Both say they now have 'better understanding' of Martin's Super Bowl tweets

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation met with embattled CNN commenator Roland Martin Tuesday (14 February) to discuss a Twitter controversy that occurred on Super Bowl Sunday and resulted in Martin being suspended from the cable network.

GLAAD's Herndon Graddick, the group's senior director of programs, met with Martin in Los Angeles where the political commentator arrived on Monday.

GLAAD demanding commentator be fired for tweets it views as homophobic

CNN commentator Roland Martin has been taken off the air 'for the time being' in the wake of a Twitter controversy that occurred on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has been calling for Martin's firing for tweets he wrote during the Super Bowl about an H&M advertisement featuring soccer star David Beckham.

GLSEN's 'Think Before You Speak' campaign will reach fans attending game

On Super Bowl Sunday, the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network is going to be getting wide exposure for its Public Service Announcements on anti-gay slurs.

With its Think Before You Speak campaign, GLSEN will become the first LGBT organization in the country to share such a message with Super Bowl attendees. The campaign includes four videos and features such famous faces as Hilary Duff, Wanda Sykes and the NBA's Grant Hill.

Rocket Man tells Material Girl  to 'lip-synch good'

Elton John couldn't resist making a dig at Golden Globes foe Madonna when asked in an interview Monday (30 January) if he had any advice for the Material Girl when she performs her Super Bowl half-time show.

'Make sure you lip-synch good,' John said on ABC's Good Morning America.

The singer is not a fan of the Super Bowl half-time spectacle saying 'I've never seen a decent one.' But he later said he enjoyed when Prince and the Rolling Stones performed them.

Retired gay Major League Baseball star Billy Bean says 'It's going to take maybe just one special guy who can really move that ball forward'

As 2011 draws to a close, the major U.S. professional sports of football, basketball and baseball still have never had an active male player declare that they are gay.

There are still only handful who have even done so in retirement.

Among them is retired baseball pro Billy Bean who played for San Diego Padres, Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Dodgers during the 90s and came out publicly in the 2003 memoir Going The Other Way.
