A US heavyweight champion fighter, who insulted a man on Instagram with comments like ‘fag shit’ and ‘homosexuality is a sin’, has blamed a hacker who stole his phone for the outburst.

Jon Jones, the youngest Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) in the history of the sport, is in hot water after his tirade on the social media site earlier this week (15 April).

Swedish man Danii Javid was the recipient of the homophobic slurs.

Video shows members of performance art group being attacked in public plaza

Video of members of the performance art group Pussy Riot being attacked with horsewhips by Cossack militia emerged Wednesday and is quickly causing outrage.

The pro-gay, anti-Putin group was trying to perform in Sochi, Russia, under a sign advertising the Winter Olympics.

As they pulled out a guitar and microphone,  at least 10 Cossacks and other security officials moved in.

The women chanted in Russian: 'Putin will teach you to love the Motherland,' the name of the song for which they had arrived in Sochi to make a new protest video.

Ivan Okhlobystin, the actor and former Russian Orthodox priest who said he wanted to ‘burn homosexuals alive,’ is being taken to court over those comments by a gay activist

An LGBTI Russian activist is taking homophobic actor Ivan Okhlobystin to court over his comment that homosexuals should be ‘thrown in a furnace while they are still alive.’

Okhlobystin made the comments during a speech to fans in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk in December – also adding that he wanted ‘faggots’ stripped of their voting rights because they are a ‘psychical anomaly.’

Greg Lupfer's outburst at Washington State player caught by ESPN cameras

The defensive line coach for the Colorado State University football team has been suspended without pay for two weeks after hurling an anti-gay slur at a player on the opposing team.

Greg Lupfer was caught by ESPN cameras saying what appeared to be the words 'f*cking faggot' at Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday, according to

The outburst occurred after Halliday threw a touchdown pass in the first half of the game which Colorado went on to win 48-45 win.

Trio of vigilantes, part of a group that were condemned by LGBTI groups and Muslim community, will be in prison from 24 weeks to 17 months

Three anti-gay thugs, who called themselves the ‘Muslim Patrol’ in London, have been jailed.

The trio were a part of a group that targeted gays, women and many others. In their attempts to impose sharia law in the East London streets, they recorded many of their attacks and posted them on YouTube.

Jordan Horner, 19, Ricardo McFarlane, 26, and a third man who cannot be named for legal reasons pleaded guilty on Friday (6 December).

They admitted to a variety of charges, including actual bodily harm and affray.

British Olympic diver called 'faggot' and more on social media

Tom Daley coming out as bisexual is the top trending topic on Twitter today - even ahead of Cyber Monday.

While the 19-year-old athlete has received scores of supportive tweets - including from such famous gays as Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Collins and Stephen Fry - there has been an onslaught of negative feedback ranging from snarky to homophobic slurs.

Alec Baldwin is spreading the blame around for the demise of his MSNBC talk show including on 'the fundamentalist wing of gay advocacy.'

Earlier today (26 November), Baldwin and MSNBC said in a joint statement that they had mutually agreed to stop making Up Late With Alec Baldwin. The show was already struggling in the ratings before Baldwin was caught by TMZ cameras calling a photographer a 'cocksucking fag.'

Baldwin continues to deny he used the word 'fag' and claims he did not know 'cocksucker' was an anti-gay slur.

A gay former marine, currently working as a waitress at an Asian restaurant in Bridgewater, New Jersey, has spoken out about the alleged horrific treatment she received from a couple with two young children.

Dayna Morales, a server at Gallop Asian Bistro, introduced herself to the family.

Shocked by her short hair, the mother allegedly said ‘Oh, I thought you were gonna say your name is Dan! You sure surprised us!’

It was not until more than 300 words into an email to his University of Texas swim teammates that Matt Korman was finally able to write the words: 'I'm actually gay. (There, I finally said it).'

Korman preceded the big reveal by sharing how he had grown depressed and was having trouble sleeping and eating. He was even considering quitting the sport.

A straight poet has posed a controversial question: what if God is gay?

A Youtube video gone viral captures 20-year-old Elliot Darrow passionately performing his poem for the University of North Carolina during the final stages of the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational.

Darrow, according to The Times Magazine Swampland Blog, describes himself as a straight male but says it is his religion that ‘drives his writing’.

Jared Fox says he was called a 'faggot' and asked: 'Do you want to die?'

A New York man has made a nearly 10-minute YouTube video detailing what he says was a hate crime attack against him by a mob outside a gay bar in Cleveland, Ohio.

