'Sometimes there's a stigma attached to how people view you if you're living a certain way. But I don't care - you gotta live your life'

Robin Roberts has been on ABC's Good Morning America since 1995 and shared with viewers her battles with breast cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome.

But it was not until last December that she shared with the world that she is a lesbian and in a long-term relationship.

Roberts was widely applauded for her decision to finally go public but there were also those critics who felt she had waited much too long given her high-profile and the battle for LGBTI equal rights on the front burner.

She has no apologies.

HRC honoree Paris Barclay jokes that during Roberts' nomination hearing 'you did not see one, single picture of (him) in that wig. But I have them.'

When Paris Barclay accepted the Visibility Award over the weekend at the Human Rights Campaign gala in Los Angeles, he shared with the sold out crowd a high school memory that US Supreme Court Justice John Roberts would probably want forgotten.

It seems the two were classmates at an all boys high school long before their paths went in separate directions. Roberts ended up heading the highest court in the US and Barclay an Emmy winning director who is the first black and first gay president of the Directors Guild of America.

Another TV star coming out may be nothing new, but when she has had to overcome all the extra challenges Roberts has, it merits applause

While I will continue to argue the African American community doesn’t have a patent on homophobia, it does, however, have a problem with it.

Black homophobia still has a deadly hold on African American life. And while I would like to say its oppressive grip only impacts lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people of African descent, in truth, black homophobia maims the entire community.

For example, to date more than a quarter of a million African Americans have died of AIDS – both straight and gay.

Tells viewers: ‘I have never been happier or healthier’

Good Morning America host Robin Roberts returned to the air today for the first time since coming out as a lesbian over the holidays.

Roberts made clear she would remain open as she and the on-air team shared highlights from their respective vacations and she talked about a family wedding she attended.

'The family was all together in Baton Rouge over the weekend, and we have a family photo,' Roberts said. 'Next to me is my girlfriend, Amber.'

'I was afraid of people like Phil Robertson, who claim to love everyone while simultaneously thinking that everyone's love isn't equal'

While First Lady Michelle Obama and plenty of other people have been quick to congratulate Good Morning America host Robin Roberts for coming out publicly as a lesbian, others have wondered what took her so long.

CNN's Don Lemon took to the air on Monday (30 December) to shed some light on why he thinks Roberts or any television news personality is still reluctant.

Tweets to Good Morning America anchor: 'You continue to make us all proud'

First Lady Michelle Obama took to Twitter today to publicly congratulate Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts for coming out publicly as a lesbian over the weekend.

'I'm so happy for you and Amber!' Obama tweeted, referring to Roberts' partner of 10 years Amber Laign.

'You continue to make us all proud,' Obama added.

When President Barack Obama decided to go public with his support of gay marriage last year after many years of 'evolving' on the issue, he gave the exclusive interview to Roberts.

Danny Roberts: 'Can’t say because he’s straight and married now'

Andy Cohen asked and Danny Roberts told - sort of.

During a reunion of MTV reality show stars this week on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live, Cohen asked a group that included Roberts if they had ever hooked up with any of their fellow castmates.

All said no except for Roberts who appeared on The Real World: New Orleans in 2000 and on Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Seasons in 2002.

So who was it everyone wanted to know.

'Can’t say because he’s straight and married now,' Roberts answered.

Jean Podrasky is from San Francisco and wants to marry her partner

Among the invited guests of Chief Justice John Roberts at Tuesday’s Supreme Court hearing on Proposition 8 will be his lesbian cousin Jean Podrasky.

The San Francisco resident wants to marry her partner so she has a lot riding on whether or not a majority of the justices uphold an appellate court ruling which declared California’s gay marriage ban unconstitutional.

Miami ceremony to be performed by MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts

Sam Champion, weather anchor of ABC's Good Morning America, officially married Rubem Robierb in New York City last Friday (21 December) but that was only the first step in the wedding march for the couple.

They have headed down to Miami, Florida, where they will have a New Year's Eve ceremony with a more festive, party atmosphere.

Miami is Robierb's hometown and it was at a New Year's Eve party that the couple first met.

The ceremony will be conducted by MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts, a fellow newlywed.

Tells Gay Star News: ‘I’m all grown up now’

Danny Roberts has not been in the spotlight much since he was featured as part of the New Orleans cast on MTV's The Real World in 2000.

But he's never been forgotten.

In his 2008 interview with Out magazine, Neil Patrick Harris said Roberts was a role model for him at that time because 'before him I'd never seen anyone wear [homosexuality] so comfortably.'

The MSNBC news anchor and Patrick Abner have been together for 12 years

California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom performs ceremony in NYC

The setting was the rooftop of Manhattan's Gansevoort Hotel on Park Ave. as MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts married his longtime partner, Patrick Abner, in New York City over the weekend.

The couple exchanged their vows in a ceremony Saturday (29 September) performed by Gavin Newsom, the Lieutenant Governor of California and former San Francisco mayor who in 2004 authorized same-sex marriages in that city which were later annulled.

'The BEST night ever with Patrick Abner,' Roberts tweeted after the ceremony. 'Thanks to the most amazing friends and family.'

'You hear all those horrible stories about high-profile people who had been living these closeted lives. There's no excuse for it anymore'

Wearing a tight-fitting Buzz Lightyear costume on a Los Angeles movie set, Ian Roberts is a long ways away from his days as a professional rugby player in Australia.

He calmly does take after take of a scene taking place at a Halloween party for the romantic comedy Saltwater where, ironically, it is his love interest (played by the film's writer, Ronnie Kerr) who is dressed as a rugby player.
