KUCW-TV will air the comedy each week before Saturday Night Live

NBC's Utah affiliate KSL-TV in Salt Lake City may have refused to air the comedy The New Normal but rival station KUCW-TV has no problem with the comedy about a gay couple starting a family with the help of a surrogate.

KUCW will air the show on Saturdays at 10 pm ahead of Saturday Night Live, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

KSL-TV meets with LGBT families but still won't air gay-themed show

NBC's Utah affiliate KSL-TV in Salt Lake City is not backing off its decision not to air the new comedy The New Normal about a gay couple starting a family with the help of a surrogate mother.

So Equality Utah and the Utah Pride Center announced Friday (31 August) that they have teamed with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to host a free public screening of the show followed by a panel discussion sometime next month.

Actor Andrew Rannells has shared his frustration at the backlash The New Normal has received, despite the show not even being aired yet.

NBC affiliate KSL-TV has refused to air the show because its subject matter infringes on Mormon beliefs, and infamous anti-gay organization One Million Moms has boycotted the series.

Despite airing other programs which oppose Mormon beliefs, KSL-TV has barred the series by Glee creator Ryan Murphy

Glee creator Ryan Murphy’s new NBC series The New Normal will not be shown by the network’s Utah affiliate KSL-TV because of its gay content.

Owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the CEO Jeff Simpson said the show which features a gay couple does not match up to its ‘brand’.

‘From time to time we may struggle with content that crosses the line in one area or another,’ Simpson said. ‘The dialogue may be excessively rude and crude. The scenes may be too explicit or the characterizations might seem offensive.
