A church in Delaware that put up an electronic billboard that appeared to be critical of same-sex marriage has taken it down and said its message had been misinterpreted but its pastor’s own statements online prove otherwise

A church in New Castle County, Delaware has removed an image from its electronic billboard which appeared to be criticizing efforts in the state to legalize same-sex marriage after it said it had been misinterpreted.

The image on the Glasgow Church billboard showed a Christian cross and an equals sign on a red background with a ‘greater than’ math sign between them – appearing to send the message that religion was more important than marriage equality.

Scotland’s Charity Regulator has upheld is ruling against a Catholic adoption agency and told if it doesn't lift its ban on applications from gay couples it will lose its charitable status

The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has upheld its previous ruling that warned a Catholic adoption agency to stop discriminating against gay people, by excluding them from becoming adopters, or lose its charitable status.

The ruling followed a complaint from the National Secular Society against St Margaret's Children and Family Care Society in Glasgow.

The UK's first openly gay party leader has split up with her long-term partner

Ruth Davidson, leader of the Scottish Conservative party, split up with her partner after five-year relationship after the two have grown apart due to hectic work schedules.

Davidson, the UK’s first openly gay political party leader, split from Saskia Halcrow after a five-year relationship.

Davidson who is 34 year-old lived in a flat with Halcrow, also 34, in the Finnieston area of Glasgow, Scotland.

It is understood that Halcrow, a business analyst, moved out of the flat last month.

While the London 2012 Olympics have been generally hailed as an outstanding success, there is some lingering skepticism as to what legacy the Olympics have left for the UK’s LGBT community – are there more openly gay or lesbian elite athletes? Is there more grass roots participation in sport by LGBT people? It is perhaps too early to know.

Benedict XVI appoints Archbishop of Glasgow Philip Tartaglia to the position, who has previously connected premature deaths to homosexuality

Pope Benedict XVI has appointed a temporary successor to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh.

Archbishop of Glasgow Reverend Philip Tartaglia will govern the vacant diocese until a permanent appointment is made.

It follows Cardinal Keith O’Brien, who has previously compared gay marriage to slavery, resigned after allegations he initiated inappropriate acts with his male priests.

A Catholic adoption agency has been told by Scotland’s Charity Regulator that if it doesn't lift its ban on applications from gay couples it will lose its charitable status

The British Broadcasting Corporation has revealed the beloved drama will not be back for a third series

BBC Three has cancelled the lesbian drama Lip Service, it was announced yesterday (12 January).

Harriet Braun, the show’s creator and executive producer, revealed the corporation had not yet given an explanation for the decision.

Set in Glasgow, Scotland, Lip Service featured the lives of a group of gay women and starred Fiona Button, Laura Fraser, and Heather Peace.

The drama pulled in strong ratings when it launched in 2010, but lost a third of its audience when it moved from a late Tuesday night slot to the more competitive Friday at 9pm.

One of the country's top Catholic clerics has claimed same-sex relationships are ‘morally defective.’

Mario Conti, Archibishop Emeritus of Glasgow also attacked the Scottish Government for the ‘profoundly unwise’ decision to ‘equate homosexual unions with heterosexual marriage’ by legalising marriage equality.

A man has been charged with assaulting Liberal Democrat John Morrison while he was walking home after a Christmas night out

The gay former leader of a local council in Scotland has died after being assaulted in Glasgow city center in the early hours of Saturday (22 December).

John Morrison, 50, was attacked while on his way home to Milngavie, where he lived with his partner, after a Christmas night out.

A man has appeared in court charged with assaulting him.

The former Liberal Democrat leader of East Dunbartonshire Council from 2003 to 2007 was found on Argyle Street at 12.40am.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment but died there.

The Strathclyde Gay and Lesbian Switchboard (SGLS) which was set up on Union Street, Glasgow, in 1977, will shut on Scotland’s Hogmanay (New Years Day).

The charity said its major contributor, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, cut funding two years ago leaving SGLS surviving on savings since.

Another health board recently also scrapped its funding.

The service provides information, advice, arranges support meetings and one-to-one communication for the region's LGBT community.

Same-sex marriage equality has dominated the gay year in Scotland and seen a youthful and dynamic campaign emerge

There’s no doubt 2012 has been a momentous and emotional year for LGBT Scots, as well as an incredibly busy one.

