Liberace’s most famous gay lover is to face up to 20 years in jail after repeatedly failing drug tests.

Scott Thorson, 54, spent five years with the pianist and wrote about his experiences in the book Behind The Candelabra: My Life With Liberace.

He was sentenced to eight to 20 years in a Nevada jail yesterday (23 January) for failing a string of drug test while on probation for burglary and identity theft convictions.

Michael Douglas won the Golden Globe Award on Sunday night for his portrayal of the late gay entertainer Liberace in the TV movie Behind the Candelabra.

It was the fourth career Globe for Douglas who also won the Emmy for Candelabra beating out co-star Matt Damon both times.

In his speech before a star-studded crowd at the ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Douglas called Damon 'the bravest, most talented actor I've ever worked with. The only reason (he's) not here is I had more sequins.'

Orange is The New Black, Behind the Candelabra and Blue is the Warmest Color get nods

Michael Douglas and Matt Damon got their second major acting nominations in two days for their performance as a gay couple in HBO's Behind the Candelabra.

The actors both received Golden Globe Award nods early Thursday (12 December) after being nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards a day earlier.

Candelabra, about the relationship between Liberace and Scott Thorson, got four nominations overall including Best TV Movie or Miniseries and a supporting actor nod for Rob Lowe's turn as a plastic surgeon.

Scott Thorson, the one-time romantic partner of the late Liberace, is back in jail.

Thorton was arrested by deputies in Washoe County in Nevada for allegedly violating his probation and for failing to appear in court, according to TMZ.com.

'This was a two hander – and you’re only as good as your other hand,' he said to Damon.

Scott Thorson, Liberace's chauffeur and former lover, will be watching the Emmy Awards from home like most of us.

According to the entertainment site TMZ, Emmy officials  stated Thorson doesn't have a ticket and the program is sold out.

In the middle of the summer, Thorson pled guilty to burglary and identity theft.

The plea was for a crime from this past February. Part of the arrangement was he attend adult drug court.

A spokesman for the star confirmed today that Jackson and husband Monte Lapka have split after 13 years together. They were married in 2011 when same-sex marriage became legal in New York.

In a statement to Playbill, a spokesman for Jackson called it an 'amicable parting and, understandably, a private matter.'

Behind the Candelabra, the critically-acclaimed and highly-rated HBO film about Liberace, won the Critics Choice Television Award on Monday (10 June) for best movie or miniseries.

The film's leading man, Michael Douglas, also won the award for best actor in a movie or miniseries over the field that included his co-star Matt Damon who played Liberace's lover Scott Thorson in the film.

The awards were presented at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and are voted on by the 86 members of the Broadcast Television Journalist Association.

Liberace's chauffeur allegedly met Jackson in the late 1970s. Their relationship started when the pop star was about to release his sixth studio album.

'It was right around the time Thriller was coming out and Michael and I became lovers,' Thorson said in an interview with The Sun.

Thorson insists Jackson was attentive in the seven year romance.
