Love conquers all – and whether or not the US Supreme Court rules for gay marriage, these kids have won our hearts.

As the Justices sit today and tomorrow to hear vital cases on Proposition 8 and DOMA, crowds have flocked to Washington DC to have their say.

And while the anti-gay protestors are emphasizing hate, calling for the death penalty for ‘fags’, there’s a message of love and hope from those supporting same-sex marriage equality.

The Facebook page of a high school in Nuoro, Sardinia, made the headlines after a list of 'faggots' was posted on it. Students protested shouting 'No to homophobia'

Italy’s leading students’ association has called for ‘the end of gay hate on Facebook. We need a law against discrimination on social networks.’

Rete degli Studenti Medi’s spokesman Daniele Lanni said: ‘We have to stop gay hate, we can not allow stupid people to comment and insult LGBT students.’

Lanni’s statement came after an episode of discrimination at the Liceo Classico Asproni high school in Nuoro, on the Italian island of Sardinia.

'You can go on Twitter and say ‘Michelle Shocked says God hates fags'

Singer Michelle Shocked is suffering backlash after going on an anti-gay tirade in, of all places, San Francisco.

On Sunday (17 March), the singer was performing at a club called Yoshi’s when she went into a rant against gay marriage saying: 'I live in fear that the world will be destroyed if gays are allowed to marry.'

She then said to the crowd: 'You can go on Twitter and say, ‘Michelle Shocked says God hates fags.’”

Victim: 'They knew I was gay. They knew they were taller and bigger'

A gay man was beaten unconscious as his attacker repeatedly called him a faggot in Davis, California, over the weekend.

Mikey Partida, 32, had been celebrating his birthday and was leaving his cousin's house early Sunday (10 March) when the attack occurred.

Partida said a man who lived near his cousin began to verbally harass him as he was leaving the house.

He said he ignored the loud taunts of 'faggot' and quickly walked by. But then he had to turn around and go back to his cousin's house to retrieve his keys.

Police have launched a hate crime investigation after six people attacked a gay couple in New York City

A 23-year-old gay man was attacked on a Manhattan subway, as a crowd of onlookers did nothing.

Urena Morel Frankelly and his boyfriend were on a train on 18 February, when a woman took a picture of them eating and her friend called them names.

After the victim asked them why the two was taken a picture, the suspect said ‘Feed your face, faggot,’ the New York Daily News reports.

As an argument erupted, the two women, who were joined by three others plus a man, attacked Frankelly, police said.

Gay *NSYNC star has slammed the R&B singer after his alleged attack against out artist Frank Ocean

Openly gay *NSYNC star Lance Bass has attacked Chris Brown after it was alleged he called Frank Ocean ‘faggot’ during their brawl last month.

The two R&B singers fought in Los Angeles in January allegedly over a parking space, with Ocean being named by police as the victim.

Bass said as a black man Brown should realize when it comes to ‘very derogatory’ words, he should know the slur was ‘definitely meant to hurt’.

Two women have apologized for the pain they have caused while they were part of the 'God Hates Fags' church

Two key members of the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church have left the fold and apologized for their past.

Megan Phelps-Roper and her sister Grace, the daughters of lead group figure Shirley Phelps, have left the church known for their ‘God Hates Fags’ signs and the picketing of soldiers’ funerals.

The two sisters pioneered social media in the ‘God Hates Fags’ group, with Phelps-Roper posting parody videos of Lady Gaga’s music videos.

Police are investigating a minority group who have been attacking people, saying they have to 'get out of Muslim areas'

Police are investigating a so-called ‘Muslim Patrol’ in London who have been harassing men for looking ‘gay’.

In video footage posted on YouTube from the weekend (19-20 January), it shows a group calling a passerby a ‘bloody fag’.

‘Hello mate, don’t you know this is a Muslim area?’ asks a male member. ‘Why you dressed like that for?’

When asked why they were bothering him, the group says: ‘Cause you’re walking through a Muslim area dressed like a fag! You need to get out of here!’

Cleveland Browns linebacker Ricky 'Tank' Carder apologizes for homophobic slur on Twitter

American football player Ricky 'Tank' Carder has apologized for calling someone a 'faggot' on Twitter.

Despite deleting the offensive tweet on Wednesday (21 November), the Cleveland Browns linebacker initially stood by his post.

'Haters gon hate cause that’s what they do, haters don’t give respect where it should be given so I’m done arguing with you fools,' he wrote on Saturday (24 November).

But now Carder has done a U-turn, admitting he was wrong to use the homophobic slur.

Lawyer’s ‘faggot’ tweet ‘incites hatred’, says Filipino gay rights activist

In the Philippines last week well-known lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, who has held government positions and represented clients in high-profile cases, called the former president’s grandson and current press undersecretary a ‘faggot’ on Twitter.

