He and LA Galaxy teammates have been practicing with Robbie Rogers

Soccer pro Robbie Rogers came out publicly as a gay man in February then promptly retired from the sport.

But he's been practicing in recent weeks with the Major League Soccer team the Los Angeles Galaxy including forward Landon Donovan.

If it works out that Rogers joins the team, he will become the first out player in the league, something Donovan thinks players and fans are ready for.

He said of Rogers: 'We recently had a player come play with us who has declared publicly that he's gay, and it's been a very, very good thing for our team.'

Emmelie De Forest from Denmark wins Eurovision Song Contest with Only Teardrops. Gay male kiss and marriage in Sweden’s musical tribute. Finland’s Krista Siegfrids kisses female dancer

Denmark has won the gayest ever Eurovision Song Contest, held this year in Malmö, Sweden.

Their song Only Teardrops, performed by Emmelie De Forest had been widely tipped for success.

The contest has long had an enthusiastic gay fan base. But this year there was a new reason for LGBT people to celebrate.

The event saw not one, but two same-sex kisses – the first in its 57 year history.

Swedish comedienne, dancer and television presenter Petra Mede – who hosted the show – ‘married’ two men during her interval act musical tribute.

While shooting his new film Kill Your Darlings, the 'Harry Potter' star reveals he did not stay a novice for long

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed he was given ‘step-by-step instructions’ in filming a gay sex scene.

The ‘Harry Potter’ actor will play famed American poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings.

Speaking to Graham Norton on BBC1, he said: ‘I was doing a gay sex scene and the director (John Krokidas) was giving step-by-step instructions.

‘And the favorite note I have ever had was when we were kissing and the director shouted, “Not like that. Crazy sex kissing!”

Finland’s entry to the Eurovision Song Contest Krista Siegfrids due to kiss one of her dancers at the end of her act in the finals on 18 May but censors may stop her

Gay digital activists All Out are urging the Eurovison Song Contest bosses not to stop a lesbian kiss at the finals tomorrow (18 May).

If the kiss goes ahead, at the end of Finland’s entry, Marry Me, by Krista Siegfrids, it will be the first of its kind since the pan-European TV extravaganza started in 1956.

It will also be seen by 100 million people around the world.

British gay pop singer George Michael was a passenger in a car which crashed during the evening rush-hour

Gay pop singer George Michael has been involved in a car crash on Britain’s M1.

An air ambulance, and other medics, were called to the incident which happened at 5.50pm yesterday (16 May) near the motorway’s (freeway) junction with the M25, the main ring-road around London.

Michael, 49, was a passenger in the car.

A statement from his publicist sent to GSN and other media said: ‘George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident yesterday evening, no third party was involved.

Indian film talkshow The Front Row with Anupama Chopra discusses alternative sexuality in Bollywood this week.

Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival director Sridhar Rangayan, openly gay filmmaker Onir, director Karan Johar and actors Randeep Hooda and Saqib Saleem were guests on the show, broadcasting tonight at 8.30pm.

The guests discuss the recently released Bombay Talkies, an anthology of four short films including one, directed by Johar about a gay relationship.

At the Washington DC screening of Star Trek Into the Darkness this week, Zachary Quinto said that he believes marriage equality is an 'unstoppable wave' in the US at this point.

The openly Quinto, who plays Mr. Spock in the popular film series, says he has no desire to become a politicians but he did campaign for President Barack Obama's reelection and is an outspoken advocate for gay marriage.

Hollywood actress Uma Thurman is set to play anti-gay rights activist Anita Bryant in a biopic.

Bryant was a 70’s singer, beauty queen and celebrity spokesperson for orange juice. She was named Good Housekeeping’s ‘Most Admired Woman in America’ three years in a row.

In 1997, Bryant’s celebrity career collapsed when her anti-gay activist past was revealed. The mother from Florida successfully campaigned to stop gays from teaching or adopting a child in the state.

Campaign launched to urge producers and writers to create wedding episode

The American Civil Liberties Union, which usually advocates for the rights of real-life people, has started a campaign to tru and and get a fictional gay couple married.

