Spokesman for the Vatican, the Catholic Church's governing body in Rome, slams gay marriage laws in France, Spain and the US

'If we accept same-sex marriage, we have to accept polygamy as well,’ claims a spokesman for the Vatican.

The Reverend Federico Lombardi made the comment in reaction to the introduction of gay marriage in France by Francois Hollande’s government, the passing of similar legislation by the Spanish Constitutional Court and the legalization of same-sex marriage in three US states.

Is monogamy always the answer or could an ‘open relationship’ be better for you and your partner?

The first time I heard the phrase ‘open relationship’ I cringed at the thought of it. Why on earth would someone want to be in a relationship and at the same time what to hook up with someone else?

At that time I was bathing in the glorified illusion of my morality and the ideological deceit of ‘happily ever after’. I won't try to claim I can speak much about morality, but hey, I was in a monogamous relationship for one year.

I will never try it again.

Defense of Marriage Act lawyer returns to a 1885 polygamy ruling to defend the law

The lawyer defending the Defense of Marriage Act is using an 1885 polygamy case as one of the reasons why the US federal government cannot honor gay marriages.

Paul Clement was in a New York court this week supporting DOMA's language. The law was passed in 1996 and prohibits the US government from recognizing same-sex marriages, even in states where such unions are legal.

Alliance Defending Freedom has released an anti-gay marriage video which attacks President Obama

Christian group Alliance Defending Freedom has published an anti-gay marriage video which compares gay people who want to get married to racists and polygamists.

The video suggests not just marriage equality supporters, but racists and polygamists have been trying to sabotage ‘traditional marriage’ for centuries.

ADF say same-sex activists have a ‘powerful ally’ in Obama, and quote the president as saying: ‘My administration is no longer defending the [Defense of Marriage Act] in the courts.

More than 100 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have held a mass resignation over issues of gay marriage and polygamy

Troubled by issues of polygamy and homophobia, over 100 members of the Mormon Church have resigned in Salt Lake City.

The rally marked the largest display of defiance from members of the Utah based church. The Mormon Church is infamous for its culture of obedience, but the organisers of the rally told the Huffington Post they mean no disrespect to restive Mormons.

Conservative Party MP, Craig Whittaker, joins homophobic Scottish group in warning against dangers of equal marriage

A Conservative politician in northern England has joined homophobic Scottish campaigners in warning that gay marriage could lead to the legalization of polygamy.

Craig Whittaker, MP for Calder Valley in Yorkshire, wrote on his blog that he feared if the UK government goes ahead with plans to give same-sex couples equal marriage rights, then it would be a slippery slope towards far more radical laws.
