The gay sporting star appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show to talk about his life and new autobiography. Ross, who has a gay daughter, personally thanked Thomas for being so open about his sexuality

Gareth Thomas, the former rugby player who came out in 2009, has just published his autobiography, Proud.

On Saturday night he appeared on the Jonathan Ross Show on British's ITV channel, to talk about his career and his previous struggles with his sexuality.

Thomas enjoyed a phenomenal rugby career as a player, and was, until September 2011, the most capped Welsh rugby union player, with 100 appearances for his country.

Show is based on UK series Saturday Night Takeaway but won't air on Saturday nights

Less than a year after How I Met Your Mother left the air, Neil Patrick Harris has booked his next TV gig.

The recent Tony winner will host the US version of the UK series Saturday Night Takeaway for NBC.

Ten episodes of the show have been ordered but they will not air on Saturday nights. The US version does not yet have a title and will be produced by the UK-based ITV.

Underbutler Thomas Barrow tries to change his sexuality with painful injections

The creator of Downton Abbey has revealed that gay underbutler Thomas Barrow will seek a 'cure' for his sexuality in the fifth season of the hit show.

Julian Fellowes said in an interview with ITV, 'He falls for the quackery that this can be cured, that he can get rid of this dumbbell he is dragging around with him. His fortitude takes him through a period of incredible physical discomfort.'

'The result he seeks is impossible – it’s not to be obtained by any medical treatment, it was just quackery.'

An X Factor star has opened up about his childhood, saying he had to defend his gay mother from bullies.

British singer Jack Walton, the 18-year-old currently competing in this year's ITV singing competition show, has revealed he has even had to leave girlfriends as they felt uncomfortable with him being brought up by two women.

The guitar-playing crooner, from the mining town of Castleford in Yorkshire, said he got a lot of hate from his schoolmates when he found out his mother was gay at age 11.

Scheming under-butler Thomas Barrow embarks on a 'harrowing' storyline in show's fifth season

The character of closeted gay under-butler Thomas Barrow on TV's Downton Abbey is going to have his most harrowing episodes yet, according to the actor who plays him.

Rob James-Collier says the character's homosexuality, which not focused on during seasons three and four, will be the focus of the Barrow's storyline when the new season begins Sunday (21 September) on ITV. (It will begin airing in the US early next year.)

Evan Davies is tipped to win Journalist of the Year at the annual event held in London

New BBC Newsnight presenter Evan Davies is expected to win big at the European Diversity Awards.

The gay journalist is among the many names hoping to win one of the coveted awards.

Jane Hill, a BBC newsreader, will host the awards on 2 October in London.

‘’The European Diversity Awards recognize the efforts of people and organisations who are building a society across Europe which embraces all citizens,’ she said.

‘I'm proud to be taking part and highlighting some of the excellent work that is being done to make a lasting difference.’

Former Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou has been confirmed as one of the lead roles in the London production of Next Fall. The Tony-nominated Broadway comedy, which premiered in 2009, is about a gay couple with opposing religious views; one is a devout Christian and the other is an atheist.

Gay Emmerdale soap actress and TOWIE star also share their experiences of being bullied in new film

School bullies threw things at gay British X Factor star Marcus Collins and followed him home from school, he has revealed.

Collins, the openly gay 2011 runner-up in the show, was speaking in an ITV video about homophobic bullying, made in conjunction with leading UK gay charity Stonewall.

Also in the short film, Bobby Norris, star of staged reality show The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE), reveals he was bullied and feared ‘name-calling if I walked down a corridor or went to my locker’.

Several people were outraged on social media, saying the British soap is a 'disgrace' for showing a raunchy same-sex romance

ITV and Ofcom is facing complaints over a half-naked gay kiss on Coronation Street.

Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) and Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou)’s relationship heated up last week, with the 21 February episode featuring a half-naked embrace and kiss.

Around 100 complaints have been made to TV regulator Ofcom over the scene between two men airing before 8pm.

