The former couple has been living apart since November

Rosie O'Donnell and Michelle Rounds are making their separation, made public just three weeks ago, a permanent one.

O'Donnell filed for divorce on Friday in Manhattan State Supreme Court from her wife of less than three years. She cited 'an irretrievably broken relationship' as the grounds.

The couple, who have a two year old daughter, have a prenuptial agreement, according to People.com.

Rosie O'Donnell had very little to say about her personal life during her last day on The View this week but she opened up on The Dr. Oz Show Friday (13 February).

O'Donnell, who survived a near-fatal heart attack in 2012, has been dealing with the stress of working on a high-pressure daily show and a crumbling marriage.

'I'm doing everything that I can to take care myself, and I think Michelle is doing the same thing,' O'Donnell said of wife Michelle Rounds who she married in 2012.

The couple, who have a child together, split in November.

Despite urging by her co-hosts, she didn't want to discuss leaving The View on Monday's show

Viewers who had learned over the weekend that Rosie 'Donnell was leaving The View were surprised when she did not discuss her departure on Monday's show.

She said in a YouTube video posted after the show that she doesn't plan to discuss it on Tuesday either and that her final day as full-time co-host will be on Thursday.

O'Donnell said her co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace had wanted her to discuss her leaving but it was her choice not to.

But co-host cited health concerns during weekend appearance at film festival

Rosie O'Donnell returned to ABC's The View on Monday without mentioning that this is expected to be her final week as a regular co-host.

News of O'Donnell's impending departure broke late Friday when her rep and ABC both confirmed that she would be leaving the show to focus on her family. It was also confirmed that O'Donnell had split from wife Michelle Rounds.

O'Donnell was given an opening to address the developments when moderator Whoopi Goldberg noted that she had had a big weekend.

Her departure comes less that six months after rejoining the ABC daytime talk show which she moderated during the 2006-07 season.

This development comes at the same time as an announcement that O'Donnell has split from wife Michelle Rounds.

The mother of five children wants off the morning grind to focus on her family.

After a 2012 that had them both dealing with serious health issues, Rosie O'Donnell and wife Michelle Rounds have started 2013 with some good news: a newborn baby.

The couple announced via Twitter on Wednesday (9 January) that they are parents: 'we r thrilled to announce the arrival of r daughter Dakota – #withloveandthanks – AMEN.'

Dakota was born last Saturday (5 January) weighing in at 5 pounds, 5 ounces. O'Donnell's spokesperson says 'Moms and baby are happy and healthy.'

Rosie O'Donnell is a married woman.

The actress and talk show host revealed Monday (27 August) that she and Michelle Rounds were secretly wed back in June before Rounds underwent surgery for desmoid tumors which is a rare disease that only affects three out of every million people.

'We married in private before [Michelle's] surgery, just the [two] of us,' O'Donnell writes on her blog. 'When we r both well enough will have the wedding of r dreams surrounded by those we cherish.'
