Daniel Hernandez: 'On that day, I did what I thought anyone should have done'

It's been two years since a madman shot US Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in the head, killed six people and wounded 12 others besides Giffords during a 'Congress on Your Corner' event in Tuscon, Arizona.

Giffords survived thanks in large part to a quick-thinking intern who used his training as a certified nursing assistant to apply pressure to the entry wound on her forehead, pulled her into his lap and held her upright against him so she wouldn't choke on her own blood.

David Boies, lawyer fighting California's anti-gay marriage ban, donates to Rep. Nan Hayworth reelection effort

Rep. Nan Hayworth, a Republican known for her gay rights voting record, is getting support from both sides of the aisle. As reported by BuzzFeed, lawyer David Boies and his wife donated $5,000 to Hayworth's reelection campaign.

Boies, a Democrat,  is well known for working with Ted Olson to overturn California's ban on marriage.

'We agree with Governor Romney's vision for America'

Saying they agree with his 'vision for America,' the Log Cabin Republicans on Tuesday (23 October) endorsed Mitt Romney for president even though that vision doesn't include gay marriage.

'The decision to endorse is the right one for our members, our community, and for the nation as a whole,' executive director R. Clarke Cooper said in a statement. Despite our disagreement with Governor Romney on the issue of marriage, on balance it is clear that in today's economic climate, concern for the future of our country must be the highest priority.'

Gay Republicans hail Rep. Paul Ryan's place on the Romney ticket

The two major gay Republican organizations are ecstatic over the choice of Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney's running mate.

'Congressman Paul Ryan is a strong choice for vice president, and his addition to the GOP ticket will help Republican candidates up and down the ballot,' said R. Clarke Cooper, the executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans, in a press release.

Rumours BBC will commission a new series of gay-favourite sit-com Absolutely Fabulous for 2013

Jennifer Saunders is expected to write a new series of Absolutely Fabulous – a sit-com famous for it’s loyal gay fan base – for 2013.

The BBC brought back Jennifer Saunders as spoilt PR Eddy Monsoon and her co-star Joanna Lumley, who plays fashion magazine editor Patsy Stone, for three specials recently. One has screened at Christmas, another at New Year and the third will be seen at the time of the London Olympics.

It’s the first time in seven years that new episodes of Absolutely Fabulous, known by fans as Ab Fab, have been screened.
