Gay man tells Democratic party front-runner: 'That's our gal'

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton received some positive reinforcement from a gay man she encountered on the campaign trail on Friday.

Mike Yowell, having coffee with Clinton during her visit to Council Bluffs, Iowa, said: "I was thrilled when you recently urged the Supreme Court to rule in favor of marriage equality. I was like 'That’s our gal. Yes.'"

Yowell clenched his fist and said: 'So thank you.'

Presidential candidate makes strongest statement yet on marriage equality

Just three days after formally announcing her candidacy for the presidency, Hillary Clinton is calling on the US Supreme Court to give same-sex couples the constitutional right to marry.

'Hillary Clinton supports marriage equality and hopes the Supreme Court will come down on the side of same-sex couples being guaranteed that constitutional right,' campaign spokesperson Adrienne Elrod tells Washington Blade.

Engaged couple Jared Milrad and Nathan Johnson were thrilled to be among the Americans featured in the official video kicking off Hillary Clinton's campaign for president.

But the couple, together since 2008, were not thrilled when they found out they are the reason why the video has been slapped with a warning label in Russia.

Russia's Dozhd TV channel put an age 18 and over label on the video because of Russia's anti-gay propaganda law which makes it illegal to 'promote' homosexuality to anyone under 18.

A gay man from San Francisco has launched the Bottom for Hillary campaign, which he describes as a fun way for LGBTI people to show their support for the presidential candidate.

Ryan, 23, said the campaign started as a tipsy conversation between friends – all gay men who support Clinton – that quickly escalated into an Instagram account and T-shirts emblazoned with 'I'd Bottom For Hillary.'

Papers released by the Clinton Library this past week do not show where then First Lady Hillary Clinton stood on the Defense of Marriage Act.

In 1996, the bill passed both the House and Senate by huge margins. 

It was signed into law by President Bill Clinton.

App's Best of 2014 Awards find Clinton 'Straight Ally of the Year' and Vladimir Putin 'Enemy of the LGBT Community'

Hillary Clinton has not yet formally announced her candidacy for President of the United States but she can already count on one block of voters.

Grindr users voted the former Secretary of State, US Senator and First Lady the 'Straight Ally of the Year' in the app's third annual Best of Awards.

In contrast to the support Clinton received, Russian President Vladimir Putin was voted 'Enemy of the LGBT Community' - no doubt for his championing of Russia's anti-gay propaganda law.

On Tuesday's episode of ABC's The View, McCarthy was part of a panel discussion about a new book about the 'hidden lives of presidents' which includes an allegation that former President Bill Clinton currently has a mistress.

Said McCarthy: 'Well, maybe he has his girlfriends and she has her girlfriends. You never know. Maybe they have an arrangement.'

Former and possibly future First Daughter Chelsea Clinton spoke at a Human Rights Campaign event in Las Vegas on Sunday (16 February) and adapted a line from her famous mother when making a point about LGBT equality.

'My mother has often said that the issue of women is the unfinished business of the 21st century,' she said. 'That is certainly true. But so too are the issues of LGBTQ rights the unfinished business of the 21st century.'

A new poll has found that more Americans feel it is acceptable for teenagers to wear clothing with the flag of the side that lost the Civil War to school than the gay rainbow pride flag

Americans find the public display of the Confederate Civil War rebel flag more appropriate than the rainbow gay pride flag according to a recent poll.

A Public Policy Polling robocall telephone poll reported last week that 43% of those surveyed thought that high school students should be allowed to wear Confederate flags while at school, whereas only 28% thought it was appropriate for students to wear the rainbow gay pride flag in school.

Only 9% of Americans thought it was more appropriate to wear the rainbow gay pride flag to school than the Confederate flag.

A homophobic commentator has made the claim that Hillary Clinton could become the first ‘lesbian president’ of the United States.

Bryan Fischer, of the anti-gay American Family Association, made the claims on a video released on the AFA’s website, in which he asserts that Clinton may be having a lesbian affair with her transition office chief Huma Abedin, wife of disgraced ex-congressman Anthony Weiner.

Matthew Morrison once had to awkwardly come out as straight to a magazine writer who assumed he was gay.

But that doesn't mean the Glee star is not a fully supportive of LGBT equality. Earlier today, he  released new video for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) in which he speaks out for gay marriage.

HRC, the largest LGBT advocacy organization in the US, got Morrison to take part in its Americans for Marriage Equality campaign which also recently featured Hillary Clinton, among others.

Sandy Rios of the anti-gay American Family Association warned that ‘homosexual advocacy’ is ‘raping children’ in school and that Bill and Hillary Clinton support gay marriage because they are either bi or even gay.

Speaking on American Family Radio on Friday (22 March) Rios reacted to recent polls showing young people support marriage equality.

She said this was due to the media brainwashing children to hear ‘nothing but positive things about homosexuality and its effects’.

Former Secretary of State has revealed her support for same-sex marriage, fueling rumors she will run again for president in 2016

Hillary Clinton has come out for marriage equality.

On Monday (18 March), the US Democrat made the announcement in an online video released by the gay rights group Human Rights Campaign.

In the five-minute video, she says gays and lesbians are ‘full and equal citizens and deserve the rights of citizenship.’

‘That includes marriage,’ Clinton says, adding she backs same-sex marriage both ‘personally and as a matter of policy and law.’
