Rugby star Zak Hardaker will meet with members of the LGBT community tomorrow night as part of his 'personal and professional development' after being suspended for using a homophobic slur during a game.

In June the 22-year-old player called Warrington captain Michael Monaghan a ‘fucking fag’ at , for which he received a Charge E offense and a £300 fine ($514, €377).

Hardaker was banned for five games (a Charge E offense means a four to eight game ban), during which time he agreed to work with gay rugby group the Manchester Canalsiders.

On a 12 July broadcast, Taylor called Geelong player Harry Taylor ‘a big poofter’ for doing what he called a ‘royal wave’ when teammates hoisted him on their shoulders in celebration of his 150th game.

Taylor apologized to viewers in a subsequent broadcast saying: ‘In the pre-game show I said something that I regret.

Earlier this month, the actor told a member of the paparazzi to ‘Suck my dick, you faggot’.

He then went on a long, remorseful tour of apologizing for his behavior, calling himself a gay rights activist.

The teens reacted to the controversy, as well as surrounding topics about using homophobic language in everyday speak.

Shia LaBeouf reportedly used a homophobic slur when he was arrested during a performance of Cabaret last night (26 June).

The actor was reportedly disruptive and smoking during the first act of the performance at the Studio 54 theater in New York City.

According to police, LaBeouf was ‘ranting and rambling incoherently, threatening the officers and using offensive language’.

An openly gay Swedish high school student says his principal told him it was his job to clean up homophobic graffiti that had been put up by bullies that were targeting him

An unnamed Swedish teenager has complained that it was left to him to erase homophobic graffiti at his school targeting him by name and says his teachers and principals failed to protect him.

The student has since left his school in Western Sweden to take up an internship but has complained that his principal told him to go and ‘erase the words himself,’ after he was named as a ‘dirty fag’ in graffiti on bathroom walls.

Other graffiti targeting the teen had been scrawled all over the school.

Hollywood actor Channing Tatum has defended his co-star Jonah Hill over his use of the homophobic slur ‘faggot.’

Tatum said Hill is not homophobic at all, and his use of the term is not really a reflection of who he is.

‘I think most of the time when people have to go on and sort of apologize for something it might not come off all that well because it's not actually like what they mean,’ he said.

22 Jump Street actor Jonah Hill has lashed out at a photographer, calling him a ‘faggot’.

But he has immediately apologized, saying he regrets it and has called the slur he used ‘disgusting’.

The US actor had been followed and questioned by a paparazzo from TMZ in Los Angeles.

In an attempt to get him to leave, Hill shouted: ‘Suck my dick you faggot!’

TMZ published the video on its website, condemning him for using homophobic language.

Hill went on the phone to Howard Stern to explain the situation.

George Takei has taken on the Westboro Baptist Church with a video lip syncing Frozen’s Let It Go.

The gay former Star Trek actor has published the video in response to a homophobic cover of the Disney song done by the ‘God Hates Fags’ church.

The video opens with a title card, reading: ‘Presenting the Let It Go cover the world has been waiting for’.

It then cuts to Takei, lip syncing along to Idina Menzel and dancing in front of a green screen.

He is wearing a woolly hat and scarf, pleading with the church to ‘let it go’.

Notorious anti-gay group Westboro Baptist Church are planning to protest the funeral of Maya Angelou because of her pro-gay views.

The US-based group announced on Twitter they had added Angelou, who passed away on 28 May, to their picket schedule.

Angelou, 86 when she died, was a prolific poet, author and activist. She was vocal about her pro-gay views throughout her career.

Hungary must ‘clear the faggot-lobby’ out of its theaters, says a top director who is now the Prime Minister’s culture commissioner.

Imre Kerényi –former director of the country’s National Theater and many other arts companies who is now a politician – made the comment following a Christian Theater Festival.

But his views have been condemned in an open letter to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who Kerényi advises on the ‘preservation and development of Hungary’s cultural values’.

A Jamaican reggae singer has been cancelled from a New York concert because of her homophobic lyrics.

Queen Ifrica was scheduled to perform at the Invasion of the Queens concert, alongside six other prominent Jamaican female musicians, at the Amazura concert hall in Queens, New York.

After a group of over 200 protestors campaigned outside the concert hall against Queen Ifrica, the manager announced she is no longer on the concert schedule.

The group accuses Cher of compounding her 'sins' by 'pandering to the fags/dykes (read: those with discretionary spending money).'

It also launches deeply personal attacks on people in the life of the Oscar, Grammy and Emmy winning entertainer including her mother, her ex-husbands and her children - especially her transgender son Chaz Bono.

A woman who called an openly gay Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer a ‘faggot’ over 60 times has been jailed for 60 days after she threatened to beat him up

A woman who threatened an openly gay member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Canada’s Northwest Territories has been sentenced to 60 days in prison.

The sentence came about after openly gay RCMP Sergeant Jeremie Landry found 34-year-old Diane Koyina passed out in the street in the First Nations community of Behchoko August in far-north Canada’s Arctic Circle.

Landry woke Koyina and was taking her to jail when she let out a torrent of abuse towards him focused on his sexuality, calling him a ‘faggot’ over 60 times and threatening him with violence.

‘Dirty fag’ and ‘he’s going to hell’ were just some of the insults thrown at Tom Daley when he came out in December 2013.

Now a UK artist has taken all the vile anti-gay slurs aimed at the British Olympic diver and turned them into art.

UK based artist Conor Collins created the portrait of Daley by using all the horrible homophobic names he was called on social media when he revealed his sexuality.

Collins revealed the finished portrait on his Twitter account this week (17 April).

Just two months before Brazil hosts the FIFA World Cup, clothing stores are selling T-shirts calling soccer players ‘faggots’.

Sergio K, a Brazilian brand, have revealed several designs for football fans to wear during the June and July sporting season.

The simple T-shirt designs call Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo ‘gay’ and retired Argentine footballer Diego Maradona a ‘maricón’ (a faggot).

The designer defends the T-shirts, which are being sold for around €62 ($85), as ‘irreverent’ and not offensive.

In last month’s New York Time’s article The Decline of the ‘H’ Word Jeremy Peters wrote that while the word ‘homosexual’ for the most part is ‘inoffensive,’ ‘outdated,’ and perhaps ‘innocuous,’ the word nonetheless is viewed by many in our LGBTI community as a pejorative term.
