There will be no openly LGBTI professional dancers on the BBC dancing show following Robin Windsor's departure

Gay dancer Robin Windsor will be forced to drop out of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing over a back injury.

The 34-year-old, currently dating X Factor star Marcus Collins, will be replaced with Dancing With The Stars’ Trent Whiddon in the British dancing show.

‘I'm devastated to have to pull out of Strictly this year due to a pre-existing back injury,' Windsor said.

‘It's been a really difficult decision, but I plan to focus 100% on my recovery and hope to be back in the ballroom as soon as possible, doing what I love best.

The world of competitive ballroom dancing has more to it than sequins and perfect scores, as a recent row in the UK has seen dancers demand to be allowed to dance in same-sex pairs.

The current legislation laid out by the British Dance Council (BDC) stipulates: ‘This Council recognizes a partnership to be one man and one lady in all adult amateur and professional competitions and championships unless otherwise stated.’

Gay Irish host says he is 'too lazy' to take on the BBC show that inspired Dancing With The Stars and many other versions around the world

Gay Irish TV presenter Graham Norton is turning down the job of hosting Strictly Come Dancing, of the most highly watched shows in the UK.

When Sir Bruce Forsyth announced he was retiring from his role as presenter, Norton was thought to be a strong contender for the role.

But if he was asked, he said he would be ‘too lazy’ to do it.

Norton told The Sun: ’I wouldn’t jump at the chance [to host Strictly].

‘I really enjoy the show but, it’s a very tough gig.’

Becomes one of the few LGBTI celebrity contestants to take part over 18 seasons

Diana Nyad is trading in her swimsuit for a ball gown.

The champion swimmer, who inspired many when she completed her historic swim from Cuba to Florida last summer, was introduced Tuesday (4 March) as one of the celebrity contestants on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

The show begins its 18th season - there are two seasons each year - on 17 March.

It was the age of 64 and on her fifth attempt that Nyad swam 103 miles in 53 hours from Cuba to Florida.

She did so without a shark cage, flippers or a wetsuit which had never been done before.

Barclays LGBT gala fundraiser for Cohen’s anti-bullying charity also hears Olympic bronze medal hero Annie Panter talk about being lesbian

Performing in Strictly Come Dancing is the nerve-wracking thing former rugby star and pin-up Ben Cohen has ever done.

He made the comments at a fundraising dinner last night (24 October) for his LGBT anti-bullying charity, StandUp Foundation – organized by Barclays.

Meanwhile another special guest, Olympic bronze medalist Annie Panter, used the dinner to unexpectedly speak about being gay – and to joke how much sex there was behind the scenes at the London 2012 games.

Former principal dancer with the Kirov Ballet, Mikhail Baryshnikov has blasted his former homeland Russia over its persecution of LGBT people

Mikhail Baryshnikov, former principal dancer with Russia’s Kirov Ballet, has blasted his former homeland over its treatment of LGBT people in a statement released by the No More Fear Foundation.

‘My life has been immensely enriched by gay mentors, colleagues and friends and any discrimination and persecution of gay people is unacceptable,’ the 65-year-old dancer and actor wrote.

‘Equal treatment of people is a basic right and it is sad that we still have to even speak about this in [the] 21st century.’

The UK’s celebrity ballroom dance TV show may mirror Dancing With The Stars in other countries which have allowed same-sex pairings

The BBC would be prepared to allow a same-sex dance couple on Strictly Come Dancing, one of its flagship shows.

The British tax-subsidized broadcaster was responding to Gay Star News after current contestant Ben Cohen said he had wanted to dance with another man but was paired with a woman, Kristina Rihanoff.

Strictly is a major export for the BBC, turned into Dancing With The Stars in 40 countries, including Israel where an all female couple has already been permitted.

Germany is due to have a same-sex couple in its next series too.

Retired rugby star Ben Cohen may not be gay but he still wanted a male dance partner on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing ballroom competition.

'I like to break down stereotypes,' Cohen, an staunch LGBT ally and activist, told reporters this week.

But instead of being paired with a male dancer, Cohen is dancing with Kristina Rihanoff. The show has yet to have any same-sex pairings.

Lady Gaga has called for a boycott of the Winter Olympics due to be held in Sochi, Russia next year.

She said as someone who cares deeply for human rights, it does not make sense to go to a place where the LGBT community is victim to 'gay propaganda' laws.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: 'I care so much about these issues and I don’t think we should be bringing any commerce to a country which enforces such a lack of equality and a lack of human rights.

