Never one to mince words, Elton John paid tribute to the late Donna Summer and in the same statement, blasted The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for passing her over when she was nominated this year.

'Her records sound as good today as they ever did,' he said of Summer who died Thursday (17 May) at the age of 63. 'That she has never been inducted into the Rock `n' Roll Hall of Fame is a total disgrace especially when I see the second-rate talent that has been inducted.'

Legendary singer who came to fame as the 'Queen of disco' had cancer

Donna Summer, the powerful singer who came to fame as the 'Queen of Disco' in the mid-70s, died early Thursday (17 May) of cancer at her home in Florida.

Summer was 63.

The five-time Grammy winner had accumulated a stellar string of hits in the 70s and 80s including Bad Girls, Hot Stuff, MacArthur Park, Love to Love You Baby, Heaven Knows, Enough is Enough, On the Radio, She Works Hard for the Money, Dim All the Lights, This Time I Know It’s For Real and Last Dance, among others.

Friends pay tribute to 'talented' trans performer who died after suspicious fire broke out in her Brooklyn apartment

Friends and fans have paid loving tribute to a transgender performer, described as the 'Puerto Rican Beyonce', who died in a blaze in New York.

Lorena Escalera was found dead by firefighters in the early hours of Saturday (12 May) after a fire which broke out in her apartment engulfed the four-storey building in Brooklyn.

According to the New York Times, it took 65 firefighters over 30 minutes to tackle the blaze, which is now being treated as suspicious.

Gay singer's first single Evergreen/Anything Is Possible tops a BBC list of the bestselling singles of the 21st century

Gay singer-songwriter Will Young’s debut has topped a list of the bestselling singles of the 21st century in the UK.

Revealed by BBC Radio 1 in a list of the 150 bestselling singles, Young’s first single Evergreen/Anything Is Possible sold over 1.7 million copies.

Young slammed the double-A singles last year, calling them ‘dreadful’.

He said: ‘I can't bear 'Evergreen' or 'Anything is Possible', they're absolutely shocking. And you wouldn't believe the amount of money that was spent on those videos. F**king hell! Dreadful videos.

Australian pop sensation Kylie Minogue to headline BBC Proms In The Park

Kylie Minogue, the Australian pop sensation and worldwide gay icon, is set to headline the BBC’s Proms In The Park concert this Septmember.

Minogue, who is celebrating her 25th year in the music industry, revealed in a statement that she is ‘delighted to be performing at one of the UK’s most outstanding nights of the musical calendar.

‘To sing in front of thousands of people whilst being accompanied by the legendary BBC Concert Orchestra in such a special year is truly a dream come true.’

The 'Time After Time' singer will be honored as co-founder of the True Colors fund

Singer Cyndi Lauper will be honored by the US government for her LGBT advocacy.

The ‘Time After Time’ pop star will be given the prize by US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day in Washington DC on 9 May.

Lauper co-founded the True Colors fund to bring an end to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender homelessness, and inspire straight people to become active participants in the advancement of LGBT equality.

Pop dance quintet the Scissor Sisters are promising fans a Filthy/Gorgeous summer, announcing a North American tour.

The US band, who release their fourth album Magic Hour on 28 May, will officially kick off the 16-date tour in Las Vegas on 15 June, then travel the continent, visiting cities in Canada, before returning to their hometown of New York for a two-night stand at Terminal 5.

George Michael, now fully recovered from the pneumonia that nearly killed him last year, has sent out a tweet to fans saying he has completed his recording of White Light, a song that is a tribute to the fans who prayed for him to pull through.

Korean Christian groups say they will pray Lady Gaga concert is cancelled so 'homosexuality and pornography will not be spread around the world'

Lady Gaga has arrived in Seoul, South Korea ahead of her concert on Friday (27 April). Around 300 Christians gave her the cold shoulder by praying that her concert will be cancelled.

'We will pray to God that the concert will not be realized so that homosexuality and pornography will not spread around the world,' Kang Ju-Hyun, head of the Alliance for Sound Culture in Sexuality, told AFP.

Bisexual singer Jesse J breaks chart records with debut album's top 10 hits

Bisexual singer Jessie J has broken chart records as the first UK female to have six top 10 hits from one album.

Her single Laserlight has given her membership of an elite club of artists that include Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson.

She has already secured two top one singles with Price Tag and Domino from her multi-platinum debut album Who You Are.

The album sold 2.5 million copies and hit the number one spot in 19 countries, selling over 11 million singles.

GaydarRadio listeners vote for the British pop songstress over rival Lady Gaga

Madonna and Kylie have a new sister in their pop royalty family, as Adele was named as a new gay icon today (22 April).

The Someone Like You singer won 55% of the thousands of votes cast by GaydarRadio listeners in the UK, while her nearest rival Lady Gaga only received 18.9%.

Other winners were Gareth Thomas, the first openly gay professional rugby union player, who won Celebrity of the Year picking up more than a quarter of the votes.

Openly gay Swedish footballer Anton Hysen was named Hero of the Year after getting more than a third of the votes.

US Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack had already given a very moving tribute to stepson Chaz Bono at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday (21 April).

She talked about how Chaz 'meant the world' to his dad, the late Sonny Bono, who she said was 'watching from heaven.'

'Chaz had the courage to follow his heart and his convictions and that's what true leaders do,' Bono Mack said.

Then, after a video presentation about Chaz, a woman wearing a dramatic afro wig  a wig came onto the stage unannounced.

Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue proved to fans her bum still looks good in hotpants when she was spotted riding a motorbike through the streets of London's Soho district.

The pint-sized singer braved the wet weather in the UK capital last night (19 April) to film the video for her new single in Chinatown.

Minogue is known for showing off her peachy bottom, famously wearing a pair of gold hotpants in the video for Spinning Around in 2000 and was once again seen showing off her best asset, dressed in skimpy denim shorts and sporting a retro leather jacket.

Major League Baseball star Brandon McCarthy, a pitcher for the Oakland Athletics, just doesn't think it's funny to make two presumably straight guys kiss in front of a stadium of fans.

He considers it offensive to gays.

The so-called 'kiss cam' has become a staple at major sporting events in the US. During a lull in the action, camera operators will focus on unsuspecting pairs in the stands and the crowd encourages them to kiss.

Two months after her untimely death, Whitney Houston and her music will be the focus of next week's episode of Glee titled Dance With Somebody.

FOX television on Thursday (19 April) released a preview video of one of the episode's most powerful musical numbers: How Will I Know.

It features two of the show's gay characters, Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Santana (Naya Rivera) singing background to the powerful lead vocals of Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Rachel (Lea Michele) in this slowed-down a capella version of one of Houston's early hits.

Tammy Lynn Michaels and singer are headed toward custody and financial showdown in court next month

After nearly nine years together and two children, Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels continue to be engaged in one of the ugliest same-sex celebrity couple splits in history.

The city's officers were 'barriers between fans and the proceedings on the day of the funeral.'
