employment tribunal appeals to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today (4 September).

The two, who said their religious beliefs meant they shouldn’t be asked to provide services for lesbian, gay and bisexual people, are joined by two more people who fought to be able to wear a crucifix symbol at work.

The British government will go ahead with plans for full gay marriage despite opposition from right-wingers and Christian homophobes, insiders have confirmed.

The Independent newspaper this morning quotes insiders at Number 10 Downing Street as insisting that Prime Minister David Cameron is still keen to go ahead despite the formation of an anti-gay Coalition for Marriage by former Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey and the homophobic Christian Institute.

George Carey aligns with Christian Institute homophobes in desperate bid to block same-sex marriage equality

The former leader of the Church of England has formed a new group to battle against gay marriage in Britain.

Ex Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey has joined forces with Colin Heart, director of the established anti-gay Christian Institute, to try to block the UK government’s moves towards full marriage for same-sex couples.

Together they have set up the Coalition for Marriage to fight equality.

Tesco has denied it is dropping support for LGBT pride events in London, despite Christians claiming they have forced the retailer into a u-turn on the issue.

The retailer – which is the UK’s largest supermarket chain – remains booked up as the £30,000 ($47,000 €36,000) sponsor of the family area at this year’s London event which is also the official World Pride for 2012.
