Lady Gaga's soaring tribute to the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music earned a standing ovation and a heartfelt hug from Julie Andrews during Sunday night's Academy Awards.

Gaga hit all the right notes in the film's title song as well as Edelweiss, My Favorite Things and Climb Every Mountain.

Gaga's stupendous musical performance (see video below) was one of the more surprising moments during a night when most of the expected winners took home Oscar gold.

Bisexual Born This Way singer shows off her heart-shaped diamond ring on Instagram

Bisexual international superstar Lady Gaga has announced her engagement to fiancée Taylor Kinney on Instagram. 

The six-time Grammy winner, real name Stefani Germanotta, showed off her new heart-shaped diamond ring on the social media site.

'He gave me his heart on Valentine's Day, and I said YES!' she posted.

Heartbeat Song is the first song to be lifted from Clarkson’s new album Piece by piece which will hit shelves on 3 March.

James David Manning says the singer regrets 'cutting off' his breasts

A New York City hate preacher has made the bizarre claim that Justin Bieber is in fact transgender and now regrets 'cutting off' his breasts.

James David Manning of the ATLAH Missionary Church in Harlem is the same pastor who previously said that Starbucks flavors its lattes with the 'semen of Sodomites.'

'These young girls, if we don’t stand, can be led to cut off their breasts once they get into puberty. They can be led to have operations like Justin Bieber,' he said on his YouTube show The Manning Report.

The 'Baby' singer turned up to the State Social House in Los Angeles with four friends only to find his spot had been taken up by a meeting of the Log Cabin Republicans.

Not fussed about being the elephant in the room, he took a seat in the private area anyway.

Neither bride wears a dress

New Zealand singer Ladyhawke and girlfriend Madeleine Sami tied the knot over the weekend.

Ladyhawke, real name Pip Brown, married the actress just outside her hometown Masterton on a sunny Saturday (10 January) afternoon.

Up to 200 guests attended the wedding, including Academy Award-nominated director Taika Waititi.

Over the years, Pip Brown has been tight-lipped about her relationship with Sami, whom she lives with in in Los Angeles.

Former N'Sync singer Lance Bass Saturday (20 December) married his boyfriend of four years Michael Tuchin in a star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles.

The ceremony was held at the Park Plaza hotel and only lasted 15 minutes.

Bass, 35, started dating his 27-year-old husband in 2011 and proposed to him in September last year.

'Today I marry the man of my dreams. He makes me smile; he makes my heart melt; he makes me....me,' he tweeted.

Kiss took an hour to shoot

The Taiwanese queen of pop Jolin Tsai locks lips with actress Ruby Lin in the music video for her new song, We're All Different, Yet The Same.

The clip is based on the true story of a lesbian couple who have been together for more than 30 years.

However, when one was hospitalized due to old age and required emergency surgery, her partner could not sign the consent form because she was not a legal spouse or family member.

When medical staff asked, 'What is your relationship with the patient?' she could only answer, 'A good friend.'

Rainbow run attracts 3,500 participants despite the cold weather

Thousands Saturday morning (13 December) participated in a rainbow run in Taiwan to support gay marriage and equal rights.

About 3,500 LGBTI individuals and allies wrapped up in rainbow scarfs for the 15km morning run in Taipei in spite of the in the chilly 13 Celsius weather.

The event hoped 'to bring attention to social issues related to gender diversity, anti-discrimination and changing the family system to better understand and in support of gay marriage and equal rights.'

'Treating lesbians and gays as second-class citizens is following old tradition'

Jason Mraz on Monday (24 November) spoke up for LGBTI rights while on tour in conservative Korea.

During an interview on the popular JTBC News Room telecast, conversation turned to human rights.

'You openly support for same-sex marriage. What would you say to the opposites?,' asked leading news anchor Sohn Suk-hee.

'We're always evolving, ever-changing, growing, expanding, and to treat lesbians and gays... as second-class citizens, as non-equals, is following old education, is following old tradition,' Mraz said.

But some people just can't deal with it.

'Stay With Me' becomes 'Please Go Home' in this latest parody video from director Adrian Anchondo

We do love Sam Smith and his already classic ‘Stay With Me’, but we also do love a good parody, which is exactly what video maker and director Adrian Anchondo delivers in this new spoof video.

If you’re not acquainted with Smith’s original song or video, it finds him lamenting over the empty feeling he has after a one-night stand and wishing that his lover would stay with him.

Anchondo’s parody examines another angle of the gay one-night-stand: the lover who’s in no hurry to leave.

Fans of the boy band are going crazy over a six second video that appears to show Niall Horan kissing a guy on his birthday

When you look at the fans of One Direction, it appears like nearly every single one of them wants one of them to come out as gay for some reason.

That excitement peaked this week when a Vine video showed Niall Horan appearing to kiss songwriter Julian Bunetta at his birthday party in Vegas.

In the six second clip, it appears to show the blonde boybander getting intimate - and possibly touching lips - with another guy. It could of course just be drunken friendliness.

David LeCours met his idol backstage at her Piece of Me show in Vegas, handing her a letter thanking her for giving him the courage to be who he is.

On Instagram, he said: 'She is the sweetest and nicest person alive.

'The letter explained how she helped me get through a real tough period in my life these past couple of months, and how I wanted to end it all but she made me be strong.'

Demi Lovato has revealed her new music video for her latest single Really Don’t Care.

The singer is seen performing at Los Angeles Pride, alongside drag queens, leather pups and Cher Lloyd.

In the opening scene of the video, it features homophobic demonstrators.

You can hear Lovato shout: ‘You don’t have to hate, because my Jesus loves all!’

Perez Hilton and Travis Barker make guest appearances in the music video.

Earlier this week, the singer revealed her grandfather was gay and an early pioneer of the LGBTI rights movement.
