Mark Cuban, the billionaire owner of the NBA team the Dallas Mavericks, is the latest high-profile name to join the effort of Athlete Ally.

The group, founded by straight wrestler Hudson Taylor, announced today that Cuban has joined the advisory board of the organization dedicated to fighting homophobia in sports and in general.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban knows that no NBA player has ever been openly gay during his playing career and only one- John Amaechi - has even come out in retirement.

But Cuban expects things to change within the next 3-5 years in the league which is scheduled to start its strike-delayed 2011-12 season on Christmas Day.
