The Log Cabin Republicans on Friday (28 December) announced that Gregory T. Angelo has been appointed as its interim executive director.

Angelo, currently head of the organization's New York chapter, takes over for R. Clarke Cooper who is stepping down at the end of the year.

'There has never been a more exciting and historic time to be a gay Republican,' Angelo said in a statement.

'We agree with Governor Romney's vision for America'

Saying they agree with his 'vision for America,' the Log Cabin Republicans on Tuesday (23 October) endorsed Mitt Romney for president even though that vision doesn't include gay marriage.

'The decision to endorse is the right one for our members, our community, and for the nation as a whole,' executive director R. Clarke Cooper said in a statement. Despite our disagreement with Governor Romney on the issue of marriage, on balance it is clear that in today's economic climate, concern for the future of our country must be the highest priority.'

Gay Republicans hail Rep. Paul Ryan's place on the Romney ticket

The two major gay Republican organizations are ecstatic over the choice of Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney's running mate.

'Congressman Paul Ryan is a strong choice for vice president, and his addition to the GOP ticket will help Republican candidates up and down the ballot,' said R. Clarke Cooper, the executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans, in a press release.
