While most are supportive, actor Wilson Cruz has harsh words

Jodie Foster's coming out publicly during her speech at Golden Globe Awards had the entertainment industry buzzing Sunday with many celebrities, gay and straight, expressing support or sounding off.

'Aww Jodie foster, I would like to be your friend,' tweeted Tony Award winning actor Alan Cumming, an openly gay actor.

Gay television personality Andy Cohen, host of Bravo's Watch What Happens Live, tweeted: 'MAZEL JODIE!! incredible.'

'I feel like I won the lottery'

At Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards, Victor Garber took some ribbing from George Clooney and others when he arrived to the stage after Argo producer Grant Heslov had begun his acceptance speech.

The fllm, in which Garber portrays a Canadian ambassador in Iran who agrees to hide a group of Americans, won the Best Picture-Drama prize and was also nominated for an Academy Award for best picture.

As he rides that success, Garber is also one of the stars of the new NBC drama Deception which premiered last week and airs on Monday nights in the US.

James Parsons gets nod for Big Bang Theory, Sarah Paulson for Game Change, Tony Kushner nominated for writing screenplay for Lincoln

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association unveiled the nominations for its Golden Globe Awards on Thursday (13 December) and they included some nods for LGBT artists and characters.

Among them are Jim Parsons, the openly gay actor who stars on the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory. Parsons was nominated for best actor in a comedy or musical television series. 

Parsons won the Globe in 2011 and has also won two Emmys for his portrayal of the straight character of Sheldon Cooper.

In a year of strong roles for females, Rooney Mara managed to snag a Golden Globe Award nomination Thursday morning for her role as the bisexual computer hacker opposite Daniel Craig in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

So who is her competition?

Merely a quartet of acclaimed actresses with shelves of awards: Two-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep for The Iron Lady; Tony winner Viola Davis for The Help; Oscar winner Tilda Swinton for We Need to Talk About Kevin; and three-time Tony winner Glenn Close for Albert Norris.
