New HIV vaccine trial hopes to improve on Thailand's promising results

Following the 2009 HIV vaccine trial in Thailand which found 30% effectiveness in fighting off infection, a new trial is about to start in London

A new international trial testing multiple vaccines administered together hopes to improve on the previous promising results of using combinations of antibodies. 

The trial will test a new recipe of AIDS vaccines to determine what kind of boost to the immune system a double vaccination has in participants.

An American-backed trial in Thailand found in 2009 that a combination of two vaccine prototypes was 30% effective in preventing HIV infection.

The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) is leading this new trial, soon to begin in London.

The co-founder of Microsoft and business magnate is looking for a next generation condom that ‘significantly preserves or enhances pleasure in order to improve uptake and regular use’.

Gates is welcoming anyone, from students to scientists, to come up with an idea and submit it in an easy, online, two-page application.

A safe sex campaign that was pulled down after complaints from Christians and then reinstated will return in the Australian state of Queensland from this month

A controversial safe-sex campaign targeting gay men has returned in the Australian state of Queensland a year after it was removed from billboards and bus shelters following an orchestrated campaign against it by Christian activists.

The Rip & Roll campaign resulted in 222 complaints, making it the most complained about advertisement in Australia in 2011, after the far-right Australian Christian Lobby urged its members to complain about it.
