The electro-pop singer joins the Rocket Man singer on his North American tour this autumn

Bright Light Bright Light, aka Rod Thomas, will open for Elton John's US leg of his 2014 tour.

Already friends in addition to collaborators, the Welsh musician recently featured Elton John on his single I Wish We Were Leaving, part of his latest album Life Is Easy released on 8 July.

In an interview Thomas revealed he’s already done some UK tour dates with John, and is looking forward to opening for the gay icon in America.

‘[John] took me on the road for some July dates, because that was the time of the release of the album.

Band donated $20 for every single member of the 'God Hates Fags' church that decided to show up to protest at their gig

Panic! At The Disco have taken on the Westboro Baptist Church after the group targeted one of their gigs.

Last week, the ‘God Hates Fags’ church announced plans to protest the band’s show in Kansas City, Missouri.

As Panic! At The Disco are the church’s latest targets, the zealots recorded a homophobic parody of the band’s 2006 single ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’.

They dubbed their version ‘You Love Sin What A Tragedy’.

Jamie Lambert, from Collabro, has said he wanted to speak out about it because it's important for gay people in the public eye to be out and open

Jamie Lambert, who won Britain’s Got Talent with his bandmates Collabro, has come out as gay.

The singer, who performs in the musical theatre/classical singing group, said no one asked him if he was gay – so he didn’t feel the need to speak about it.

The 24-year-old told The Sun: No one asked — I have nothing to hide from anybody.

‘I think it’s really important that all gay people in the public eye just talk about it. The more that happens, the more normal it becomes.

US singer Tori Amos has said she chose to cover a song by a famous lesbian duo, as anti-gay Russian leader Putin was scheduled to make a speech on the same stage.

Amos covered the song ‘Not Gonna Get Us’ by Russian lesbian pop duo t.A.T.u at a concert in Moscow last month, during her tour.

The UK music icon believes Jesus would be a supporter of gay equality, and talks about going to meet Putin later this year

UK musician Sir Elton John has said he thinks if Jesus was alive today he would be a supporter of gay rights and equal marriage.

The ‘Rocket Man’ singer also spoke about the Pope, Putin and his plans for a low-key wedding with his partner of over 20 years David Furnish.

Speaking about gay marriage, John believed Jesus would not have stopped gay clergy or congregation from marrying someone of the same sex.

The Australian singer performed her hit song ‘Chandelier’ alongside the choir, who sang while wearing Sia-style blonde wigs 

Australian pop star Sia performed her hit song ‘Chandelier’ with a little help from New York City’s Gay Men’s Choir and a shirtless male dancer.

Sia was performing at US TV network Logo’s special called Trailblazers, which honoured the pioneers of the LGBTI community in a star-filled ceremony shown on TV.

The song, lauded as one of the best performances of the night, saw the choir wear blonde bob wigs to imitate her famous hairstyle.

Demi Lovato has revealed her new music video for her latest single Really Don’t Care.

The singer is seen performing at Los Angeles Pride, alongside drag queens, leather pups and Cher Lloyd.

In the opening scene of the video, it features homophobic demonstrators.

You can hear Lovato shout: ‘You don’t have to hate, because my Jesus loves all!’

Perez Hilton and Travis Barker make guest appearances in the music video.

Earlier this week, the singer revealed her grandfather was gay and an early pioneer of the LGBTI rights movement.

Music producer Linda Perry spoke movingly this week about her new wife, Sara Gilbert, and how their being together has enhanced her life.

'She, by far, is the best decision I've ever, hands-down, made,' Perry said on Larry King Now Thursday (26 June).

'She grounds me. I feel better with her. I feel smarter with her. I feel more confident. She's my family - I just feel like family with her. And I feel lucky. I feel like she's brought luck into my life.'

Pop star and actress says her relative was an early pioneer for LGBTI rights and equality

Pop star Demi Lovato has long been a supporter of the LGBTI community.

But now, she has revealed why, saying her grandfather was gay.

‘I’ve never spoken about this before, but my grandfather was a trailblazer himself,’ she said last night.

‘He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel that a lot of my spirit has come from him.

‘He passed away a few years later and I only wish he could have been able to see all the progress that has been made.

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and gay rights activist Melissa Etheridge has wed her partner of four years Linda Wallem on Saturday.

Wallem is best known for being the co-creator of the television series 'Nurse Jackie.'

The pair, both 53, began dating in 2010 after more than a decade of friendship. They announced their engagement last June when the Supreme Court struck down several anti-gay rights laws including California's Prop 8, according to media reports.

Band member Brian May:  'It's quite emotional. It's the big, big ballads and the big, big sort of epic sound'

It turns out we hadn't heard the last of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen who died in 1991.

Band member Brian May has revealed in an interview with BBC Radio Wales that some previously unreleased and never-before-heard vocals by Mercury have been restored and will be part of an album to be out later this year.

'We found a few more tracks with Freddie singing and all of us playing and they are quite beautiful,' May said. 'So people will be hearing this work towards the end of the year.'

Justin Bieber has donated $545,000 towards HIV research, matching another donor’s donation at the amfAR gala charity ball in Cannes on Thursday.

Organizers were floored by the offer and double-checked with Bieber to make sure he was serious about the donation, which he confirmed he was.

However Bieber couldn’t wait to take part in a lavish banquet that was part of the event and reportedly ordered a meal off the hotel’s kids menu before the banquet was served.

Seemingly on behalf of all the single gay men on planet Earth, TV host Andy Cohen asked Ricky Martin a very important question this week: 'Are you single?'

Simple question, right?

Martin, who split from Carlos González Abella earlier this year, did not have a simple answer.

'I'm in a really good place right now - I am where I need to be right now,' he told Cohen on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live.

Then he stated the obvious: 'I did not say yes or no.'

Accuses singing legend of 'pandering to the fags/dykes with much discretionary spending money'

The rabidly anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church said in a bizarre press release today that it plans to protest 'that bundle of confusion going by the name of Cher' at the singer's Kansas City concert on 31 May.

The group accuses Cher of compounding her 'sins' by 'pandering to the fags/dykes (read: those with discretionary spending money).'

It also launches deeply personal attacks on people in the life of the Oscar, Grammy and Emmy winning entertainer including her mother, her ex-husbands and her children - especially her transgender son Chaz Bono.

The longtime gay icon is still going strong as she closes in on 70

As she turns 68 today, Cher isn't slowing down - she's still revving up.

The Oscar, Emmy and Grammy award-winning legend who has had at least one number one single in each of the last six decades is currently touring the US with her Dressed to Kill Tour.

Pop icon Britney Spears and RuPaul’s Drag Race came together very briefly this weekend during her Las Vegas show.

Drag Race star Adore Delano made a surprise appearance during the third leg of Britney Spears’ Las Vegas Show.

Womanizer singer Spears is currently holding her first Las Vegas residency show called Britney: Piece of Me and she sent social media into a spin when she revealed Drag Race finalist Delano onstage as part of her performance.

Delano reportedly came out during the song Freakshow and danced alongside Spears’ backup dancers.

Gay Star News attended Saturday's event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel where such stars as Perry's wife Sara Gilbert and celebs including Sia, Natasha Bedingfield, Michelle Rodriguez and Joely Fisher chowed on vegan food, bid on big ticket live auction items and enjoyed a live concert.
