Not many months after he won the Academy Award for his screenplay for the film Milk in 2009, Dustin Lance Black's newfound fame quickly showed its downside.

Old photos of him having unprotected sex with an ex-boyfriend were leaked onto the internet. Black quickly issued a statement saying he wanted to emphasize the importance of responsible sexual practices and moved on with his life.

Postage stamp featuring slain gay civil rights leader debuts on 22 May

The White House announced today that it will have a dedication ceremony next month to celebrate the debut of the US postage stamp featuring slain civil rights leader Harvey Milk.

The stamp will become available to the public on 22 May which is Harvey Milk Day in California.

In announcing the ceremony, The White House described Milk as 'a visionary leader ... whose achievements gave hope and confidence to the (LGBTI) community in the United States and elsewhere at a time when the community was encountering widespread hostility and discrimination.'

British Olympic diver Tom Daley has said since he came out he has had a deluge of offers of gay sex, including people who offer it ‘there and then’.

Olympic medalist Tom Daley was named the biggest sporting inspiration to UK teenagers last night (1 March) at a National Citizen Service (NCS) event in London.

The awards were based on the results of a poll run by the NCS, a government initiative that aims to improve young people’s confidence, teamwork and leadership skills through a series of challenges and community projects.

Men and women who like men are in mourning after learning they may lose their weekly dose of seeing British Olympic diver Tom Daley in his skimpy speedos.

As British reality TV show ‘Splash’ is reportedly facing the axe after ratings took a dive for the worse.

The ITV show pulled in disappointing numbers for the final, with only 4.4 million tuning in compared to last year’s 6.5 million.

The Sun reports ITV bosses are now considering scrapping the diving competition.

Tom Daley has taken an adorable selfie of him after the National TV Awards last night (22 January).

On it, he revealed his phone has got the cutest picture of him and boyfriend Dustin Lance Black.

Oscar winning Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black and the film's director Gus Van Sant and producer Bruce Cohen will take part in a special screening of the film and a Q and A session at St Petersburg’s LGBT Bok o Bok (Side by Side) Film Festival on Saturday to close the festival.

The three filmmakers are traveling to St Petersburg for the festival despite a series of bomb threats being made against the festival – though none has proved credible thus far and seem mostly to have been aimed at disrupting screenings.

San Francisco Mayor George Moscone, murdered on same day, to also be remembered

It was 35 years ago today that San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and the city's first openly gay city supervisor, Harvey Milk, were gunned down at City Hall.

The murderous actions of disgruntled former supervisor Dan White broke a lot of hearts that day and tonight (27 November) the city will pay tribute to the two men tonight at a candlelight vigil.

Among those marching will be Dustin Lance Black who won an Oscar for writing the screenplay for the movie Milk which starred Sean Penn as the late supervisor. Victor Garber played Moscone in the film.

Will the first stamp to feature an openly gay elected official

Even in death, Harvey Milk is still achieving firsts.

The slain LGBT rights icon will become the first openly gay person to be featured on a US postage stamp.

The US Postal Service confirmed Thursday (10 October) that the stamp will be issued sometime next year.

'Another first!' the honoree's nephew, Stuart Milk, stated on the Facebook page of The Harvey Milk Foundation. 'My deep gratitude to everyone that supported this effort!'
