Lesbian launches film club for 'isolated' gay youth

A lesbian youngster has helped launch a free gay film club for LGBT youth in Kent, England

A lesbian movie fan has helped launch a gay film club in Margate, England, after becoming frustrated with the lack of safe places for LGBT youth to meet.

The Section 28 Film Club will hold its first screening at the Kent town’s Turner Contemporary venue on 5 February.

The free monthly event for youngsters aged 15 to 21 will show a variety of gay-themed movies, from comedy to drama, starting with Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Aussie stars speak out for Australian Marriage Equality campaign

Actor Guy Pearce and musician Jimmy Barnes are the latest famous Aussies to speak out in support of gay marriage on behalf of the Australian Marriage Equality campaign.

Pearce, who gained a large gay following after starring in the film Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, said support and acceptance of the LGBT community has grown since he played a drag queen in that 1994 film.
