'Is there anyone who doesn't think Queen Latifah is a lesbian?'

Alec Mapa, best known for his recurring role as fashion reporter Suzuki St. Pierre on ABC's Ugly Betty, is performing in his first LA Pride this weekend.

It's a bit surprising since the actor, stand-up comic and self-proclaimed 'America's Gaysian Sweetheart' has long been out and proud and lives in Los Angeles.

Queen Latifah  swats away coming out rumors

Rumors about the sexuality of singer and actress  Queen Latifah have circulated throughout her career. They were intensified by her 19 May performance at the Long Beach Gay Pride parade. She recently told the magazine Entertainment Weekly that showing up at a gay pride event should not be interpreted as her 'coming out.'

'That definitely wasn’t the case,' she said. 'I’ve never dealt with the question of my personal life in public. It’s just not gonna happen.'

Music and film star referred to crowd in Long Beach as 'her people'

When it was announced that Queen Latifah would be a headliner at last weekend's Long Beach pride festival in Southern California, there was immediate speculation that the Oscar-nominated actress might be making some kind of announcement.

'I've been waiting to do this for a long time,' she said to the crowd before performing some of her early hip-hop hits during a short set on Sunday (20 May).

But Latifah did not make any headline-grabbing remarks that might shed any definitive light onto her often-speculated about sexuality.