The annual contest in Buenos Aires has welcomed same-sex couples, making history and changing Argentina's reputation as a 'macho' country

Same-sex couples have danced for the first time in the World Championship of Tango in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The country in which gay marriage has been legalized, one of the most ‘macho’ in the world, has let gay couples participate in its renowned contest.

Three male couples and one female couple danced, for 10 days, together with straight ‘tangueros’.

Tango dancer Juan Pablo Ramirez – who was in couple with Daniel Arroyo – said to Argentinian broadcasting: ‘It takes two to tango. But they don’t necessarily have to be different sexes.’

New single Woman's World is latest success in legendary career

The new single by Cher is quickly turning into yet another big hit for the gay icon who had her first number one record back in 1965.

Woman's World has reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs Chart. This marks the eighth time Cher has topped this particular Billboard chart.

The first time was with Believe in 1998 followed the next year with two singles from the Believe album: Strong Enough and All or Nothing.

A 22-year-old gay man from Denmark has accused a Canadian school of failing to appreciate his 'art', appearing in gay sex videos

An aspiring ballet star was kicked out of school after they discovered they had found another way he could plié, by doing gay porn.

Jeppe Hansen, 22, from Denmark, had danced on stages around the world before joining the prestigious Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in September last year.

He decided to start doing porn earlier this year under the name Jett Black with the twink company Cocky Boys.

Beating out several others for a scholarship, when school officials discovered the videos, they told Hansen they no longer had a space for him.

BBC personality Craig Revel Horwood has criticized the new British reality television show

Craig Revel Horwood, a gay judge on long-running British TV show Strictly Come Dancing, has slammed The Voice UK.

The talent show judge says the new BBC show loses its appeal when the coaches turn round to pick their contestant.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, he suggested the judges Tom Jones, Danny O'Donaghue, Will.i.Am and the bisexual Jessie J should not turn round until the show reaches its final stage.

Gay showbiz reporter Richard Arnold is the latest celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing.

The ‘Daybreak’ TV host and his dance partner Erin Boag left the British dancing competition after finishing in the bottom two alongside Westlife singer Nicky Byrne and newcomer professional Karen Hauer.

Both couples performed their routines for a second time in the dance-off in the Wembley Arena special.

Arnold performed his salsa to Wham!’s Club Tropicana, and Byrne jived to Elvis Presley’s Jailhouse Rock.

Christmas concert will feature Tchaikovsky and 'camp classics'

The London Gay Symphony Orchestra is to perform a Christmas concert at St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, the largest parish church in the City.

The LGSO is the largest in the UK and it's members have performed at the Royal Festival Hall on London's Southbank, as well as other international venues.

Christopher Braime, the conductor of the Christmas Concert, said: 'Christmas is a sensory time of year – the sights, the smells and, most importantly for me, the sounds: as soon as I hear the opening bars of The Nutcracker, Christmas leaps to life from the score.

Gay showbiz reporter and television host Richard Arnold has survived the Strictly Come Dancing dance-off for the second time tonight (4 November).

Filmed yesterday, Arnold and his professional partner Erin Boag won a dance-off against actor Colin Salmon and Kristina Rihanoff in the British reality show results.

Arnold forgot his foxtrot when he performed it the first time on Saturday.

‘When you say dance again, it’ll really be the first time,’ he said before dancing in the results show. ‘It’s very tough going out there again. ‘

UK Radio 1 breakfast show host Nick Grimshaw whacks Olympic gymnast Louis Smith in face because he 'fancies him'

As if a grilling from acerbic judge Craig Revel Horwood wasn't a kick in the teeth enough, Strictly Come Dancing star Louis Smith was booted in the face by gay British Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw.

The Olympic gymnast was taken by surprise when the former TV host tried to impress him with his athletic skills during a visit to the BBC studios, reported STV.

Grimshaw said: 'Louis Smith was on, who I love, and I was showing him my stomach, and he was like, "Errr..." and I was like, "I'll do a handstand for you". And I kicked him in the face.

Former fat kid and bully-target Chris Olwage is living his dream ballet dancing on TV. Last night he was one of five acts performing in New Zealand’s Got Talent 2012 semi-finals.

Olwage dances Swan Lake’s Black Swan part (made famous from the Natalie Portman film) en pointe, which is unusual and impressive for a male dancer.

Gay showbiz reporter and television host Richard Arnold will live to waltz another day as he survived the Strictly Come Dancing dance-off tonight (14 October).

Filmed yesterday, Arnold and his professional partner Erin Boag faced television legend and 74-year-old Johnny Ball and newcomer Iveta Lukosiute in the British reality show results.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman saved Arnold and Boag based on the fact there was more content in the couple's cha cha cha.
