Witness says attacker stomped his face into the ground while yelling 'Faggot!'

A gay man who was brutally beaten in Mississippi on Friday (20 March) says the attack was a hate crime.

Investigators said James David Scott, 23, confronted Devin Norman, 26, in a Walmart parking lot in Corinth about an alleged social media post.

According to a witness, Scott threw Norman to the ground and stomped his face into the pavement while yelling, 'Faggot! Faggot! Faggot!'

Norman was treated for multiple facial fractures and broken eye sockets.

Scott fled the scene but was later arrested and charged with assault.

A Connecticut teacher has been suspended for reading an explicit poem about gay sex in class.

According to students at Windsor High School, David Olio read a 1968 poem by Allen Ginsberg which describes a sexual encounter between two men.

'It’s so graphic we can’t even repeat what much of it says,' a WTNH report said.

Gay British singer has opened up about the homophobia he faced growing up

British singer Sam Smith has said he was called 'faggot' all the time at school.

Opening up about growing up gay, he has revealed he received a huge amount of homophobic abuse both verbal and physical.

‘The toughest time for me was my first year in secondary school when I hadn’t come out as gay. It was actually the denying of being gay that was getting me bullied,’ he told The Sun.

‘I remember walking to the station getting "faggot" shouted at me all the time,’ he added.

Censorship board says it is 'not appropriate' for a child to utter the word

Indian censors have muted the word 'lesbian' in the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha released on Friday (27 February), sparking cries of homophobia.

The word was supposed to be said in a court scene where a young boy asks, ‘Mummy, is older sister turning into a lesbian?'

But the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ruled that it was 'not appropriate' for a child say lesbian and muted the word, as well as deleting four Hindi words.

The latest controversy comes weeks after the CBFC released a list of 28 banned swear words, which has been since put on hold.

Azealia Banks has defended her repeated use of the word 'faggot', claiming it comes from a 'feminist' point of view.

During an interview with QutQ's Xorje Olivares on Sirius XM, the bisexual rapper said she would continue to keep using the homophobic slur. 

'When I use the word "faggot", it comes from a feminist point of view,' she told the radio host.

Attack by McCleish Christmas Benham went viral after being captured on YouTube by fellow traveler

A Tennessee man who physically attacked a male bystander at Dallas Fort-Worth Airport and hurled anti-gay slurs at him has been fined just $474 for the incident.

McCleish Christmas Benham did not face jail time or hate crime charges for the October attack.

Benham, 28, did not show up for his court date so he was convicted on charges of public intoxication and simple assault - both misdemeanors that are each punishable by a maximum $500 fine.

A gay couple has reported a homophobic vandal attack on their house and car in Alaska, several weeks after the state legalized same-sex marriage.

Adam Jacobson found frozen soup inside their mailbox, egg shells on their porch and three half-empty pickle jars strewn about their backyard after arriving at their home in Anchorage early Saturday morning (6 December).

He dismissed the food as a prank until his husband found on their car a collage of anti-gay signs and drawings containing homophobic, racist and religious language as well as a Nazi swastika.

Azealia Banks has claimed 'faggot' is a good way to describe gay people as they are 'way more misogynistic than straight men'.

The '212' bisexual rapper got in trouble last year after calling gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton 'messy faggot'.

But Banks doesn't regret using the word, saying she thinks the anti-gay slur is an insult for misogynists.

Speaking to The Guardian: 'I don't regret doing it, but I'll never do it again, because I don't care enough about the person to have the battle again and defend my use of the word faggot.

A man who physically attacked a male bystander at Dallas Fort-Worth Airport and hurled anti-gay slurs at him will not face jail time or hate crime charges.

McCleish Christmas Benham, 27, has been charged with public intoxication and simple assault. They are both misdemeanors thart each punishable by a maximum $500 fine.

Neither charge carries any jail time.

A man physically attacked a male bystander at an airport is Dallas on Thursday (23 October) and hurled anti-gay slurs before being subdued.

On a video posted on YouTube by an onlooker, the man is near a ticket counter and can be heard saying 'I'm upset about this faggot right here.'

He then attacks the man and calls him a 'fucking queer' before he is taken down to the ground by several bystanders.

A policeman soon arrives and the attacker can be heard saying, 'This is America!' and 'When I get up, I'm going to beat the shit out of him.'

Oscar-nominated actor Jonah Hill gave an emotional apology on The Tonight Show Tuesday (3 June) for calling a photographer a 'faggot' over the weekend.

Hill, who had earlier apologized on The Howard Stern Show, explained that when he used the word in anger and frustration, 'I didn't mean it in a homophobic way.'

But he offered no excuses.
