A Connecticut gay couple will stand trial in an attempt to clear their names after two of nine boys they adopted claimed they abused them

Glastonbury, Connecticut gay couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth have chosen to stand trial over child abuse allegations in order to clear their names.

Harasz and Wirth had been raising nine adopted boys alongside two of Harasz’ own biological children with their mother when two of the boys, aged 5 and 15 alleged that they had been abused by the men.

The other children in the home deny that abuse took place but following the allegations all were removed from the couple’s care.

A high school student in the US has sold over 12 anti-gay t-shirts since his school agreed that he could wear one on campus

A US high school is no longer forcing a student to do away with his anti-gay apparel.

Seth Groody of Wolcott High School in Connecticut was originally requested by his school  to remove an anti-gay t-shirt he wore on last year's 'Day of Silence', a new campaign to raise awareness of discrimination and bullying against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students. The front of Groody's shirt had a slash across a rainbow and immediately caught the attention of the school's administrators.

Wes Breedwell wore shirt from punk band Hostage Calm

A man who worked for seven years at Rocketown, a Nashville, Tennessee music venue and Christian youth outreach facility, says he was fired for wearing a T-Shirt to work which stated: 'I Support Same-Sex Marriage.'

Wes Breedwall immediately made his firing, and the reason why, public by posting a photo of himself in the T-Shirt on Instagram stating in part: 'Here is a picture to show my support for equality and free speech including social media. Cheers to my friends for having my back through all of this.'

A 17-year-old, who describes himself as a 'white supremacist', will deny plotting to blow up six students and a teacher

A self-described ‘white supremacist’ Alabama teen who police accuse of plotting to kill his gay and black classmates with bombs is expected to plead not guilty today (9 January).

Derek Shrout, 17, was arrested on 4 January after a teacher found his journal and contacted the authorities.

Police state the journal contained plans to kill one teacher and five students, who are African American, and another white male student, who Shrout believed to be gay, ABC News reports.

Campaigners are calling on the US government to strip the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church of its tax-exempt status.

The Westboro Baptists threatened to picket memorial services for victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, which they claim was God’s punishment for the state of Connecticut legalizing same-sex marriage.

Torchwood star John Barrowman and spouse Scott Gill wanted to share some holiday cheer with their Twitter followers today (25 December) so they took a photo of their handsome selves and tweeted it along with this message: 'Merry Xmas and love to all of you.'

American preacher says schools teaching evolution led to the death of 20 schoolchildren and six adults

An American pastor has blamed the mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, on schools because they are teaching kids about evolution and ‘how to be a homo’.

Pastor Sam Morris, from Tennessee, says the removal of ‘Christian values’ from American classrooms was to blame for wave of gun murders.

On 14 December, Adam Lanza shot 20 children and six adults dead in a school after killing his mother. He then turned the gun on himself.

Ellen DeGeneres showed up to tape her daily talk show with a heavy heart on Monday (17 December) in the aftermath of the massacre at an elementary school Newtown, Connecticut, that left 20 children and six adults dead.

'We're going to do the show and it's going to be a struggle because my heart is broken for those families and for all the people of Newtown,' a subdued DeGeneres said during the show's opening. 'We're holding you in our hearts and today's show is dedicated to you.'

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) blamed marriage equality in Connecticut for the tragic shooting spree in Newtown that took 26 lives.

The Church announced that it will picket the funerals of the children with banners saying ‘God Hate Fags’ and other anti-gay hate messages.

Shirley Phelps-Roper, spokesperson of WBC and daughter of its leader, Fred Phelps, tweeted, ‘Westboro will picket Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment’.

American Family Association's Bryan Fischer says legalizing gay marriage is proof of 'sacrificing the well-being of children'

A far right-wing anti-gay pundit has said 20 young schoolchildren died because God is ‘no longer welcome’ in the classroom.

Referring to the tragic event in Connecticut on Friday (14 December), American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer said it could have been prevented if a prayer for ‘Christian values’ started each school day.

Speaking on his radio show Focal Point, Fischer said: ‘You know the question is going to come up, “where was God? I thought God cared about the little children. Where was God when all this went down?”

Twenty students shot to death in their Connecticut classrooms

Five-time Tony winner Harvey Fierstein was among the gay and lesbian celebrities who took to Twitter on Friday (14 December) to express their shock and outrage over the shooting deaths of 20 children and six adults at a Connecticut elementary school.

'Guns do nothing but encourage paranoid lunacy, arm fools and criminals, and rain grief and destruction down on the innocent,' tweeted Fierstein (pictured). 'And what will the NRA answer? 'If those teachers were armed this never would have happened.' You can't talk sense to the brain dead.'

An editorial defending the Boy Scouts of America in a conservative US newspaper has claimed that men who molest young teen boys are not paedophiles but gay and that it is the critics of the organization that are conflating the issues

A conservative US newspaper has claimed that men who molest younger teenage boys are gay and not paedophiles, and that men who molest girls of the same age are just heterosexual.

The claims were made in an editorial published by Connecticut’s Republican-American newspaper titled ‘Mixed signals in Scout scandal’ defending the Boy Scouts of America’s membership ban on gays and lesbians.

‘Pedophiles are attracted to pre-pubescent children,’ the editorial reads.

Tune lists the states in the US that allow gay marriage - it's a short song

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Emmy nominated this year for his role on ABC's Modern Family, delighted the crowd at the Human Rights Campaign dinner on Saturday (6 October) in Washington DC with his spirited little song about marriage equality.

He sang: 'These are the states with marriage equality: Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont.'

Then he added: 'Second verse, same as the first.'

But after repeating the verse, he was able to add, with great flourish: 'Washington DC -eeeeeeeeeeeeeee.'

Childhood friend being investigated for threatening to go public with details of what he said was a gay relationship

A childhood friend of Minnesota Twins pitcher Paul Pavano is being investigated for an alleged extortion plot in which he expected to be compensated for not going public about a relationship he says he and the major leaguer had in high school.

Christian Bedard, 36, had been allegedly posting comments about Pavano on the Facebook page of  the athlete's sister, Michelle DeGennaro, who contacted police.

YouTube video showing 24-year-old coming out to his mother gets half a million views in two weeks

A YouTube video of a young gay man coming out to his mother has gone viral, clocking up over half a million hits two weeks after being posted online.

The video, titled Coming Out - Live, begins with 24-year-old West Hartford, Connecticut resident Dan Brian (who goes by the YouTube handle mallow610) explaining to the audience that he is 'freaking out' and 'shaking' at the prospect of coming out to his mother.
