Boyfriends were left confused after receiving the bill from the London café

A British couple are upset after going to a café and being handed a bill with the word 'gays' written at the top.

Kevin Reeves, 27, and his boyfriend Tyrone Herlihy, 26, visited the café in Walthamstow, north east London last Thursday where they typically meet for lunch.

'We went in, ordered with the usual waitress. There were only three other men in the café and they were all sat alone,' Reeves told RUComingOut.

Gay man went to go to the North Hollywood dry cleaners to get four throw pillows cleaned, but one of them was torn and damaged

A dry cleaner in North Hollywood is being accused of homophobia after allegedly calling a customer a 'buggerer' and 'sodomite'.

Byron Batistaa says he went to Rosali Cleaners to have four throw pillows laundered. When he returned to collect them, three were cleaned but the fourth was torn and damaged.

When he complained, the owner accused him of doing something bizarre.

'[They] blamed me and said I tore them apart all the while running behind her counter, flipping me off and pretending to stick her finger in her backside,' Batista told Frontiers.

'It was a tremendous night for a kid like me. What an honor,' Roberts told viewers.

On Saturday, while accepting an award named for the late activist and media figure Vito Russo, Roberts grew emotional when he thought back to those days when he was a kid.

Claims he acted in self defense

A college football player has been kicked off his team after he was arrested for punching a gay couple he saw kissing on the street.

Running back Steward Butler, 23, was charged with two counts of battery Wednesday (6 May) against Casey Williams, 20, and Zack Johnson, 21, in Huntingdon, West Virginia last month.

The Marshall University senior jumped out of the car he was riding in with his former teammates and punched both men in the face.

Mx is already used by government departments, councils and universities throughout the UK

The gender-neutral title Mx may be added to the next edition of the Oxford English Dictionary after it is already in use throughout British public services.

Mx is used throughout the country by high street banks, government departments, councils and some universities; it is also accepted on driving licenses and by the Royal Mail.

Now the Oxford English Dictionary is considering the inclusion of the gender-neutral honorific in the dictionary’s new edition, alongside the traditional Mr, Mrs and Miss.

'These employees intentionally tried to make me sick'

A gay man has said he was called a 'faggot' by a MacDonald's employee, then given a 'completely raw burger seeping with blood.'

Luis Hernandez, 24, went to a branch of the fast food chain in Puyallup, Washington state around 3.35pm on Sunday (19 April).

The student said as he was ordering, he could hear the manager 'scolding and humiliating' an employee.

'I found that to be completely disrespectful and unprofessional and decided to voice my opinion to the employee that was taking my order,' he told Gay Star News.

'I'm proud to be gay so there's no issues there'

Sam Smith has said he would rather be called a faggot than fat.

The British singer, 22, who recently lost 14lbs in 14 days, said he had been 'controlled' by food for most of his life.

'When I was at school and wasn't having a great time or when music wasn't going very well,' he said during an interview with Australia TV show 60 Minutes on Sunday (19 April).

'I would eat, eat. Eating would make me feel better, when I felt lonely I would eat.'

A white supremacist who admits to killing his gay ex-employer at a North Carolina college has said he feels no remorse and that he had done 'the world a favor.'

Kenneth Morgan Stancil III, 20, shot Ron Lane, 44, Monday (13 April) after he was dismissed for too many absenses.

He was arrested the next day while sleeping on a Florida beach, about 500 miles from Wayne Community College in Goldsboro.

Former student with neo-Nazi facial tattoo confesses to the killing

A gay employee at a North Carolina community college was shot dead Monday (13 April) morning by a white supremacist in what may have been a hate crime.

Ron Lane, 44, was shot once with a 12-gauge shotgun at the school's print shop, where he was the director, by a former student whom he dismissed from a work-study program for too many absenses.

Kenneth Morgan Stancil III, 20, confessed to the killing the next day after he was  arrested while sleeping on a Florida beach, about 500 miles from Wayne Community College in Goldsboro.

Says Australian PM Tony Abbott deserves more credit for accepting her

Catherine McGregor, the world’s highest ranked transgender military officer, has said words cannots describe how 'excrutiatingly painful' the effects of gender dysphoria are.

The Australian Defence Force lieutenant-colonel said those effects nearly drove her to suicide at an inspiring speech on Wednesday (8 April) in Canberra.

'I functioned as a male until a few weeks after my 56th birthday. I choose the term “functioned” advisedly, because my relationship to my birth gender was fraught from a very young age,' she said.

'Hen' can refer to a transgender person or someone whose gender is unknown or irrelevant.

The gender-neutral pronoun 'hen' will be included in the official Swedish dictionary, the language's regulator said on Tuesday (24 March).

'Hen' will be added to 'han' (he) and 'hon' (she) in the new edition of the Svenska Akademiens ordlista, or SAOL, which goes on sale on 15 April.

The pronoun can be used to refer to a transgender person or someone whose gender is unknown or irrelevant.

'For those who use the pronoun, it's obviously a strength that it is now in the dictionary,' an editor at the Swedish Academy, Sture Berg, told AFP.

At only 13, articulate Tom Sosnik has all the makings of a future TED speaker.

After reading the suicide note of Leelah Alcorn in December, the Californian teen decided to 'embrace his truth.'

And Sosnik came out as transgender in a powerful speech at his school.

'I am no longer Mia. I never really was,' he said.

'And now I finally stand before you in my true and authentic gender identity as Tom. I stand before you as a 13-year-old boy.'

Sosnik recalled how he struggled with his gender identity throughout sixth grade.

A Connecticut teacher has been suspended for reading an explicit poem about gay sex in class.

According to students at Windsor High School, David Olio read a 1968 poem by Allen Ginsberg which describes a sexual encounter between two men.

As if Neil Patrick Harris wasn't getting enough flack already, the Oscar host also got slammed this week by members of the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church for stripping down to his tighty whites.

The hate group protested outside the Oscars in Hollywood on Sunday then demonstrated outside the offices of The Hollywood Reporter the next day as part of a protest against the media.

A Hollywood Reporter editor met with the protesters and asked Shirley Phelps-Roper what she thought of Harris' underwear stunt which was a spoof of a Michael Keaton scene in Birdman.

Her latest social media musings comes after the bisexual rapper slammed the 'evil' gay white media earlier this week following a Twitter spat with a gay journalist.

Attack by McCleish Christmas Benham went viral after being captured on YouTube by fellow traveler

A Tennessee man who physically attacked a male bystander at Dallas Fort-Worth Airport and hurled anti-gay slurs at him has been fined just $474 for the incident.

McCleish Christmas Benham did not face jail time or hate crime charges for the October attack.

Benham, 28, did not show up for his court date so he was convicted on charges of public intoxication and simple assault - both misdemeanors that are each punishable by a maximum $500 fine.

Activists say recognition on travel documents will help tackle discrimination

Nepal yesterday (7 January) announced plans to add a third gender category to passports, following a 2007 Supreme Court ruling recognizing third gender.

'We have changed the passport regulations and will add a third category of gender for those people who do not want to be identified as male or female,' Lok Bahadur Thapa, chief of the government’s passport department, told Reuters.
