CNN anchor Anderson Cooper may be rich and famous but he's still a hard-working journalist who was on the job on his 47th birthday this week.

After doing a broadcast from Boston, he did the five-hour drive back to New York City and decided to duck into a McDonald's for a late-night birthday meal.

He ordered a Big Mac meal and 'I super-sized it because it was my birthday,' the CNN anchor told David Letterman Wednesday (4 June).

Then things got a little sad.

CNN anchor Cooper tweeted his support for the gay football player Derrick Gordon, who recently came out of the closet, but his message was quickly hijacked by anti-gay Canadian broadcaster Damian Goddard.

Anderson Cooper gave a candid, wide-ranging interview to radio host Howard Stern this week during which the CNN anchor revealed more personal details about his life than ever before.

Cooper talked about his days as a child model - a profession he entered at the age of 10 because he was worried about an impending financial collapse.

Between the ages of 10 and 13, he modeled for such brands as Macy's and Calvin Klein.

But that early career ended abruptly when he got propositioned by a male photographer who offered him $2,500 for sex.

Openly gay CNN anchor Anderson Cooper paid a visit to Seth Meyers' new NBC late night talk show on Monday and shared with viewers why he once thought the host was gay.

It seems Cooper, a well-known gym rat, once saw the former Saturday Night Live writer and news anchor at a gym in Manhattan and jumped to conclusions.

'It was pretty much the gayest gym on the planet,' Cooper said, 'And I assumed you were gay, ’cause… there weren’t a lot of other reasons to be there.'

The Mamma Mia straight star confessed before he was legally able to drink, he could fool bouncers and bar staff by putting on a dress.

‘I was young and I wanted to get into some dingy pub. I was half the size of any of my friends and looked like a female troll,’ the actor said during his appearance on The Graham Norton Show tonight (21 February).

Anderson Cooper ranked fifth in first year on list as openly gay man

Anderson Cooper was ranked fifth in OUT magazine's annual top 50 list of powerful gay men and lesbians - the first year he made the list as an openly gay man.

Cooper had made the list year after year - one year even appearing on the cover of the magazine with Jodie Foster - but it wasn't until last summer that Cooper he publicly acknowledged being gay.

Foster, despite her very public coming out speech at the Golden Globe Awards in January, did not make the top 50 list which was unveiled today.

Cooper's CNN colleague Howard Kurtz reports he's not interested

Anderson Cooper has not yet commented on reports that NBC News has approached him about taking over Matt Lauer's job as host of The Today Show.

But his CNN colleague Howard Kurtz, host of the show Reliable Sources, reported on Sunday (31 March) that Cooper is not interested in the gig.

Kurtz said Cooper, who hosts a nightly show Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN, prefers to stay with the cable network.

After the ball dropped in Times Square on New Year's Eve in New York City, CNN's guest broadcaster Kathy Griffin got her knees and attempted to kiss Anderson Cooper's crotch.

He giggled and tried to stop her and get her back on her feet but Griffin, never one to back away from a challenge persisted.

One group that isn't laughing about Griffin's antics is the Parents Television Council which said Wednesday that Griffin 'has shown increasing contempt for the audience.'

Anderson Cooper got more than he bargained for when he went to Portugal to shoot a story for 60 Minutes: temporary blindness.

The newsman told the audience of his daytime talk show Anderson Live Tuesday (4 December) about the incident that occurred after he spent two hours on the water in a coastal area under overcast skies working on the story.

'I wake up in the middle of the night and it feels like my eyes are on fire - my eyeballs,' Cooper said.

He thinks maybe he has sand in his eyes and douses them with water.

It does not help.

Gay news anchor Anderson Cooper was forced to duck and cover during a live TV report in Gaza after a bomb exploded nearby.

The CNN reporter is seen jumping out of his skin, diving to the floor and shouting 'Whoa', after a loud blast interrupted his Sunday night piece on the country's escalating conflict with Isreal.

But ever the professonal, Cooper returned to camera to explain to viewers that it was the largest explosion they had heard in the last hour.

The Party Python is made of gummy and feeds up to 300 people

Did you ever think you’d see the day when two openly gay men would be taking bites out of a giant gummy python snake on US broadcast television?

It happened this week on the daytime talk show Anderson Live! when host Anderson Cooper’s pal Andy Cohen guest hosted and the two opened a box that contained what is known as ‘The Party Python.’

'The Party Python? That's a foreign film,' Cooper joked after removing the 26-pound snake out of a box.

It can feed up to 300 people, costs $150 and if you eat the whole thing, you’ve ingested 136,000 calories.

Judge considers removing trans woman from men’s prison in northern New Zealand

A transgender woman in New Zealand who hit a man over the head with a bottle of wine has asked the judge not to be sent to a men’s prison.

The woman, named in court as Glen Cooper, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to injure in Whangarei District Court, northern New Zealand.

The incident happened when an argument started between Cooper and a man in a home in Whangarei. Cooper punched the man in the face and hit him over the head with an unopened bottle of wine. The man had to have stitches to two cuts in his head and an artery in his leg was cut.

A US TV show featuring a man who claims anti-baldness drugs made him transgender has been slammed for 'sensationalizing' an already marginalized group of people.

The talk show hosted by gay news anchor Anderson Cooper touts the interview with trans woman Mandi as an exclusive.

In a publicity statement for the segment, due to be aired on Anderson Live tonight (13 September), the program makers say Mandi's ex-wife will also speak about how the gender identity 'transformation' has affected their son.

Will be called Anderson Live when it's launched second season next month

Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show may have received an Emmy nomination, but it is undergoing an overhaul for its second season.

The show, titled Anderson the first year, will be rechristened Anderson Live when it returns to the air on 10 September. It will move from Time Warner Center to a new set at Manhattan’s CBS Broadcast Center where it will have a live studio audiences and have the capability of incorporating feedback in real-time via social media like Twitter and Facebook.