While some of the complaints were about it being too ‘sexually suggestive’, other complaints were homophobic.

The Sun reports ITV bosses are now considering scrapping the diving competition.

A British soap Emmerdale has cut an upcoming transphobic scene after the actress involved complained.

The scene, which would have aired in early 2014, featured four female characters in a gay bar competing to get phone numbers from other women.

The ongoing soap drama cast a trans woman to play the barmaid.

The ‘scatter-brained’ Laurel, played by Charlotte Bellamy, gets a phone number from the barmaid. But her friends and her boyfriend say it ‘doesn’t count.’

A West End star has revealed her charity single Yellow to support LGBT victims around the world.

Jodie Prenger, who had the most ridiculously amazing reaction to winning BBC reality show I'd Do Anything, said she 'leapt to the chance' to raise awareness of the dicrimination many gay people face. It is in support of UK charity Kaleidoscope Trust.

The single, 'Yellow', is one of four celebrating hope, love, trust and an end to hate.

The British Christian owners of a bed and breakfast who refused a gay couple are now preparing to take their case to the Supreme Court

In a case of failing to pick your battles well, Peter and Hazemary Bull are taking their battle to their highest court in the land tomorrow (9 October).

Back in September 2008, the couple had to pay £3,600 ($5.8k, €4.2k) in damages to civil partners Martyn Hall and Steven Preddy from Bristol after they were refused a double room at the Cornwall hotel on religious grounds.

British sitcom Vicious featuring gay actors Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Derek Jacobi was confirmed for a second series today (23 August).

The ITV sitcom features the award-winning actors as a gay couple who have been together for nearly 50 years.

Hobbit star McKellen plays Freddie, a sharp-tongued delusional actor, who lives with boyfriend Stuart in their Covent Garden flat.

ITV’s Director of Television Peter Fincham announced the return of Vicious at the Edinburgh Television Festival.

Barry Cryer, a writer for some of Britain's most legendary performers, has slammed the ITV comedy

ITV sitcom Vicious, featuring gay British actors Sirs Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi, is being described as ‘homophobic’.

Barry Cryer, a veteran comedy writer and performer, accused the comedy’s writers of using gay clichés.

‘A sitcom with two old gays could be really good and moving. With two great actors in Sir Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi it should be fantastic," Cryer writes in Radio Times.

‘But it was insult, insult, insult every other line. You don't believe in them … it made [camp Are You Being Served actor] John Inman look restrained.’

A gay man is blaming ITV reality competition show Britain’s Got Talent for his life now being at ‘rock bottom’.

Scott Whitley, 29, got Simon Cowell and the rest of the judges and audience working out along to his ‘funkacise’ routine during his audition shown in the fourth episode.

After he filmed the audition in January, he took a job as an entertainer with Thomas Cook in Lanzarote.

British openly gay actor was talking on Loose Women about thinking he had contracted HIV after he got bitten by a mosquito

Gay British actor Rupert Everett is in trouble for accidentally using some 'fruity language' on daytime television yesterday (1 May).

The ‘Hysteria’ actor was appearing as a guest on ITV’s Loose Women when he said ‘fuck’ during a discussion about HIV.

Everett was talking about when he was convinced he had contracted HIV when shooting a television show in the 1980s.

He said: ‘For the first few years of HIV, you couldn’t test for it. When my whole career started I thought I was on a death sentence.

The 1959 ITV play South will be aired during the BFI’s 27th lesbian and gay film festival

Possibly the first ever gay drama has been unearthed by the British Film Institute and will be screened on 23 and 24 March.

Airing at the BFI’s 27th lesbian and gay film festival, the 1959 ITV play ‘South’ follows an exiled Polish lieutenant facing up to his demons just before the American Civil War.

Unearthed for the BFI by researcher Peter Scott-Presland, curator Simon McCallum says the drama ‘is a milestone’ in cultural history.
