UK charity, Rainbow Rooms, brings gay pride to British countryside county of Wiltshire

The first Pride of Wiltshire festival is set to take place this September.

UK LGBT charity, Rainbow Rooms, has teamed up with the historical Hampworth Estate to host the event which will bring all Wiltshire LGBT communities together.

The festival weekend has been confirmed for Friday 13 to Sunday 15 September 2013.

International personality to receive Teddy special lifetime achievement award at glam ball

This year's Berlinale, the Berlin International Film Festival, is set to showcase the best in queer film.

And at the first ever Soirée Diversité ball on 13 February, 250 guests will look on as a special Teddy Award is presented to a celebrity or director for lifetime achievement.

This year sees the 27th annual Teddy Awards ceremony, which has been described as 'the most important queer film prize in the world'.

UK authorities are insisting on deporting a gay Nigerian asylum seeker, despite him facing a possible death sentence and a campaign to let him stay in Bradford.

Olalekan M Ayelokun fled from Nigeria eight years ago to escape persecution because of his sexuality.

UPDATE: 6.30pm GMT, 2 October GSN has just been informed that UK authorities plans to deport Ayelokun on Charter flight PVT090, flying from Heathrew tonight at 11.27pm GMT.

Ugandan lesbian asylum seeker Freda Nsumba pleads for help to halt her deportation from the UK

When Freda Nsumba was outed as a teenage lesbian in Uganda the treatment she says she received was barbaric. She claims she was beaten, forced to walk on her knees until they bled and fed goats’ blood to cast out her demons.

Now she’s claiming asylum in Britain, saying she faces persecution, arrest and abuse if she is forced to go back home.

But her case lies in the balance and she could be flown home as early as this Friday (28 September).

How a geeky gay boy became a sports hero and is now spearheading the bid to provide an LGBT legacy from the London 2012 Olympics

I'm in my mid-40s. School sports on the rugby fields of Wales was not inspiring for a young gay boy, slightly geeky and the shortest in the class. Games lessons would start with the humiliating ceremony of the two sportiest jocks being selected by the PE teacher, and they would pick off, one by one, the fittest lads for their teams. I would always be left until last – which meant I wasn't even chosen at all.

The organization that puts on Sydney’s annual Mardi Gras festival has announced plans to open its own museum celebrating its history and the history of LGBT Australians

Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has announced plans to establish a museum to celebrate its history and the history of the struggle for LGBT rights in Australia.

Museum collections relating to the Sydney Mardi Gras already exist in other museums, most notably Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum which has a collection of extravagant costumes, but this is the first time that plans for a dedicated LGBT museum have been announced in Australia.
