University of Edinburgh action against student Tom MacMaster who faked a blog from Damascus released

The disciplinary action taken by the University of Edinburgh over a student who posed as a ‘gay girl’ blogger in Syria has now been released.

Tom MacMaster’s blog caught the attention of the world in the summer when political violence was escalating.

MacMaster claimed his ‘Gay Girl in Damascus,’ was the work of ‘Amina Arraf’ – who he invented as a US citizen, lesbian, literate and leftist watching events unfolding on the front-line of the turmoil in the Syrian capital.

New film released by Gay Middle East as US forces leave Iraq – 750 LGBT people murdered since 2003 invasion

Gay Middle East has released a new film showing the desperate plight of LGBT Iraqis – a situation which has worsened since the 2003 invasion of the country.

The video is about the lives of gay Iraqi men seeking refuge in Damascus, Syria due to their sexuality and has been released to coincide with the US military departure from Iraq.
