Just five months ago, Steve Grand was unknown.

So the openly gay singer who became a YouTube sensation in July with his video All-American Boy is feeling especially grateful this Thanksgiving.

'I'd like to wish all of you a very special Thanksgiving!' Grand wrote in a Facebook post to supporters on Thursday (28 November).

Joy and emotion marks weekend Finish Line Ceremony in LA

As Kelly Clarkson's song What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) played ocver the loudspeakers on the grounds of the VA Center in Los Angeles, Sean Mamola stood waiting for the last rider to cross the finish line of the 2013 edition of AIDS/LifeCycle.

The New York City resident (pictured, right) had finished the 570-mile trek from San Francisco to Los Angeles a few hours earlier but like the thousands of others at Saturday's Finish Line Festival, he wasn't ready for the experience to end.

She will be joined by R&B superstar Beyoncé, who will sing the national anthem, and James Taylor performing 'America the Beautiful'.

The singer, songwriter and occasional actress who made her name through TV talent contest American Idol has been subject to rumours about her sexuality but insists that if she was gay, she would just come out and say it.

She said: ‘I'm not gay. If I was, I'd say: “I love women!” That's why it drives me nuts. But I feel like even if I did say it, people would be like, ‘you're just trying to do that to win the gay audience’.’
