Nominations for the the 66th annual Tony Awards were announced on Tuesday (1 May) and Ricky Martin's much-heralded return to the Broadway stage in Evita did not result in a nod for the openly-gay superstar.
But out actress Cynthia Nixon, winner of the 2006 Tony for Rabbit Hole, is one of the favorites in the lead actress in a play category for her performance as a woman dying of cancer in Wit.
Martin, who earned a Drama Desk Award nomination for his performance as Che, last appeared on Broadway in 1996 in Les Miserables.
