Not a single Palestinian was invited to speak at a reception held by the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel in honor of IDAHO

The US Embassy in Tel-Aviv, Israel has reportedly excluded Palestinians from speaking at reception in honor of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO).

Although Aswat, a Palestinian organization for Gay Women, was invited to attend, their representative was not allowed to make a speech at the Ambassador's Tel-Aviv residence tonight (16 May).

Lawmakers in Israel form a special pressure group to promote LGBT rights

Memebers of the Kenesset (MKs), Israel’s parliament, are to re-establish a gay pressure group to advance LGBT rights and combat homophobia.

The pressure group or caucus will be headed by MK Nitzan Horowitz (of Meretz party) and Ofer Shelah (of Yesh Atid party), and will be called ‘The Proud Caucus’, announced Horowitz today (20 February) on his Facebook page.

A court appeals committee instructed Israel's defense ministry to compensate a 3 year-old girl who lost her lesbian mother's partner in a fire incident

A court appeals committee set a legal precedent, instructing Israel's defense ministry to  compensate a three year-old girl who lost her mother's female partner.

The court decision recognized yesterday (13 February) the late Faviola Bohadana, as the girl's step-parent, overruling a refusal by Israel's defines ministry.

The girl's biological mother, Rahel Algavassi, has been in a lesbian relationship with Bohadana for five years prior to her death during a large scale fire incident in December 2010.

Israel celebrates its first public wedding between a transgender woman and a man 

The couple, blonde beauty Chen Arizona and her husband, whose identity was not revealed, were cheered by Israeli celebrities, friends and family.

The wedding was televised by Israel’s Channel 2 evening news and watched throughout the country.

Arizona who runs a salon near Tel Aviv, was born Erez Yisraelof, one of four siblings, into a traditional Orthodox Jewish family.

Representative of Israeli political parties promise more action on LGBT rights during a panel debating the upcoming elections and gay rights

During a political panel organized by the Aguda, Israel’s largest LGBT rights group, representatives from the country’s leading political parties vowed to improve LGBT rights.

Politicians representing seven different political attended an election LGBT panel of Otzma, the Aguda’s LGBT political division, where they promised to actively promote and work for improving LGBT rights in Israel.

The panel was the first ever held in the country (4 January), ahead of the country’s general election next month.

A leader of a right wing Israeli political party said Israel must not recognize same-sex marriage

Naftali Bennett, chair of Habayit Hayehudi, a right-wing Israeli religious political party, said that he opposes same-sex marriage.

Israel is in the midst of political campaigns for the country’s elections on the 22 January 2013.

Answering a question regarding same-sex marriage from a student during a political campaign on Tuesday (25 December), Bennett was quoted by the daily Haaretz as saying: ‘These are two clashing values.

Member of Kenesset - Israeli's parliament (MK), Anastasia Michaeli spoke out again (20/6/12) against the Israeli Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community, this time signalling out lesbians: ‘Young girls get pregnant, get abortions — which hurt their chances of having children, and in the end they become lesbians.’
