'In another time, that might have been it. Phil (Robertson) would have stayed fired. But not now, not this time'

Sarah Palin surfaced at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) over the weekend and used part of her speech to defend anti-gay Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson.

Robertson had been suspended from the A&E reality show after comparing homosexuality to bestiality in an interview with GQ Magazine but the suspension was lifted in less than two weeks.

'In another time, that might have been it,' Palin said to the ultra-conservative audience in National Harbor, Maryland. 'Phil would have stayed fired. But not now, not this time.'

Palin stumped when asked about his 'graphic' and 'offensive' anti-gay comments

Sarah Palin was one of the first high-profile people to take to Twitter to defend Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson last week when his anti-gay comments surfaced.

She tweeted: 'Free speech is an endangered species. Those "intolerants" hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch are taking on all of us.'

While Palin has not retracted her defense of Robertson, she has admitted to not having read his comments to GQ magazine before or after sending her tweet.

Phil Robertson also said blacks 'were happy' with segregation and picking cotton

Video has emerged of Phil Robertson, suspended indefinitely from A&E's Duck Dynasty for anti-gay comments made to GQ magazine, making even more hate-filled remarks during a sermon prior to his reality show days.

In the sermon, Robertson said gays and lesbians are 'full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, God-haters. They are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless.'

'Does every United States Senator have to have a kid come out and say, “Mom, Dad, I’m gay” for them to actually believe in equal rights?'

As a longtime LGBT ally, Kathy Griffin was no doubt happy to see Ohio Senator Rob Portman cross Republican party lines last month and come out in support of gay marriage.

But that doesn't mean the funny redhead isn't going to give Portman a hard time in her act for doing so only after his own son came out as gay.

'Marriage is meant for people who wear different kinds of swimsuits'

Tina Fey dusted off her uncanny and wildly popular impersonation of Sarah Palin during a recent television appearance and, as Palin, took on the issue of gay marriage.

'Well, the bible says it's gross,' she told host James Lipton on an episode of Inside the Actors Studio.

'I don't judge it,' she added. 'A lot of the amazing, wonderful people I met at the audience at Dancing With the Stars seemed to go that way.'

Ditch the racist, homophobic, creationist, climate change-denying dominionists: inclusive, secular conservatism is the only option for Grand Old Party, says Adrian Tippetts

The US presidential election was not so much an endorsement of Obama as a verdict on the Republican Party. Given the dire economic circumstances, any challenger would have strolled into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They even outspent the Democrats on their presidential campaign by a factor of 3.5 to one. The recriminations and post mortems are in full swing. At least Newt Gingrich has the honesty to admit being ‘far off’ wrong.

'If I have a gay dance partner, we may have some interesting discussions'

While appearing before TV writers with fellow cast members of the all-star edition of ABC's Dancing With the Stars last month, Bristol Palin was asked if she would mind if she were paired with an openly gay male dancer in the competition.

Palin, star of the Lifetime reality show Life's a Tripp, said that just because she believes in 'traditional marriage,' does not mean that she's a 'homophobe.'

John Goodman stars as a very gay-friendly, and possibly gay Col. Sanders from KFC

The Chick-fil-A chain has been at the center of a heated debate ever since its top executive went on the record to say he was against gay marriage.

Gay marriage opponents like Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin have rallied to the Atlanta-based chain's defense who marriage equality advocates have spoken out, tweeted and protested.

Some politicians have even gone so far as saying the chain's restaurants are no longer welcome in their state.

But one thing that hasn't surface until today (1 August) is humor.

Barack Obama impersonator 'marries' right-wing politicians including Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin

A Barack Obama impersonator has ‘married’ lookalikes of Mitt Romney and Donald Trump for a new marriage equality campaign.

The adverts also show lookalikes of far-right politicians Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin tying the knot.

The humor may have been lost on some people, as the campaign was banned in California and other states in the US.

Greg Hodge, CEO of Beautiful People, told Gay Star News that as long as all of his members cannot enjoy the same benefits and recognition of their fellow citizens, he will be campaigning for marriage equality.

According to Right Wing Watch, Phillips said: ‘The left’s definition of equality is to allow anyone and anything to marry.

Chick-fil-A battle continues with more politicians choosing sides

Looks like for the next few days US politics will be defined by if you eat at Chick-fil-A.

The fast food restaurant has been in the spotlight recently for its donations in support of anti-gay initiatives. Yesterday, 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin tweeted she and her husband were at the restaurant after a Texas campaign rally.

Nancy Pelosi, the House Minority Leader, went to her Twitter feed to say how she preferred a Chick-fil-A rival.
