Speakers at Stonewall's Education for All conference admit 'enormous challenge' in tackling homophobic bullying at school despite 'remarkable' progress

Extremist Christians protested outside a conference on tackling homophobia in schools, accusing organizers Stonewall of trying to ‘indoctrinate’ pupils through the education system.

The demonstration by the Core Issues Trust, which advocates 'gay cure therapy', was laughed off by Stonewall chief executive Ben Summerskill during his opening speech at the event in London’s British Library today (5 July).

Joking, he thanked them for highlighting the need for the LGBT group’s work.

Stonewall’s education conference to launch new research on scale of homophobia in schools

Stonewall will release a major new report about homophobia in Britain’s schools at its seventh annual Education for All conference on 5 July.

The new report, which aims to measure the scale of homophobia in British schools, is based on a survey of 6,400 lesbian, gay and bisexual students from across the country.

Conference delegates will be the first to discuss the survey’s findings.

US Education Secretary second administration in two days to express personal view different from President Obama

As President Barack Obama continues officially 'evolving' on the issue of gay marriage, a second member of his administration has come out and publicly supported marriage equality.

A day after Vice President Joe Biden told NBC's Meet the Press that he is 'absolutely comfortable' with gay people getting married, Education Secretary Arne Duncan did the same when asked about the topic during an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe on Monday (7 May).

Campaigners angry after UK government's Education Secretary, Michael Gove, says equality laws do not cover schools

Michael Gove, the UK government's education secretary, has come under fire from campaigners after claiming equality laws do not cover school curriculums.

Trade unionists the TUC raised concerns to the Conservative politician about a homophobic booklet which was distributed in Roman Catholic schools in Lancashire, England, in 2010.

The pamphlet, called 'Pure Manhood: How to become the man God wants you to be', claims that ‘the homosexual act is disordered’.
