Parents said they were surprised when son came out to them last summer

Sports Illustrated may have landed Jason Collins for his coming out story but it is Oprah Winfrey who managed to get his family together for a joint interview.

Winfrey's chat with the first openly gay active player in NBA history, his parents, twin brother, sister-in-law and aunt for Oprah's Next Chapter which will air Sunday (5 May) on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Winfrey asked parents Paul and Portia Collins if when their son came out to them last summer if there was 'a releasing of the dream ... of who he would be walking down the aisle with.'

'I wish we had the show the first year that we ended up with the second year'

If Anderson Cooper had to do it all over again, his foray into daytime talk shows would have been more Live With Kelly and Michael from the start than a pale imitation of The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Cooper's show, Anderson Live! was canceled last fall during the early weeks of its second season. But since that time, it has found its groove with a live format and a rotating array of guest co-hosts including Andy Cohen, Kathy Griffin and Kristin Chenoweth.

Nate Berkus, who lost his partner in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, has found love again and is getting married.

Berkus confirmed today that he is marrying Jeremiah Brent, his boyfriend of more than a year.

Berkus, 41, proposed to Brent on Monday (8 April). The couple then celebrated atop the famed Machu Picchu in Peru where they are vacationing with friends.

But it wasn't until December 2004 that his personal life became a lot more public. He and his partner, photographer Fernando Bengoechea were vacationing at a beach resort in Sri Lanka when the Indian Ocean tsunami hit. While Berkus survived, Bengoechea went missing and is presumed dead.

Berkus appeared on Winfrey's daytime show a month later to talk about his ordeal and the loss of his love.

Winfrey now reveals that after she appeared in the episode, which won an Emmy for its writing, the backlash quickly began.
