The Feeling among headliners at this year’s August bank holiday gay celebration

Excitement is starting to build for Manchester Pride 2013, one of the most popular LGBT celebrations in Britain, after the event's launch.

Patrons, friends, trustees and media supporters of the organisation gathered for an exclusive look at what can be expected from this year’s Manchester Pride, which begins on 16 August. 

It has been announced the theme for this year’s parade is Acceptable in the 80s.

Gay organizations in north-west England get cash from pride festival: Grants will help trans men, asylum seekers, gay adopters and foster carers and volleyball players

The fundraising charity behind Manchester Pride festival in north-west England have announced grants to a range of organizations through its fast track scheme.

The 2012 Manchester Pride Festival raised £52,000 ($81,000 €61,000) which has been shared between charity partners the Lesbian and Gay Foundation and George House Trust, and the Fast Track Grant scheme.

Some 32 LGBT groups and organizations, and those who work with people living with or affected by HIV have shared £17,100 ($26,300 €20,000).

Gay-fronted pop band The Feeling were among the performers at a special dinner, under the wings of Concorde, for England’s Manchester Pride

This is the moment when gay-fronted pop band The Feeling went Supersonic in the Concorde hangar for Manchester Pride.

The band, whose lead singer Dan Guillespie-Sells has long been involved in gay rights, performed at a red-carpet fundraising dinner for the leading pride event in north-west England on Saturday (6 April).

Guests dined under the wings of the now-retired BA Concorde plane at Manchester Airport before taking part in a raffle and charity auction.

Manchester’s gay pride celebration is staging an evening of live music in the shadow of legendary airplane, Concorde

UK’s Manchester Pride is gearing up for Supersonic – a luxurious evening of live music and a gourmet dinner.

The evening is to be held at Manchester Airport in north-west England on Saturday (6 April), and hosted by Concorde, the legendary supersonic plane, in its hangar.

Acts appearing include UK pop band The Feeling, and Manchester based Soul singer, Ren Harvieu.

North West England’s biggest LGBT event raises £52,000 for good causes but profits down by half due to rain and lower charitable giving in 2012

Manchester Pride, one of the UK’s biggest and best gay festivals, is to donate £52,000 ($84,000, €64,000) to charity – but its profits have been halved by bad weather.

The event charges for entry to the streets of Manchester’s gay Village during the pride weekend but always spreads its profits around the north west’s LGBT and HIV charities.

But this year’s festival in August in the gay capital of northern England faced a perfect storm of wet weather and a UK-wide decline of 20% in charitable giving.

Comic Jonathan Mayer upset gay Conservatives at Britain’s Manchester Pride. Future speakers may have scripts approved in advance

Conservatives have complained to Manchester Pride organizers after local comic Jonathan Mayer described being gay and Tory as ‘a refined form of self-harm’ at the event.

The alternative comic was one of the guest speakers at the Candlelit Vigil for HIV which always marks the end of the Pride celebrations in the north-west England city.

But Mayer’s speech on Monday evening (27 August) included criticism of Conservative politicians including London’s Mayor Boris Johnson and UK Prime Minister David Cameron.

Britain's Got Talent entrants to take part in Pride parade

Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists The Showbears will be lending some of their sparkle to Manchester Pride in northern England.

The UK TV reality show stars will be there as part of the Co-operative Group’s entry at the event on Saturday (25 August).

They will join 150 members of the Co-operative’s award winning LGBT employee network Respect in a vibrant procession through the city center, home to the company’s head office.

Celebrities, patrons and performers support UK pride event by fundraising for good causes at Manchester Airport

Celebrity supporters of Manchester Pride were out in force yesterday (August 20) at the English city's airport, collecting money for the gay festival.

Former NBA basketball player John Amaechi, British soap star Antony Cotton and actor Adam Zane were joined by Cuban cabaret diva Margarita Pracatan to collect donations for the charities and organizations supported by Manchester Pride.

British pop superstars Steps will be performing hits like Tragedy on the Gaydar main stage

If you are feeling a deeper shade of blue, don’t worry because gay pop royalty Steps will be headlining Manchester Pride.

It was announced today (7 July) the British pop band, formed in 1997 and famous for hits like Chain Reaction, will be performing in the northern English city during the big weekend on 24-27 August.

Coronation Street soap star Antony Cotton, a patron of Manchester Pride, said Steps has definitely got a hold of his heart.

He said: ‘Steps have such huge appeal and we are delighted to welcome them to the Manchester Pride main stage.

A tough economy stops North West England's LadyRock festival, due to be headlined by KT Tunstall, in its tracks

The LadyRock women's festival scheduled for 26 May in Manchester, North West England has been cancelled.

Scottish pop singer KT Tunstall had been confirmed to headline the festival, along with radio favourites Young Pony Club and Ronika.

LadyRock was poised to be the first event of its kind in the region. The women's-only event hoped to bring the best female talent to the stage, from top performers to up-and-coming talent.

Organizers have frozen prices to match Early Bird tickets for £15 for event in North West England

Manchester Pride organizers announced today tickets are on sale for the 22nd annual Big Festival and Pride Fringe weekends.

The event in North West England is one of the most popular Pride celebrations in the country.

The Big Festival weekend will take place the August bank holiday weekend, 24 to 27 August. Organizers have frozen ticket prices to match Early Bird tickets for £15.

Margarita Pracatan, the campy Cuban chanteuse who wows audiences with her own renditions of pop song favorites, will be headlining Pride Fringe from 17 to 23 August.

Ticket prices freeze just in time for the annual summer gay rights festival

Manchester Pride is back for another summer to present a programme of parties, arts, culture and debate.

Running from 17 to 23 August, the festival in north west England is in its 22nd year and will consist of four elements; the Pride Fringe, The Big Weekend, The Manchester Pride Parade and the George House Trust Candlelit Vigil.

Manchester Pride 2012 will have a new chief director this year, John Stewart, who is hoping to continue the festival’s success.

LadyRock Festival celebrates all things British in debut concert

Popstar KT Tunstall will headline the first ever women’s only festival in the northwest of the UK.

The Scottish songwriter will headline the LadyRock Festival in Manchester on 26 May, performing alongside radio favourites New Young Pony Club and the critically acclaimed Ronika.

Tunstall is most famous for her 2005 single Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, which charted across the UK, Europe and the United States.

Her hit Suddenly I See also featured in the opening scenes of the Hollywood film The Devil Wears Prada.