It started off with some sad news for LGBT campaigners not just in Scotland, but across Europe. The death of the former Labour Member of the European Parliament Janey Buchan was a huge loss. Although I never had the chance to meet Janey, her reputation was well known in Scotland as someone who believed strongly in equality for LGBT people the world over.

Man raped near Dowanhill Park in the west end of Glasgow, Scotland

Police have launched an investigation after a man was raped in Glasgow's west end in the early hours of the morning (30 November).

The 25-year-old was attacked between midnight and 02:00 as he walked close to Dowanhill Park, near Hyndland Street and Highburgh Road, reported BBC Scotland.

The man had approached the suspect to ask for a cigarette but was then sexually assaulted.

A Scottish teenager has admitted killing a gay barman who had tried to comfort him over his confused sexuality

A teenager has admitted killing a gay barman who tried to comfort him about his sexuality.

Ryan Esquierdo, 19, strangled to death Stuart Walker, 28 and then set fire to his body on an industrial estate in Cumnock, Ayrshire, last October reported today STV.

Esquierdo was originally charged with murder, but the Crown accepted his plea to the lesser charge of culpable homicide after hearing he had suffered traumatic abuse as a child.

The Equality Network charity won Scotland's Herald society campaigner of the year award for their campaign on marriage equality

In a ceremony at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza hotel today (2 October) the Equality Network won Scotland’s Herald Society Campaigner of the Year award for their equal marriage campaign.

The Equality Network, a Scottish lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality charity, competed alongside fellow nominees Shelter Scotland and Oxfam Scotland, to win the honour of recognition of their efforts to secure equal marriage rights for same-sex couples in Scotland.

Nephew of 62-year-old Michael Polding, who was found killed in his Brighton home, says uncle's death has 'devastated' his family

The nephew of murdered gay Scot Michael Polding has joined police in appealing for help in finding a man wanted in connection with his uncle’s killing.

Police launched a murder investigation after 63-year-old Polding was found dead in his home in the English city of Brighton on 16 July. It is thought that he may have been dead since May.

This week I attended one of many events organized by the Glasgow African-Caribbean Centre to mark fifty years of independence for Jamaica. The event was a debate to discuss the contribution that Jamaica has made to the world as an independent nation, and would Scotland be better if it was also independent?

I believe in independence. I think it’s the normal thing for a country to be, so I was naturally interested to find out what Jamaicans thought of their country’s independence half a century on.

The new Archbishop elect of Glasgow suggests the premature death of a Labour Member of Parliament was due to his sexuality

The new Archbishop-elect of Glasgow Philip Tartaglia, an outspoken critic of marriage equality, has linked a gay Catholic Member of Parliament's early death to being gay.

Tartaglia previously attacked the Scottish government’s and Westminster proposals to legalise gay marriage, but now it's emerged he linked the Labour MP’s death to his sexuality.

David Cairns MP, a former Catholic priest and member of the Scottish Labour Party, died in May 2010 from acute pancreatitis at the age of 44.

Scotland will be first part of UK to legalize same-sex marriage. UPDATE: Full reactions from LGBT campaigners, faith leaders and politicians

Scotland has confirmed it will legalize gay marriage, becoming the first part of the UK to do so.

A bill on the issue will be brought forward in the country's parliament this September.

Today’s decision (25 July) comes after cabinet members of the Scottish National Party (SNP) government met earlier this month to discuss the measures.

Despite widespread support for a change in the law, there has been fierce opposition from some religious leaders and clerics.

Police appeal for information over death of 'kind and caring man' who moved to Brighton for a new life

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a gay Scottish man who moved to Brighton to start a new life in the city's LGBT community.

The 28-year-old from London was arrested last night (22 July) in the UK capital on suspicion of murder and has been taken into custody in Sussex today (Monday).

A murder investigation was launched on Saturday (21 July) after the body of a man was found in a flat in St George's Road, Brighton, last Monday (16 July).

Congregation in central Glasgow has decided to leave Church of Scotland over the issue of gay clergy

A 500-strong church congregation has become the first to split from the Church of Scotland over the issue of gay clergy.

Glasgow’s iconic St George’s Tron church took the decision following a meeting on Monday last week (9 July).

The church’s secession decision is due to last year’s verdict by the general assembly of the Church of Scotland’ to accept gay clergy if they had declared their sexuality and were ordained before 2009.
