Gay singer is believed to have helped save a little boy from Ukraine, giving him and his family safe passage away from the conflict

Elton John is being named as the savior of a six-year-old boy's life from the conflict in Ukraine.

Lev Ageyev, six, his brother Artyom, seven, and their grandmother Yulia Ageyeva were given safe passage out of the conflict in the port city of Mariupol.

The gay singer has known Lev since he attempted to adopt him in 2009. He was banned over laws in Ukraine that ban gay couples from adoption.

'I would love to adopt him...he has stolen my heart,' he said at the time. 'I wouldn't give up on him, ever.'

The famous pair, friends for 41 years, have raised more than $12 million for AIDS charities

Elton John and Billie Jean King met in 1973 and the peak of their rock star and tennis playing fame.

She sang back-up at several of his concerts and he wrote the 1975 hit Philadelphia Freedom about her.

To say they have kept in touch would be an understatement.

The famous pair announced this week that they are once again teaming up for a World TeamTennis Smash Hits event to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

It will take place on 7 December at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Bright Light Bright Light, aka Rod Thomas, will open for Elton John's US leg of his 2014 tour.

Already friends in addition to collaborators, the Welsh musician recently featured Elton John on his single I Wish We Were Leaving, part of his latest album Life Is Easy released on 8 July.

In an interview Thomas revealed he’s already done some UK tour dates with John, and is looking forward to opening for the gay icon in America.

‘[John] took me on the road for some July dates, because that was the time of the release of the album.

Hardy portrays Ronald and Reggie Kray (aka the Kray Twins) who ran East London’s underworld in the 1950s and '60s

It's already known that Tom Hardy will portray gay singer Elton John in an upcoming biopic.

Now it turns out that the gangster twins he plays in the film Legend - Ronald and Reggie Kray (aka the Kray Twins) - were also both gay.

The film is currently in production and is expected to be released in 2015. It tells the story of the infamous twins who started a gang that ran East London’s underworld in the 1950s and '60s called The Firm.

Vladimir Putin has refused to confirm a meeting with Elton John, with the Kremlin claiming they have not received an official invitation.

The openly gay star defied protests and performed two concerts in the country last year amid the storm over the country’s law banning the promotion of homosexuality.

In recent interviews, the Rocket Man singer has said he has asked for a meeting with Putin to discuss the homophobic law.

UK musician Sir Elton John has said he thinks if Jesus was alive today he would be a supporter of gay rights and equal marriage.

The ‘Rocket Man’ singer also spoke about the Pope, Putin and his plans for a low-key wedding with his partner of over 20 years David Furnish.

Speaking about gay marriage, John believed Jesus would not have stopped gay clergy or congregation from marrying someone of the same sex.

US trans actress and activist Laverne Cox was revealed as number one on the World Pride Power list last night (27 June).

The Orange is the New Black actress wasn’t able to attend the ceremony, but sent a video message instead.

‘I hope you can love each other more regardless of who you are or how you identify,’ said Cox. 

Cox has been hailed as one of the most recognizable and successful trans women in popular culture. She has appeared on talk shows with Wendy Williams and Katie Couric and was recently on the cover of Time magazine.

Dave Small won a seat for the UK Independence Party (UKIP) on Redditch Borough Council on Friday 23 May.

Just hours after, newspaper the Redditch Standard revealed his Facebook rants about gay people and immigrants.

British gay married couples are now able to create their own coat of arms for the first time in history.

For centuries, couples in the upper classes of British society have been designing a shared shield that combine the two families in one heraldic symbol.

And now couples in England and Wales can get married, the College of Arms has announced they have finally changed their archaic rules.

The College said they will aim to ‘replicate as closely as possible the heraldic practice for married couples of different sex.’

The Star Trek icon, LGBTI activist and social media powerhouse will be presented with GLAAD's Vito Russo Award next month at the organization's New York media awards gala.

Gloria Estefan and multi-hyphenate Kenny Ortega have been named Grand Marshals for this year’s Miami Beach Gay Pride.

Ortega, who’s choreographed the likes of Madonna, Michael Jackson and Elton John, will join the Miami resident Estefan in a vintage Rolls Royce to lead the parade of floats, charities and pride-goers.

This is the sixth annual Miami Beach Gay Pride, and over 80,000 fans and supporters are expected to turn out to join the festivities.

Russian President Vladimir Putin described openly gay singer Elton John as 'an outstanding person [and] outstanding musician.'

Putin, interviewed by a small group of journalists over the weekend also said of the pop icon: 'Millions of our people sincerely love him despite his orientation.'

Elton John, the gay British pop legend, has done it. He has gone to Russia to perform, spoken out against the law and has appeared to come back unscathed.

While we do not know whether the promoter, like with Lady Gaga’s tour, will be fined, but for now it seems like the singer has done his job.

Following his performances on 6 and 7 December in Moscow and Kazan, he met with gay and HIV rights activists.

For his charity, the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the singer decided to write an open letter about his experiences.

Performing in Moscow tonight - the first of two concerts in Russia - Elton John spoke out against the country's anti-gay laws from the stage.

'I am deeply saddened and shocked over the current legislation that is now in place against the LGBT community here in Russia. In my opinion, it is inhumane and it is isolating,' John said according to a transcript on Joe. My God.
