Gay navy veteran proposes to homecoming marine

Cory Huston surprises US marine boyfriend Avarice Guerrero with marriage proposal at San Diego military base

A gay US marine returning from Afghanistan was given a surprise welcome home when his boyfriend got on one knee and proposed to him at his base in San Diego.

Navy veteran Cory Huston, who was discharged under the former Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy, popped the question to marine Avarice Guerrero at southern California's Camp Pendleton on Tuesday (24 April).

It is one of the first proposals between two gay men on a military base.

California activists request a navy ship be named after civil rights icon Harvey Milk

California congressman Bob Filner has urged the US Navy to name 'the next appropriate ship' after late gay politician Harvey Milk.

Gay rights group, the GLBT Historic Task Force of San Diego County, sent an official letter last week to Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus requesting a Navy vessel be named after Milk, reports LGBT Weekly.
