Sir Elton John and David Furnish could be the first gay couple to recieve a shield representing their relationship and family dynasty

British gay married couples are now able to create their own coat of arms for the first time in history.

For centuries, couples in the upper classes of British society have been designing a shared shield that combine the two families in one heraldic symbol.

And now couples in England and Wales can get married, the College of Arms has announced they have finally changed their archaic rules.

The College said they will aim to ‘replicate as closely as possible the heraldic practice for married couples of different sex.’

British music icon John, 67, and partner Furnish, 51, have been civil partners since December 2005, entering their civil partnership on the day the act was passed.

The couple told Attitude magazine they plan to marry to further fly the flag for gay equality.

Tom Hardy may not have seemed like the most obvious choice to play Elton John  in the biopic Rocketman but he showed Tuesday (5 November)that he's 100% on board for the project.

Hardy, whose films include Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and Star Trek: Nemesis, appeared with John at a breakfast bash in Santa Monica attended more than 100 movie buyers.

Two gay couples join Prince William and Kate and the Beckhams in London Evening Standard’s list of most powerful pairings

Sir Elton John and David Furnish and Lord Guy Black and Mark Bolland are the most powerful gay couples in London.

That’s according to a new list by the British capital’s leading newspaper, The Evening Standard.

They join Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha and the Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, in the top 10 power couples list.

Neil Patrick Harris says it's no big deal when a gay guy grabs another on the bum - even when their significant others are in the vicinity.

'With gay guys, it's like in baseball when they slap each other on the butt going around the bases - it's a normal thing,' the actor told talk show host Conan O'Brien this week.

O'Brien brought up the topic when he showed his audience a photo of Harris and his partner, David Burtka, posing with fellow gay power couple Elton John and David Furnish.

TV host Ellen DeGeneres has been named as the most powerful gay person in the world in a new list published today.

The 2013 World Pride Power list was celebrated at a gala dinner held at the Corinthia hotel in London last night (28 June) ahead of the release of the list to time with Pride in London today.

But some of those on the list will be controversial with British journalist, Julie Bindel, coming in at number 83 despite being slammed in the past for transphobia.

US comic and presenter Ellen DeGeneres moves up from 10th place in the 2012 list.

Gay pop legend Elton John and partner David Furnish have become parents for the second time, it was confirmed.

Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John was born in Los Angeles via a surrogate on Friday evening (11 January).

Anti-gay Islamic party claim Sir Elton's concert in Kuala Lumpur will corrupt young people in Malaysia

An anti-gay Islamic group in Malaysia plans to protest a concert by Elton John, claiming the veteran pop star will 'drag' young Muslims into 'vice'.

The Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) will picket the British singer's gig in the capital Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (1 December) over his gay marriage to partner David Furnish.

The group also accuse Sir Elton's tour in Asia of promoting 'hedonism' and claims it will have a negative impact on young Malaysians.

Sir Elton John's husband David Furnish could also receive an honor from the Queen if a new bill is passed by the UK government

The partners of gay knights and dames in the UK could also be given titles under new proposals to be discussed in parliament.

Currently only the female spouses of straight couples receive that honor, but Conservative MP Oliver Colville wants to bring more equality to the system.

Under the Honours (Equality of Titles for Partners) Bill, which will be launched in the House of Commons tomorrow (3 July), 'husbands and civil partners of those receiving honours to be allowed to use equivalent honorary titles to those available to women'.