That couple is Cameron and Mitchell on ABC's Emmy winning comedy series Modern Family.

A campaign, complete with a website for RSVPs, has been created by the advocacy arm of the civil liberties group called ACLU Action.

Matthew Morrison once had to awkwardly come out as straight to a magazine writer who assumed he was gay.

But that doesn't mean the Glee star is not a fully supportive of LGBT equality. Earlier today, he  released new video for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) in which he speaks out for gay marriage.

HRC, the largest LGBT advocacy organization in the US, got Morrison to take part in its Americans for Marriage Equality campaign which also recently featured Hillary Clinton, among others.

US film-maker from Baltimore will join 10th birthday line-up for queer arts event in north west England

American film-maker, author and actor John Waters is to fulfill his ambition of visiting Britain’s historic port city of Liverpool by taking part in a gay arts festival.

Waters will be joining Homotopia for its 10th birthday celebration.

The queer arts and culture festival which will be held in Liverpool, north west England in November will feature theatre, dance, comedy, art, photography and literary events.

Punter was let go by the Minnesota Vikings after more than eight years to the disappointment of even the governor of the state

Chris Kluwe, the NFL punter who has become a hero in the fight for LGBT equality, will be playing for the Oakland Raiders next season.

Kluwe was cut by the Minnesota Vikings this month after more than eight years on the team. His departure came after he rose to fame as an outspoken ally of marriage equality.

Kluwe, always very active on Twitter, has not yet commented about his hiring which was to be formally announced later today. He will have a one-year contract.

Romance could be brewing among British singers as Rylan Clark has revealed he has sent naked pics to bisexual boy band member Duncan James.

The gay star, who first came to fame on UK reality competition show The X Factor, said he has had a crush on the Blue singer for a long time.

Speaking to Now magazine, Clark said: ‘I’m too embarrassed to tell him [I fancy him], although I did send him a naked picture of myself.

‘He texted me saying it made his day.’

Sardinia, Italy, will host its second pride parade. Thousands of people will march on the beach for the event

Sardinia is uniting for an LGBT pride parade on the beach which will teach the island about gay families and transphobia.

The announcement of the event's details comes after the first pride, last year, was attacked by right-wing politicians who declared the Mediterranean island doesn't need the event.

The ‘Queeresima’ – 40 days of events – will culminate in the final parade on the beach on 29 June. But there’s more to the festival than music and drag queens.

The audience award winners from Amsterdam Transgender Film Festival, TranScreen were announced earlier this week with a documentary/artfilm about 'the smallest drag queen in the world' taking the top slot.

The German film called One Zero One - the story of Cybersissy & BayBjane directed by Tim Lienhard tells the story of Morrocan-German Mourad 'the smallest drag queen in the world' and his partner Antoine. It's described as 'part documentary, part camp-style visual fairy tale'.

People think gay actors are less masculine – but they are still just as good at acting, scientists have proved.

The US research asked 'Can a gay man play it straight?' and looked at perceptions of an actor’s masculinity and performance.

College students were given biographical information on a male actor, including sexual orientation, and shown a video of the actor’s performance.

They were then asked to rate the actor’s performance and the likelihood of casting the actor in their own productions.

Across the globe, there will be several 'kiss-ins' promoting the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

In the UK, Manchester's Lesbian & Gay Foundation will 'Kiss Hate Goodbye' with a flash mob on 18 May.

Grahame Robertson, a spokesman from the charity, told GSN: ‘The Kiss Hate Goodbye flash mob and campaign in general is a chance for everyone to make a big statement against LGBT hate crime.

Iris director Berwyn Rowlands says he is delighted to join the acclaimed representatives of LGBT film at the Kashish festival in Mumbai

India’s premier LGBT film festival has invited the director of Cardiff’s Iris Prize festival to take part in judging this year’s films.

Berwyn Rowlands will sit on the five strong jury at Kashish – also known as the Mumbai Queer Film Festival. It will be held from 22 to 26 May.
