A teenager is speaking out after he was called a homophobic slur on a restaurant receipt.

Blake Butler, 19, was a waiter at Kelley's Country Cookin' in Houston, Texas up until last week.

He was serving his tables and chatting to colleagues when a work friend showed him a note he got at the top of the receipt from two customers.

It read: 'Don't want to listen to a faggot through my whole meal'.

English actor Paul Bettany kept his cool when an anti-gay Twitter troll attacked him.

The 43-year-old actor, who is married to US actress Jennifer Connelly with whom he has three children, is the star of several Hollywood blockbusters.

Bizarrely enough, a Twitter troll seemed convinced he is gay and threatened to beat him up for being a ‘faggot’.

However, the esteemed actor seemed to call upon his years of acting experience to handle the troll with one of the most eloquent responses to a homophobe we’ve seen.

Pacific nation bans gay sex and marriage

The 'queen of the Cook Islands' has said it is 'unfair' to criminalize gay people because of who they love.

The paramount chief of the Takitumu tribe, Marie Pa Ariki, made the comments last week in New Zealand at Hui Takataapui, an annual gathering of indigenous people from the Pacific nations.

'[Gay] people are knowledgeable and contribute to society and to home life,' she told GayNZ.com.

'They are human like everyone else... we are all whanau.'

Home schooled teen was called 'faggot' and 'booty lover' by his three young attackers

A gay teen was lured to a skate park in Texas by a 'friend' and was then viciously beaten by the girl and two others while being called 'faggot'.

Dylan Beard, 17, said the 17-year-old girl asked him to come meet her at a nearby skate park in Bayton on 16 October.

When he arrived to the park, he then claims two of her male friends then jumped him calling him 'faggot' and 'booty lover'.

'They all started hitting me, got on the ground, hit me and punched me,' Beard told KHOU. 'It's tough being gay. It's tough. Because we are out of the norm I guess.'

McCleish Christmas Benham told police he had 'about 100 drinks'

A man who physically attacked a male bystander at Dallas Fort-Worth Airport and hurled anti-gay slurs at him will not face jail time or hate crime charges.

McCleish Christmas Benham, 27, has been charged with public intoxication and simple assault. They are both misdemeanors thart each punishable by a maximum $500 fine.

Neither charge carries any jail time.

In 2009, Albert Eisenberg came out as gay to a supportive family - then it came time to share the news with his aunt Marianne.

At that time, Eisenberg was 18 and about to enter Georgetown University as a freshman.

The call from his aunt came and he remembers an 'extremely pleasant' conversation during which she told him she was proud of him and how she was 'so happy we're going to have a gay in the family.'

A foul-mouthed Perez Hilton lashed out against Jennifer Lawrence in a video rant Monday (20 October) after she blasted him for posting a hacked nude photo of her on his site.

In a new article in Vanity Fair, the Oscar winner says of the controversial gay blogger in the article: 'He took it down because people got pissed, and that's the only reason why. And then I had to watch his apology. And what he basically said was "I just didn't think about it" … ‘I just didn't think about it’ is not an excuse. That is the exact issue itself.'

It took Geena Rocero nearly a decade to come out publicly as transgender from the time she moved to New York to become a model. But when she did, she came out to an audience of 2 million and counting in a TED talk on March 31, the International Transgender Day of Visibility.

Rocero, 30, grew up in Manila and entered and won her first beauty pageant at the age of 15. She originally intended to follow her transgender friends to Japan, but she changed her plans when she found out she could change her gender marker in California - and in doing so change her life.

A gay couple, as happy as could be, were left devastated after they were told as they were exchanging vows to 'go home faggots'.

Oscar De Las Salas and Gary Jackson, an Arizona couple, flew in approximately 30 guests for their wedding in Coronado's Centennial Park in California.

But as they walked in, music playing, and took their positions in the grassy spot, they began hearing shouting.

Phone footage captures the couple saying their vows, with someone in the background shouting 'homos', 'go home homos', and 'go home faggots'.

Rita Fischer, now 90, has come a long ways since the 1980s when she had no clue that her son Jay was gay.

'I would not be so dumb now. I have what they call gaydar,' Fischer said in a conversation with her son that aired on National Public Radio's Tell Me More this week (30 July).

Jay Fischer, now 65, thought his mom already knew.

Rugby star Zak Hardaker will meet with members of the LGBT community tomorrow night as part of his 'personal and professional development' after being suspended for using a homophobic slur during a game.

In June the 22-year-old player called Warrington captain Michael Monaghan a ‘fucking fag’ at , for which he received a Charge E offense and a £300 fine ($514, €377).

Hardaker was banned for five games (a Charge E offense means a four to eight game ban), during which time he agreed to work with gay rugby group the Manchester Canalsiders.

On a 12 July broadcast, Taylor called Geelong player Harry Taylor ‘a big poofter’ for doing what he called a ‘royal wave’ when teammates hoisted him on their shoulders in celebration of his 150th game.

Taylor apologized to viewers in a subsequent broadcast saying: ‘In the pre-game show I said something that I regret.

The teen with 8.7million followers who posted a homophobic rant on video sharing site Vine has apologized.

Nash Grier, 16, sparked anger around the world by showing a clip of an HIV testing product and then screaming ‘fag’.

He took it down, but not before it was recorded and re-uploaded by a fellow social media star, Tyler Oakley who branded it ‘extremely dangerous’.

Several teens were asked about this famous phrase as well as the Jonah Hill controversy.

Earlier this month, the actor told a member of the paparazzi to ‘Suck my dick, you faggot’.

He then went on a long, remorseful tour of apologizing for his behavior, calling himself a gay rights activist.

The teens reacted to the controversy, as well as surrounding topics about using homophobic language in everyday speak.

Actor Gary Oldman thinks much too much was made of Alec Baldwin calling a photographer a 'cocksucking fag' last November.

22 Jump Street actor does an Alec Baldwin and lashes out a photographer who had been following him

22 Jump Street actor Jonah Hill has lashed out at a photographer, calling him a ‘faggot’.

But he has immediately apologized, saying he regrets it and has called the slur he used ‘disgusting’.

The US actor had been followed and questioned by a paparazzo from TMZ in Los Angeles.

In an attempt to get him to leave, Hill shouted: ‘Suck my dick you faggot!’

TMZ published the video on its website, condemning him for using homophobic language.

Hill went on the phone to Howard Stern to explain the situation.

When the Olympic diver came out last year, he received vile homophobic abuse on social media, which has now been used to create his portrait

‘Dirty fag’ and ‘he’s going to hell’ were just some of the insults thrown at Tom Daley when he came out in December 2013.

Now a UK artist has taken all the vile anti-gay slurs aimed at the British Olympic diver and turned them into art.

UK based artist Conor Collins created the portrait of Daley by using all the horrible homophobic names he was called on social media when he revealed his sexuality.

Collins revealed the finished portrait on his Twitter account this week (17 April).