'One of them said, "Do you want to die?" and I thought, "No."' Jared Fox said through tears.

Fox was visiting his hometown when the alleged incident occurred on 31 August. It is being investigated by Cleveland police as a robbery and possible hate crime. No arrests have been made but there is survelience footage .

World's most renowned dictionary of the English language and several other British dictionaries have changed their definition after England and Wales made same-sex marriage law

The world’s most renowned dictionary of the English language has officially changed the definition of ‘marriage’ to include gay people.

Oxford English Dictionary online now acknowledges marriage is no longer defined as being between a man and a woman.

Future paper editions published of the dictionary will have the new, updated definition of the word.

Compilers for the OED have added ‘the relation between persons married to each other’ to its definition ‘the condition of being a husband or wife.’

Owned by US supermarket chain Walmart, ASDA removed the trans dinosaur card after customers pointed out it was offensive

UK supermarket chain ASDA has removed a ‘Tranny-saurus Rex’ card after complaints from angry customers.

Writer and digital artist Tamlyn MacPherson discovered the greeting card sold for £1.50 ($2.30, €1.75) at the supermarket, owned by US company Walmart.

The card shows two cavemen made of modelling clay staring at a green dinosaur in a pink wig, lipstick and handbag and saying, ‘Oh look! A Tranny-saurus!’

A mother is furious after her son was attacked in a Florida Walmart for wearing a 'girly' headpiece

A two-year-old boy was called a ‘faggot’ and assaulted for wearing a pink hairband.

Dexter Vyktoriah was with his 31-year-old mom Katie and five-month-old sibling out shopping in Wallmart in Polk County, Florida.

Mother Vyktoriah was shocked when an unknown man, who she describes as being ‘overly large with a bushy beard and camouflage shirt’ approached the family.

‘He had tattered shorts and lace-up work boots with no laces. I could smell the fug of cigarette smoke surrounding him, and there was a definite pong of beer on him.’

Kirill Kalugin manages to say to attackers: 'You guys are animals'

A gay rights activist was attacked in St. Petersburg today by a group of drunken former Russian servicemen.

Kirill Kalugin was conducting a solo protest against Russia's anti-gay law in Palace Square when he was surrounded by the group who had gathered there to celebrate Russian Paratroopers Day.

The men began pushing Kalugin then formed a human chain around him. He was also called a 'faggot' at one point then pushed and choked.

Police arrived and were able to remove Kalugin from the scene without his being seriously injured.

World's most renowned dictionary of the English language has said they are looking into how same-sex couples marrying in England and Wales will affect the word

The world’s most renowned dictionary of the English language has said the definition of ‘marriage’ will change to include gay people.  

The home of the Oxford English Dictionary, England, has recently passed a law allowing same-sex couples to get married.

While the definition and the law did not change simultaneously, the brains behind the words say they will monitor how the word marriage changes over the next year.

Christine Quinn says Weiner called her and 'clarified the interaction'

New York City mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner does not want anyone to think he approves of an elderly female supporter of his referring to his lesbian opponent Christine Quinn as a 'dyke.'

During a campaign trail encounter this week, Weiner encountered the woman as she was wheeling a shopping cart past him.

When he asked if she was a registered Democrat, the woman said: 'I am. And I’m not voting for uh, what’s her name? The dyke.'

Weiner replied: 'Okay. I just need you to sign the petition to get me on the ballot.

Lord John Browne, openly gay former boss of BP highlights none of Britain’s top 100 companies are headed by an out LGBT person

Google, BP and Barclays Bank have signed up for a new networking club designed to push LGBT executives to the head of the boardroom table.

OUTstanding In Business was set up with the backing of Lord John Browne, former CEO of BP, who points out not a single FTSE 100 company is led by an openly gay or lesbian business person.

Browne himself hid his sexuality for years and only came out after quitting BP in 2007.

After becoming the ninth victim of an anti-gay attack in New York City in the past month, activist Eugene Lovendusky is speaking out.

Lovendusky, the 28-year-old founder of the group Queer Rising, was leaving a gay nightspot Saturday (25 May) night near Manhattan's Times Square when he was confronted by a group of male teens.

New York City gay activist allegedly punched in the jaw as a group of men yell anti-gay slur

There has been another anti-gay attack on a New York City street.

According to a Facebook posting by Alan Bounville, on Friday (24 May) Eugene Lovendusky was allegedly attacked by  9 to 10 men. The crime occurred in a predominately gay neighborhood called Hell's Kitchen.
