OutServe-SLDN is asking the US Defense Department to reconsider Pastor Greg Laurie as the headline speaker at next week's National Day of Prayer.

The advocacy organization that works with LGBT military members, veterans and their families insists the minister's anti-gay past makes him an unacceptable speaker for an open military.

Twenty-year-old American Cason Crane, who has climbed five of the world's highs mountains to raise money for LGBT youth suicide prevention, is in Singapore tomorrow.

Crane will meet with young LGBT people under 25 at an event organized by Young Out Here.

Chief Warrant Officer Charlie Morgan, a vocal opponent against the Defense of Marriage Act, died earlier today (10 January).

While Don't Ask, Don't Tell is officially gone, gay troops, and their families, still fight struggles far from the battlefield.

David Hall was discharged from the United States Air Force because he was gay and wrote to President Barack Obama about the pain of having his military career end that way.

On Monday (21 January), Hall will be at the Capitol as one of eight citizen co-chairs of Obama's second inauguration.

Last week (27 Dec.) New Hampshire Governor-Elect Maggie Hassan announced the details of her upcoming inaugural ceremony. Charlie Morgan, a chief warrant officer in the state's National Guard, will open the ceremony by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Morgan, and her wife, are two of the plaintiffs involved in a lawsuit against the Defense of Marriage Act.

The number of staff working in London’s LGBT sector has dropped by 20% in just two years as Britain’s austerity era hits charities.

The new London LGBT Almanac, now in its second edition and published by Kairos in Soho (KiS), also reveals the LGBT sector has 0.038% of the income of London’s voluntary sector.

Although gay troops can now serve openly in the  US military, their families are still invisible.

In 1996, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) passed the Congress and was signed into law by then President Bill Clinton. The law keeps the government from recognizing same-sex marriages, even in states where gay marriage is legal. Couples cannot file joint federal tax returns or receive survivor benefits.

It's not until the tenth paragraph of a press release sent out this week by the newly-merged OutServe and Servicemembers Legal Defense Network that it is mentioned that their new executive director is a transgender female.

Instead, there is focus on Allyson Robinson being a graduate of West Point and being a former officer in the US Army. She lives in Maryland with her wife of 18 years and their children.
