Former Utah governor and contender to be the Republican Party’s 2012 presidential candidate Jon Huntsman has announced his support for marriage equality just months after another contender declared same-sex marriage to be inevitable

Huntsman made the announcement via a February 21 op-ed in the American Conservative magazine.

‘While serving as governor of Utah, I pushed for civil unions and expanded reciprocal benefits for gay citizens,’ Huntsman wrote.

While Rick Santorum took a comfortable primary victory, he still lags behind

Last night Rick Santorum had an impressive primary win in Louisiana. Yet, he is no closer to winning the Republican nomination.

The former senator exceeded all expectations by beating Mitt Romney two to one. As reported by The New York Times, Santorum won 49 percent of the vote. Romney was a distant second with  26.7. Newt Gingrich came in third with 15.9 and Ron Paul 6.1.

According to polls, Rick Santorum will have a big night in the state of the Big Easy

The Republican presidential primary candidate with the most conservative record on LGBT rights is geared to win big tonight in Louisiana's primary.

According to Public Policy Polling, Rick Santorum has a double digit lead over Mitt Romney. The former Pennsylvania senator is ahead of Romney, 42 to 28 percent. Rounding out the field is Newt Gingrich at 18 percent, 8 for Ron Paul, and Buddy Roemer at 2.

With a number of wins in his belt, Rick Santorum is riding a crest of popularity.

According to Public Policy Polling, the former Pennsylvania senator 'has opened up a wide lead' in the organization's national poll. He's at 38 percent, and behind him is Mitt Romney at 23. Former speaker of the House  Newt Gingrich is at 17 and  13 percent for Rep. for Ron Paul.

He is polling at 50 percent; former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is second at 25 percent and Rep. Ron Paul  is third with 15. Santorum rounds the field with 8 percent.

Twenty-six percent in new poll rank trust Mitt Romney most when it comes to social issues

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney finished far ahead of Newt Gingrich and other contenders when it comes to being reliable on social issues including same-sex marriage, according to a poll released today.

A Washington Post/ABC News poll, a random telephone sample of 1,005 adults conducted Dec. 15-18, resulted in 26 percent of the respondents saying they trust Romney the most on the social issues of gay marriage and abortion.
