Sports legends Martina Navratilova and John Amaechi join business leaders at global gay workplace summit in London

Business leaders will meet in London this summer to discuss how to increase workplace equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees around the world.

The Out & Equal summit on 5 and 6 July coincides with the UK capital holding this year’s World Pride – Gay Star News is a partner of both events.

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has held a ‘Diversity Day’ today (6 March) to back it’s social credentials.

LOCOG bosses were joined for the day by Britain’s equality minister, Lynne Featherstone MP, and members of the LOCOG diversity board, including gay former-NBA star John Amaechi.

Star-studded British Student Pride debate also discusses bullying, female invisibility, trans issues and marriage

Homophobia in sport and education were among the issues to dominate the debate at Student Pride in Brighton today, with NBA basketball star John Amaechi describing sports bosses as ‘stupid’.

Early estimations suggest over 1,000 students from across the UK, including foreign students studying in Britain, are attending the event at the Dome in Brighton. Gay Star News is one of the media sponsors.

Retired gay Major League Baseball star Billy Bean says 'It's going to take maybe just one special guy who can really move that ball forward'

As 2011 draws to a close, the major U.S. professional sports of football, basketball and baseball still have never had an active male player declare that they are gay.

There are still only handful who have even done so in retirement.

Among them is retired baseball pro Billy Bean who played for San Diego Padres, Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Dodgers during the 90s and came out publicly in the 2003 memoir Going The Other Way.