The tweet was directed at Manuel Quezon III, grandson of former president Manuel L Quezon who is thought to have angered Topacio by describing him as ‘Hitler-loving’ in a blogpost.

Robin Tomlin haunted for decades after he was described as 'fag'

Robin Tomlin is dying of liver cancer but wants some closure on one of the most painful episodes of his life.

As a student at Argyle Secondary School in North Vancouver 42 years ago, he received his yearbook and when he opened it to the page with his picture on it, there was one word printed under his name: 'Fag.'

'I feel like, emotionally, they've been beating me with a stick for 42 years,' he tells the North Shore News.

Paris Hilton's comments about gay men and AIDS have made her an unwelcome presence on the LGBT-themed cable network Logo.

Logo, owned by Viacom, is a sister channel to MTV and had planned to air the special Paris Hilton Inc. but will no longer do so, according to The New York Post.

A cowardly attack with a taser gun on an American gay couple has been condemned by hip hop fans  – with even some self confessed homophobes condemning the attack

A hate crime against an American gay couple posted on a music website has been roundly condemned by hip hop fans in what may be another sign of a growing shift away from homophobia in the genre.

The video, posted to the World Star Hip Hop website on August 21 shows a mixed race gay couple standing at a convenience store service window when a man fires a taser gun into one of the man’s back and electrocutes him.

Popstar Zayn Malik shunned V Festival to support his girlfriend at London's biggest gay club

While the rest of One Direction partied at V Festival at the weekend, Zayn Malik was seen at G-A-Y nightclub in London on Saturday.

Malik, 19, was at the club supporting Little Mix band member and girlfriend Perrie Edwards.

She was singing with the rest of the girl group to celebrate the launch of their second single ‘Wings’.

One Direction have recently returned from touring in Canada and Malik was spotted sneaking into the club via the back entrance.

A Chilean university professor is being criticized for using anti-gay slurs on his Facebook page.

Cristobal Orrego, professor of legal and political philosophy at Chile’s Catholic University, repeatedly used the Spanish-language equivalent of the word ‘faggot’ on the social networking site.

The comment accompanies a video about a debate held at the University Pedro De Valvidia on Chile’s anti-discrimination law

UK football organizations invite LGBT people to become soccer coaches as part of initiative to get more gay people involved in sport

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the UK are being encouraged to become football coaches.

The initiative in partnership with the Football Association, Pride Sports and Surrey County Football Association hopes to get more LGBT people involved in soccer and is part of the FA's plan to tackle homophobia in the English game.

Participants will take part in a residential course from 24 to 27 August, featuring all the necessary workshops required to attain the qualification.

South African Olympic archer Hultzer has confirmed she is lesbian but won’t be hitting the target with a medal

South African Olympic archer Karen Hultzer has come out openly as lesbian during the games.

There had been speculation about Hultzer’s sexuality before London 2012 with her partner Tracey Kim Saunders telling Mambaonline that Hultzer is happy to be identified as a gay athlete.

But now 46-year-old Hultzer, born in Cape Town, has commented for the first time on her sexuality.

Eight gay-rights groups in Michigan join forces to educate 'straight allies about the extreme anti-equality government in this state'
 

Leaders from gay rights groups in Michigan will embark on a 100-day hunger strike.

Starting tomorrow 30 July, leaders from eight different gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights groups will go without food for 24 hours as part of their Hungry4Equality campaign.

Hungry4Equality is designed to raise awareness of specific issues facing the LGBT community, according to David Garcia, executive director of LGBT group Affirmations in Ferndale.

Jeremiah Cillpam stresses that franchises are independently owned and operated

The Chick-fil-A restaurant on Sunset Boulevard at Highland Avenue in Hollywood finds itself located in the middle of a large gay population as the chain is under fire for its very public stance against gay marriage.

So Jeremiah Cillpam, who owns the Hollywood location, is trying to distance his restaurant from the rapidly growing controversy. In a Facebook post, he stresses that each Chick-fil-A franchise is independently owned and operated.'

The Chinese gay community’s most popular word to refer to themselves has been left out of a new Chinese dictionary, sparking criticism
 

A new edition of a modern Chinese language dictionary has been criticized for leaving out the most popular term used by Chinese gays to refer to themselves.

The compilers of the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary omitted the gay usage among the definitions of the Mandarin word ‘tongzhi,’ literally meaning ‘comrade’, which has been adopted by Chinese homosexuals as a positive way to refer to each other.

The hills will be alive with the sound of LGBT travellers as Austria’s picturesque town of Velden hosts the international Pink Lake festival this August

Thousands of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender travelers and their friends will be painting an Austrian lake pink this summer in a unique four-day summer holiday event.

Pink Lake, which is supported by Gay Star News this year, is a long weekend of costume balls and boat parties on the stunning Lake Woerthersee, nestled between Slovakia and Italy.

We asked Jeff Wahl, one of the organizers, to tell us all about it.
