The Elton John and David Furnish family portrait just got a little more crowded with the addition of a new son named Elijah Joseph Daniel who was born earlier this month (11 January).

The couple's other son, Zachary Jackson Levon, was born two years ago.

Fathers and sons posed for their first official family portrait for People magazine and the parents talked about the new baby who was born in Los Angeles to the same surrogate mother as Zachary.

Speaking to Hello, the happy couple said: ‘Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable.

‘The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way.

On 10 January, several gossip websites and international newspapers reported the pair added to their family via a surrogate in California.

The anonymous surrogate was alleged to e the same woman who delivered their first son Zachary on Christmas Day 2010.
