On Twitter today, Ayanbadejo said he was cut due to his age and not due to his views on gay rights.

He said: 'Just a heads up I did an interview today and no way said I was cut because my views.

Brendon Ayanbadejo, the most outspoken LGBT ally in the National Football League, has been let go by his team, Super Bowl champions the Baltimore Ravens.

'I would like to thank the city of Baltimore and the Ravens organization for an amazing ride,' Ayanbadejo said in a tweet. 'We will forever be united as champions!'

According to Outsports.com, the Ravens have let a bunch of players go in the last few weeks and Brendon is simply the latest in a long line.
