Claims anyone who ministers knows 'very well that the power of God can change people's orientation'

Televangelist Pat Robertson continued his pattern of anti-gay comments on his 700 Club show Monday when he claimed that gay people can change their orientation just as murderers, rapists and thieves can change.

Robertson was telling his viewers about a case in Ecuador where a politician made anti-gay remarks and was found to have violated his country’s electoral code’s prohibition on discrimination.

Robertson said speaking out against homosexuality is not 'hate speech.'

Irish Hollywood hunk Colin Farrell may be all masculine now, but it wasn’t always the case.

Tonight Show host Jay Leno asked British supermodel Naomi Campbell last week to lend a critical eye on her fellow guest’s pics from his past.

Campbell, known for not holding back, had some rather unflattering words for his posture and swimming costume.

But it was Farrell who put the words in her mouth, saying: ‘Before he asks, the answer is “gay”.’

He added, joking, ‘I was 17, it was 20 dollars, what are you gonna do? ‘

But Cameron Monaghan says his sexuality is not relevant

Cameron Monaghan is straight but he plays gay on TV.

The 19-year-old actor portrays Ian Gallagher on the Showtime series Shameless but until this week, he had not disclosed his own sexuality publicly.

During a Twitter chat with fans this week, he was asked the question.

Monaghan responded: 'This is the only time I will answer this here: No, I'm not gay. Yes, I play a gay character. No, the question should not be relevant.'

Italy’s Prime Minister Mario Monti, who is running for re-election in February, has rejected same-sex marriage.

Interviewed by SkyTg 24, Monti explained: ‘I think that a family is only made of a man and a woman. Children should grow with a father and a mother.’

But he indicated he was in favor of giving same-sex partners some of the rights and responsibilities of married heterosexuals.

‘A parliament could find good solutions for civil partnerships or civil unions. But we can not call them “families”,’ he said.

After decades of development, The Normal Heart will begin shooting in New York City later this year to air on HBO in 2014 with Ryan Murphy as its director, the network announced Friday (4 January).

The film is written by Larry Kramer who also wrote the largely autobiographical Tony Award-winning play on which it is based. It is about the rise of the AIDS crisis in New York City between 1981 and 1984.

Pop star Kelly Clarkson has had rumors surrounding her sexuality for years, but it has never bothered her.

The ‘Catch My Breath’ singer and original American Idol star continues to get the speculation, despite recently becoming engaged to her fiancé Brandon Blackstock.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan magazine, the original American Idol winner attempted to explain where the unfounded rumors could stem from.

‘People think “Oh, she’s been single for too long”,’ she said. ‘That’s kind of an insult to the gay community.

Two women, aged 77 and 85, reflect on their 35 years unable to legally commit to one another

Washington has given out its first same-sex marriage licence to a lesbian couple of 35 years.

Pete-e Peterson, 85, and Jane Abbott Lighty, 77, thought they were going to die without being able to be legally married.

But at midnight on 6 December, they became the first same-sex couple to receive marriage licences in the US state of Washington.

‘It’s been a long journey,’ Petersen said. ‘We’re just blessed with the people we’ve met and the opportunities we’ve had.’

The 2013 David Kato Vision & Voice Award has been awarded to Ali Erol, a leading LGBT activist in Turkey.

Inspired by David Kato's work, the award recognizes those who strive to uphold sexual rights for LGBTI people. It is named after human rights activist David Kato, who was murdered in his home in Kampala, Uganda on 26 January 2011.

The award was presented to Erol today 29 November at Pan-African Parliament in South Africa.

YouTube video mocks US presidential candidate and his supporters for anti-gay policies

A young gay American has made a mock video thanking Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for his homophobic policies.

In the YouTube clip, Bobby Fortworth thanks Romney, potential vice president Paul Ryan and their supporters for letting him know that as a gay man he doesn't deserve the same rights as everyone else.

'Thank you making sure that I remain a second class citizen,' he told viewers.

'Thank you for limiting my rights to get married or adopt children because only heterosexual couples should be able to adopt children.'

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney reiterated his stance against gay marriage this week - even if it was a grandchild of his wanting to marry someone of the same sex.

Romney was asked about gay marriage at a Meet the Candidate event in Coral Gables, Florida, and how he would feel if one of his five sons or grandchildren were gay and wanted to be wed.

Romney promptly reminded the audience that his sons are heterosexual: 'Well, all my children are married, so I'd be very surprised.'

According to Politico.com, the anti-gay politician made reported pleas to Ken Mehlman, the manager of George W Bush’s re-election campaign in 2004.

Mehlman, who drove voters to the polls by focusing on anti-gay marriage legislation, came out in 2010.

When Mitt Romney met a 63-year-old veteran on his campaign tour back in December 2011, he thought it would just be a quick photo opportunity.

What the US Republican presidential candidate didn’t realize was the New Hampshire resident Bob Garon was not sitting with a friend, but with his husband.
