TV's Sue Sylvester to play even more villainous Miss Hannigan in Annie

Jane Lynch has already shown, week after week on TV's Glee, that she can play the queen of mean just about better than anybody.

The lesbian actress has won an Emmy and a Golden Globe award for her portrayal of Glee's acid-tongue faculty member Sue Sylvester.

It was announced Wednesday (20 February) that Lynch will now be spreading her mean act to the Broadway stage in the musical Annie in the role of evil orphanage matron Miss Hannigan.

Jane Lynch was host of the Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne Barr over the weekend and couldn’t resist taking a jab at a fast food chain that doesn’t think marriages like hers to Dr. Lara Embry should be allowed to happen.

Before introducing the evening’s honoree, The Emmy-winning Glee star took not of the female roasters on hand including Carrie Fisher, Katey Sagal and Ellen Barkin and cracked: 'This show is serving up more old spoiled hens than a Chick-Fil-A.'

Then she added a real zinger.

'Oh, that reminds me… Fuck Chick-fil-A.'

Play is available royalty free for non-profit organizations and schools

Dustin Lance Black's play chronicling the historic trial challenging California’s Proposition 8 has just booked its 200th reading which will take place in Fargo, North Dakota, the Oscar winning screenwriter said Wednesday (18 July).

The play, simply called 8, has been performed in two star-studded benefit readings in New York and Los Angeles attracting such talent as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Martin Sheen, Jane Lynch and Matt Bomer.

Festival marking its 30th year and is honoring John Waters

Los Angeles's gay and lesbian film festival, Outfest, kicks off its 30th year tonight by honoring filmmaker John Waters and screening a documentary about activist and film historian Vito Russo.

Walters will be on hand to receive the 16th annual achievement award which has previously gone to Jane Lynch, Sir Ian McKellen, Gus Van Sant, Todd Haynes, and Bill Condon, among others.

Both are married to the woman of their dreams, both have won Emmys, and both have stylish short blond hair.

So what else do Ellen DeGeneres and Jane Lynch have in common?

Both will receive their stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced.

DeGeneres and Lynch are among the 24 names from the world of movies, television, theater and music who will be immortalized on the sidewalks of Hollywood.

It used to be that when a major star came out as gay, they got an entire magazine cover to themselves.

Ellen DeGeneres got the Time cover, Lance Bass and Clay Aiken got People covers and Sean Hayes was among the many stars to have gotten an Advocate cover.

In the current issue of Entertainment Weekly which hit newsstands Friday (22 June), eight openly gay celebrities share the cover for a 'special report' called The New Art of Coming Out.

Performance that starred Brad Pitt and George Clooney will air on radio to celebrate Gay Pride Month

The pro-gay play ‘8’, led by Hollywood actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt, will be heard again across American radio stations in June.

A recording of the 3 March performance, which also starred gay actors Jane Lynch and George Takei, will be played on 90.7 KPFK in Southern California, 89.7 WGBH in Boston, 91.5 WBEZ in Chicago, 89.3 WPFW in Washington, D.C. and over 100 other stations nationwide.

It will air on radio as part of the Gay Pride Month celebrations.

'The fight for LGBT rights is consistent with that most important part of America's character'

President Barack Obama, facing a tough reelection fight against presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney this fall, released a new campaign video on Wednesday (23 May) highlighting his record on LGBT issues.

The video, narrated by Glee star Jane Lynch, includes footage from Obama's recent interview with ABC's Robin Roberts during which he publicly supported gay marriage as well as video of his It Gets Better video and footage from his appearance at the Human Rights Campaign dinner a few years ago.

Powerful marriage equality courtroom drama performed in Melbourne and Sydney in June

A courtroom drama about the legal battle to overturn Proposition 8 that re-banned gay marriage in California in 2008 is coming to Australia.

Saturday's benefit reading of 8 to benefit American Foundation of Equal Rights

As if having a cast that includes George Clooney, Matt Bomer, Kevin Bacon, Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison wasn't already star-studded enough, Brad Pitt has been added to the cast of the benefit reading of the play 8 taking place Saturday (3 March) in Los Angeles.

The play based on the transcripts of the trial which led to an appeals court striking down California's Proposition 8 last month. Pitt will play the part of US District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker who found Proposition 8 unconstitutional after presiding over the historic twelve-day public trial.

The character of Dave Karofsky (played by Max Adler) is a former bully himself who channeled his own self-loathing by tormenting one of the school's most openly gay students, Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer). It is Kurt who is there for Karofsky and when he visits his former bully in the hospital, helps him imagine his future.

Jane Lynch was an at an event leading up to the NASCAR Daytona 500 auto race over the weekend when the Glee star found herself face-to-face with Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

'It was like small talk, but he didn’t really hear a word I said,' the Emmy winner tells Politico. 'It affirmed for me that the guy does not know how to relate to people.'

Colfer took to Twitter after the nominations were announced and did not mention the snub. Instead, he focused on the show being nominated and the fact that he has reached the legal drinking age of 21.
