Gay superstar and his partner will convert their civil partnership into marriage at the weekend

Elton John and David Furnish are to officially be a married couple this month after 21 years together.

The pop superstar and his partner are set to marry at their Windsor estate on 21 December, a private and intimate ceremony.

Back on 21 December, 2005, they were among the first British gay couples to enter into a civil partnership.

While nine years ago it was a lavish affair with over 600 guests, this time it will just be 50 family and friends celebrating the occasion.

A rep for the singer confirmed the news to People magazine.

Proceeds from London event benefit Elton John AIDS Foundation

The 41-year friendship between Elton John and Billie Jean King continues to thrive and to raise funds in the fight against AIDS.

Their annual event WTT Smash Hits (WTT stands for World Team Tennis which was founded by King) was held over the weekend in London and raised more than $1 million dollars for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

It was only the second time in the event's history that Smash Hits surpassed $1 million. It has now raised more the $13 million to support HIV and AIDS prevention and awareness programs since the first event in 1993.

The 41-year friendship between Elton John and Billie Jean King continues to thrive and to raise funds in the fight against AIDS.

But Reginald Dwight had other ideas.

The British couple are expecting the three children between January and July next year

In what’s believed to be a world first, a British gay couple are soon to become dads to three babies born to three separate surrogate moms – all of whom are pregnant at the same time.

The babies will be born within seven months of one another.

Surrey-based husbands Daryl Lee, 41, and Luke Harris, 50, met online in 1999. They had a civil partnership ceremony in 2012.

Elton John is praising Pope Francis for his attempts to make the Catholic Church a more welcoming place for gay people.

'Make this man a saint now, OK?,' John said this week during a benefit in New York City for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

CBS News reports that the singer was cheered when he said: 'Ten years ago one of the biggest obstacles in the fight against AIDS was the Catholic Church. Today we have a pope that speaks out about it.'

George Clooney's Italian wedding may have gotten all of the attention over the weekend but Neil Patrick Harris points out that he got married in Italy first.

'Take that Clooney! I don't see you showing pictures of your wedding on talk shows!' Harris joked Monday (29 September) during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Harris and his partner of 10 years David Burtka were married over the summer in a small Italian town near Perugia in front of about 50 guests which included Elton John.

Elton John is being named as the savior of a six-year-old boy's life from the conflict in Ukraine.

Lev Ageyev, six, his brother Artyom, seven, and their grandmother Yulia Ageyeva were given safe passage out of the conflict in the port city of Mariupol.

The gay singer has known Lev since he attempted to adopt him in 2009. He was banned over laws in Ukraine that ban gay couples from adoption.

'I would love to adopt him...he has stolen my heart,' he said at the time. 'I wouldn't give up on him, ever.'

In an interview Thomas revealed he’s already done some UK tour dates with John, and is looking forward to opening for the gay icon in America.

‘[John] took me on the road for some July dates, because that was the time of the release of the album.

Hardy portrays Ronald and Reggie Kray (aka the Kray Twins) who ran East London’s underworld in the 1950s and '60s

It's already known that Tom Hardy will portray gay singer Elton John in an upcoming biopic.

Now it turns out that the gangster twins he plays in the film Legend - Ronald and Reggie Kray (aka the Kray Twins) - were also both gay.

The film is currently in production and is expected to be released in 2015. It tells the story of the infamous twins who started a gang that ran East London’s underworld in the 1950s and '60s called The Firm.

Vladimir Putin has refused to confirm a meeting with Elton John, with the Kremlin claiming they have not received an official invitation.

The openly gay star defied protests and performed two concerts in the country last year amid the storm over the country’s law banning the promotion of homosexuality.

US trans actress and activist Laverne Cox was revealed as number one on the World Pride Power list last night (27 June).

The Orange is the New Black actress wasn’t able to attend the ceremony, but sent a video message instead.

‘I hope you can love each other more regardless of who you are or how you identify,’ said Cox. 

Cox has been hailed as one of the most recognizable and successful trans women in popular culture. She has appeared on talk shows with Wendy Williams and Katie Couric and was recently on the cover of Time magazine.
