Gay singer's first single Evergreen/Anything Is Possible tops a BBC list of the bestselling singles of the 21st century

Gay singer-songwriter Will Young’s debut has topped a list of the bestselling singles of the 21st century in the UK.

Revealed by BBC Radio 1 in a list of the 150 bestselling singles, Young’s first single Evergreen/Anything Is Possible sold over 1.7 million copies.

Young slammed the double-A singles last year, calling them ‘dreadful’.

He said: ‘I can't bear 'Evergreen' or 'Anything is Possible', they're absolutely shocking. And you wouldn't believe the amount of money that was spent on those videos. F**king hell! Dreadful videos.
