Wham singer slams EastEnders for its treatment of gay characters and reveals he has been off cannabis for at least a year-and-a-half

Gay singer George Michael has revealed how fame nearly sent him mad.

The British Wham singer also said he has stopped his drug-taking lifestyle and not used cannabis for ‘well over a year-and-a-half’.

The 50-year-old has said recent health scares and time spent in prison shocked him into changing his life.

Speaking to The Big Issue, Michael was asked about how he felt the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton – wife to Prince William – was doing as he was a good friend of the late Princess Diana.

A gay man has been named legal father of his former partner’s daughter, raising important questions about custody rights with regards to same-sex parents

A Canadian court has upheld a ruling that names a gay man the legal father of his former partner’s daughter.

The decision is expected to be the first of many where legal parentage and custody rights are re-examined in light of changing laws on same-sex marriage and assisted reproduction.

‘Harry’, whose name along with the rest of the other parties to the case has been changed to protect the child’s identity, originally shared guardianship of his partner ‘Rick’s’ biological daughter for the first three years of her life.

Author and comedienne Cleo Rocos claims she smuggled Princess Diana into a gay bar in the 1980s.

‘When we walked in ... we felt she was obviously Princess Diana and would be discovered at any minute,’ said the author.

She described in her book The Power of Positive Drinking how she, Freddy Mercury and gay British comic Kenny Everett took the Princess of Wales to South London’s Royal Vauxhall Tavern one night.

A South African girl is set to drop 100 kilograms (16 stone) in order for her to have gender reassignment surgery.

Raven El Messaoudi, 15, from Johannesburg, has lived as a girl for ten months since coming out as transgender.

The teenager used to live on a diet of 14 eggs-on-toast for breakfast, a McDonald’s meal of a Big Mac and three cheeseburgers for lunch and fried chicken and pasta for dinner.

For six decades, Queen Elizabeth II has remained silent about homosexuality.

Ever since her father King George VI died in 1952, leaving her as Queen, the words ‘gay’, ‘lesbian’, ‘bisexual’, and ‘transgender’ have never been reported as crossing the lips of the reigning monarch.

Even when the UK government was reforming anti-gay laws, she did not reference the community once in the Queen’s Speech, which sets out the British parliamentary agenda for the year ahead.
