Star Trek icon says Trump recently attended a gay wedding and said it was 'beautiful'

Since Star Trek icon George Takei is one of the most famous married gay men in the world,  it was a little bit curious that he would agree to participate in NBC's Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump who came out very strongly against same-sex marriage during his flirtation with a presidential run last year.

Takei, however, said he was using his participation in part to help change Trump's mind on the issue and on Tuesday (4 December), the two men had lunch and discussed the issue.

Contestants in the Miss Universe Singapore 2012 beauty pageant gave contrasting views on transgender women competing for the crown next year.

Prompted by the controversy of Jenna Talackova, a transwoman who was barred and then finally accepted into a beauty pageant in Canada, all regions of Donald Trump’s Miss Universe empire will have to welcome transgender contestants in 2013.

Jenna Talackova takes home prize in four-way tie, but is not crowned Miss Universe Canada

Jenna Talackova, a transgender woman who was temporarily banned from competing, won the Miss Congeniality prize in a four-way tie, but did not take home the Miss Universe Canada crown.

Transgender Miss Universe Canada finalist Jenna Talackova says she has a boyfriend and plans to have two children.

Talackova, 23, made appearances on Good Morning America and the View on Monday (9 April), telling hosts about her relationship and plans for the future.

She told Good Morning America that, while her boyfriend of two-and-a-half years wasn’t initially aware she was born a man, once she told him he was very supportive and accepting.

Official policy change comes after Jenna Talackova of Canada was temporaily banned

Amid a wave of negative publicity surrounding its temporary banning of transgender Miss Universe Canada finalist Jenna Talackova, the Miss Universe Organization is close to finalizing an official policy change that allows transgender  women to participate in all of its competitions.

The policy change will be in place for the start of this fall’s 2013 pageant season, a time when most of the competitions around the world begin to take place.
