Ricky Martin wasn't impressed with the recent homophobic statements by Cindy Mejia, labelling her foolish and ignorant on twitter

Recently Miss Peru Cindy Mejia, stated in an interview that God wouldn't allow her to have a gay son, because you turn gay when your dad’s away, and she’s firmly going to raise children with a father. Alternatively, according to her, children become gay through being raped or being too close to mother and sisters from which they pick up ‘mannerisms’.

Miss Peru Universe 2012 has made a public apology to the Peruvian gay rights movement for a series of anti-gay jibes.

Beauty queen Cindy Mejia, Miss Peru 2012, recently stated that god wouldn't allow her to have a gay son.

She also stated that boys only turn gay because of their father being absent, or because they have been raped or are too close to their mother and sisters.

Beauty queen Cindy Meija, Miss Peru 2012, has told newspaper Peru21 that god wouldn't allow her to have a gay son.

She said boys only turn gay because of their father being absent, rape or from being too close to their mother and sisters.

She also refused to endorse the desicion by the organizers of Miss Universe to allow transgender women to compete.
